A lot of people choose to look at the challenges in their lives that they have faced and explain how they have overcome them. I am choosing to instead look at the successful times in my life and share what they have been, because I look forward to adding to this list, hopefully while I am attending Muskingum University. At the end of my Sophomore year, I was accepted into the Cosmetology program at C-TEC of Licking County, and this was just the start of a successful pathway. Towards the end of my Junior year, I was chosen to be apart of National Honor Society (which I stupidly rejected, a mistake that will never be made again) and continued to be on Honor Roll and Merit Roll throughout the years. I was also the outstanding Junior Cosmetology
Throughout my high school career, I have come to be heavily involved in activities within my high school. I was inducted into National Honor Society in the school year of 2015-2016. I came to be involved in the Drama Club for all four years of my high school career, along with being in Student Council all four years as well. In Student Council, I held the position of treasurer my senior year, and was on the executive board. The music department also has been one of the biggest programs I have come to be involved in within my high school career. I have played alto saxophone in concert band all four years of high school, and played alto saxophone my senior year in jazz band. Along with being in both concert band and jazz band, I was also part
Service is one of the essential pillars of the National Honor Society. While a member of the National Honor Society I have participated in many projects that have changed the way I see the world. While volunteering I have met many fascinating individuals that have different stories. Stories that have influenced my future goals to help and show kindness to everyone. While volunteering at Care one I have met multiple people who always have a smile on their face no matter how bad or good their day is going. Therefore the most significant moment that has impacted me is one story in particular. During the weekend I volunteer with an elderly woman. She is kind, friendly and has the biggest smile. While volunteering with her I have learned that volunteering
First of all, I would like to thank you for taking me into consideration as a nominee for the National Honor Society of Coolidge High School
I am greatly appreciative of this opportunity to be a part of the honored students in the National Honors Society. Ever since I learned about the prestige of this organization I wished to one day join, and seeing my two older sisters be apart of the society must have been a contributing factor as well. Through the years I have learned to take calculated risks, how to grow emotionally and spiritually, the value of hardwork, and how to learn. I take pride in who I am turning out to be, constantly finding ways to do the right thing no matter how hard it is, and never ending my pursuit for learning and improvement.
I am deeply honored to be one of the students who are being considered for the Math and Science Academy chapter of the National Honor Society. Being a part of NHS has been something that I have been looking forward to ever since I got into high school. I know a few people who were or are in this society, and they are always telling me how rewarding it is to be a part of such a remarkable organization. Currently, as a sophomore, I feel that the past year of high school has enormously shaped my character; improved my leadership skills; challenged me academically; and
The National Honor Society is based off 4 pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. School is an enormously important part of life if you want to become someone in this world. I stand tremendously blessed to attend Motley County ISD. It has helped me grow tremendously as a person. Going to this small-town school has been great. I have been able to participate in all sports that interest me, many extracurricular activities while still maintaining a job after school and practice hours.
Thank you for my invitation to be a member of the Horseheads Chapter of the National Honor Society; I consider it a tremendous honor. It motivates me to continue to excel and succeed in my education and in life. I believe that I have exceptional character, as well as a satisfactory service history. I admit that my leadership qualities need work, but my exposure to others in the National Honor Society will help. I trust that I would be an excellent inductee to the National Honor Society, since I always strive to be the best person that I can be and commit 110 percent into all my obligations.
Receiving the letter of candidacy for this prestigious society is now giving me the opportunity to express myself in different ways. By becoming a member of the National Honor Society I will
Over the years I have encountered many road blocks, none of which I hadn’t been able to overcome. My freshman year I had been cut from the volleyball team after working so hard over the summer to improve my skills. I admit, I felt extremely put down by this turn of events but if that had never happened, I wouldn’t have found the sport I love more, cross country. On top of that, I received and application for National Honors Society last year, and I was ecstatic. However, when I didn’t quite make it in, there was a determination in me to find a way to better improve the skills required to qualify to be a part of this amazing group of people. Those events shaped my character deeply. I also had the amazing opportunity to go on a mission trip to
The National Honor Society is an organization that provides students with characteristics to strive for. The four columns of this organization, such as scholarship, service, leadership, and character, are all qualities that help further develop the student as a person. Not only is a student pushed to excel in the classroom, they are also expected to contribute and give back to their community. These requirements all contribute to the student discovering who they are as a person and sets them on the pass to success. Of course, with financial aid, leadership development, and a constructive society, students will become the leaders of the modern world.
When one goes through the stages of development, he can point to several key elements that aid the process; for example, bravery, determination, and curiosity. When it comes to my development, the four pillars of the National Honor Society – character, service, leadership, and scholarship – have done much to solidify my development into a more refined person. Let’s start with character and service.
I made my decision to attend Bishop State Community College after high school because it was important to my parents and myself to have a great transition from high school to college at a gradual pace; with the goal of eventually transferring to an university. I was extremely focus on finding a career that match my passion in the areas of sciences and the years I would like to spend on my education. I never gave a thought about looking into honor societies at my college. In fact, I did not think I had the qualification to be invited to join any honor society; for Instant, I assume I had to have a large resume of volunteering and had the assumption that my grade point average had to be higher than a 3.5 grade point average.I also mistakenly
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful job you did as the professor and director of the honors program. This has been my first year in the program and I can proudly say that it is an amazing opportunity to be able to be part of. We faced challenges, met new friends, and heard anecdotes from doctors from different fields, which I think that is moving forward to our future step by step going through the right direction.
I would to an extent agree and disagree with this point of view. It is understandable that higher income and higher status students, students who are typically typecast as being privileged and/or entitled, seem to draw towards institutions like honors programs. An honors program certainly strikes itself as a place that those students would believe themselves deserving to attend. However when looking at these programs the main goal is to cultivate a space in which all students who worked diligently and strove towards high academic achievement can be rewarded for their efforts and further their education. Most privileged and/or entitled students don’t exhibit these qualities and would not be of much benefit to the college community as a whole.
Throughout my educational experience, I have endured countless hardships that made progress difficult at times. Although it was a struggle through my strong dedication to education, I have also earned a list of achievements for my hard work. These experiences from, failing two of my English classes, to excelling tremendously in mathematics, have molded me into the type of student I am today. I am a student with a growth mindset and, an optimistic outlook on education and, the bright future ahead. I now understand the impact that a positive mindset can have on your future. I am definitely proud of the student I have become. I feel like my journey is unique, but is also very relatable.
