Introduction Employee withdraw, also known as employee turnover is always a topic that is often brought up in research, especially in the areas of organisational behaviour and industrial psychology. “Beginning with the early studies of Bernays (1910) and Crabb (1912) and continuing to the present, well over 1,000 separate studies on the subject can be identified,” (Richard & Richard, 1979, p. 1) however, only less than 20% of the in turnover variance is explained in those research. (Mobley, Griffeth, Hand, & Meglino, 1979). Employee turnover is very costly for an organisation, based on steward’s study, on average, an organisation loses $47,000 when replacing employee with 2 or more years’ tenure, and around $9,000 for replacing a first year employee” (Stewart, 2011) It was also found that in a high tech firm, about 2.8 million USD or 16.5 percent of the before-tax annual income has been lost due to withdrawal behaviors. (Sagie, Birati & Tziner, 2002) Though only less than 20% of the variance is explained, employee turnover is greatly affected by his/her job satisfaction. In fact, most turnover theories suggest that job satisfaction directly and negatively relates to employees’ intentions to quit their jobs, which in turn positively relate to actual turnover.
