In my eyes I believe that a society based on hate will not survive. throughout history there have been many societies that tried to be based on hate: for example, nazi germany, north korea, the KKK. Winston says that a society based on hate "would have no vitality. It would disintegrate. It would commit suicide" (Orwell 231).
O'Brien says "Old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love or justice. Ours is founded upon hatred. In our world there will be no emotions except fear and rage" (Orwell 230). Here O'Brien implies that their society will survive because they are not founded on love like old civilizations that eventually disappeared. We believe that a society based on hate can survive, just like Oceania has survived for many years. O'Brien is correct in saying that a hate-based society can survive, except that he forgot to mention that this society meet one requirement: It must be an isolated community. Oceania is a hate-based society that meets this requirement by being isolated from Eastasia and Eurasia, this isolation will allow for the society of Oceania to survive. 1984 by George Orwell

The Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party, and the Al-Qaeda organization prove the existence and possibility of such societies. The daily mail reporter said in an article named 'How North Korean children are taught to hate the US' that, "North Korean students learn that their country has had two main enemies: the Japanese and the U.S., which fought against North Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War".
