The morally corrupt, but effective leaders tend to apply the normative ethical theories in pursuing their objectives (Neal & Tansey, 2010). For instance, the morally corrupt, yet effective leaders tend to consider the moral good of their intention as opposed to the consequences of their actions. Hitler for example, his decision hinged on the intention as opposed to the consequences. If distribution of public resources to the underprivileged through the corrupt means would improve the state of the country, then the decision is right because the intention would enable the society to achieve desired objects. On this account, the moral corruptness of a leader would not hinder their desire to motivate and steer the organization in achieving desired results. Another situation illustrating the effectiveness of the moral corrupt leaders is a case where leaders employ corruption in acquiring tender or achieving organizational desires. The move to corruptly influence the tendering board into awarding the organization is morally inappropriate, but effective mechanism of achieving the organizational goal. In this case, the approach of acquiring the tender is ill, but the consequence of the action
When one acquires a position of extreme power, it is only a matter of time before it is maliciously abused for personal benefit. As socialized power, the power used to benefit others, transitions to personalized power, the principle of morality is lost as the leader becomes unable to discern from right and wrong.
Political corruption is a major problem in the US today. It involves almost all levels of government and affects people from all walks of life. Public office is a noble post and citizens put their trust in government officials to carry out their constitutional duties for the benefit of the citizenry. The problem comes in where both elected and unelected officials perform their duties with the goal of personal gain in full view of the law. The ethical and moral wrongs of corruption are unjustifiable in any context.
Someone who is abusing the power that is given to him or her defines corruption, however, the word in its self is more than a simple idea; it is an intricate network. Since people’s views about ethical and moral behavior affect the way corruption is examined, the word has a slightly different meaning to each person. Additionally, misconduct across various societies is viewed differently due to social and cultural borders. The criminal justice system has had many instances where corruption had affected the outcome of a case and has inserted itself into the legal process.

One of the most important characteristics of an effective leader is integrity. “Integrity is a moral quality of social life that inheres cognitive effort, but also binds and mobilizes positive emotions” (Mintrop, 2012). Understanding the definition of integrity and how to apply it at the moment of taking decisions, will allow leaders to be an example of honesty that will develop into trust from the followers. “As your integrity grows, so
Arguably the most powerful leader in the world to date Genghis Khan was an immoral leader who successfully built the world's largest empire in history. There have been many leaders, some moral some not. The leaders who rule with fear and violence are more effective because people have motivation to work hard and fast. But leaders who do have morals achieve less than leaders without. In the book Lord of the Flies you can see the differences between Ralph a moral leader and Jack and moral leader and the differing outcomes of both leaderships.
My argument is not that ethical leaders are more effective as leaders, merely that followers appreciate leaders that are ethical in their approach; thus increasing trust in leaders. We want our leaders to be trustworthy, transparent and forthright, with the ability to know if they are not.

It would be convenient to start this research paper by stating that corruption is a challenge mainly for businesses in developing countries and that it is unrelated to the current affliction of the economy in the United States. It would also be convenient to claim corruption has declined in America as a result of awareness raising campaigns and the numerous anti-corruption laws. But none of those aforementioned statements would be true. Corruption is not the exception, but rather the rule in today’s business practices.
