From research and studies it has been identified at several points that the ancient Greek as well as Roman philosophies, political as well as other social aspects have had a strong and long-lasting contribution towards the formulation and maintenance of the contemporary society. It is believed that the western or the contemporary society that today occupies the Western Europe and North America is basically a mesh of varied ancient cultures. The two main cultures out of these were described as the Greek as well as Roman culture.
Greek political aspects have somewhat been responsible in shaping the political ideals for the modern day society. It is safe to say that the Greeks were promoters of the democratic ideas. An evidence of this can be observed that Athens was the hub for the birth of democratic ideals. It was also responsible for the formation of assemblies and their functioning, after being elected. Additionally Roman and Greek cultures formed the basis for the modern day structuring of the buildings and roads as well as other structures. Romans were the nation that came up with the modern day calendar with holidays mentioned. Of course there have been changes in the language and aspects used ever since but are needless to say that these changes have not changed the very essence of the said culture and have formed the basis of the Contemporary culture.
