Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist leader who fought for negro equality and rights. King was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. His father, who was a pastor, fought against segregation. Without knowing it, his father would set the path for King to become a great leader. As years passed, King became more involved in his community and fight segregation. He led the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955, which boycotted the usage of the bus until the Jim Crow law was removed. This law required any African American to give up their seat to a White female or male. The boycott lasted 385 days, but eventually the Jim Crow law was removed.
