Going to school without the requirement to set foot outside, wake up early, or even get dressed, a dream for some, reality for more and more every year. Homeschooling has experienced a major boom within the last few decades, causing more people to be aware of it. However, this also leads to more people who, while cognizant of its existence, criticize it for administering lackluster teaching to children. But with a willing parent and child, homeschooling can be equal to or better than a public education. The opportunities for children to study in a home environment are invaluable.
One advantage of homeschooling is its ability to integrate learning into everyday life. A homeschooling schedule allows for flexibility in planning. For a person attending public school, a doctor’s appointment in the morning causes the student to miss a class, after which they will have to be filled in afterwards by the teacher. In a homeschooling situation, the appointment simply comes between lessons rather than during them. Even the drive to the clinic allows for time to work on homework. Afterwards, the school day continues as normal, right from where it was left off at home. This means that even when taking a vacation there is time to study or learn in free time. Even during summer vacation, small amounts of review can be conducted to prevent forgetting what was learned during the school year.
