How Did Walt Disney Grow During The Great Depression

Walt Disney is a house hold name to most families, he is the man who is known for creating one of the largest companies in the world (Disney). Though he almost didn’t have the chance to start this company. Starting with his love for art since he was born on 1901 in Chicago, IL. At the age of 16 Walt Disney became a Red Cross member driving an ambulance, and this is where he began drawings designs and cartoons in the ambulance. He then worked as a cartoonist in Kansas but that ended fairly quickly.
After that he then moved to California where he began his company with his brother Roy Disney. In the partnership Roy focused on the business aspects while Walt focused on the creative aspects. The business began when they took out a small loan, …show more content…

Though he was obsessed with having the newest technology in his work, and was willing to get the money anyway at one point even allowed tabloid to use Mickey Mouse in one of their promotions for 300 dollars. That eventually led him to winning an Academy Award in 1932, and win 26 Oscars in his lifetime.
In the 1930’s and 40’s they had employed over 1000 people, but around that time it was a tough time for American businesses. Though Walt Disney managed to get through all the difficulties such as the great depression, WW2, and many other diversities it faced. To this day they are one of the largest companies, and some of their most famous movies and stories were created by Walt and are still highly appreciated. Though WW2 did halt production of movies for a while.
Some movies where he has won awards and are still popular are movies such as “Snow White, Cinderella," and etc… But all of this was possible because he had a dream to start a company and draw. As he once said “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”, and feel he lived by these words because he truly showed these traits as he lived, and created such an iconic company.
