“ A villain is a victim whose story hasn't been told yet”. In many stories the villain is typically perceived as evil, manipulative, and fighting. Often times, the villain is cause for pain, suffering, and the demise of others. In the tragedy Othello by shakespeare, Iago, The antagonist of the play demonstrates the villainous traits of a sociopath, unlike Iago, the protagonist of the play are honorable and trustworthy. Iago portrays a great deal of fraudulence, deviousness, and complete disregard for others.

Throughout the play Iago portrays a great deal of fraudulence, He acts as if all he wants is the success of others but it is the complete opposite. Throughout the Play he it seemed as if that he and Rodrigo were the bestest of friends. He gives Rodrigo something he seemed to not have much of , Hope he gave Rodrigo hope that one day with his help he could win over desdemona for him while getting his revenge on Othello at the same time. Iago is by far the fakest character anyone could ever read about. Second way he portrays Fraudulence was the fact that he turned a loyal, loving husband into a man filled with wonders and hate for his wife. Iago and Othello questioning his …show more content…

Iago does not care for others, only time he displays regard for others is when he knows he will gain something out of it. For example he promised Rodrigo for a fee he could get Desdemona to dump Othello and wed him but, Iago’s plan was to take all of poor Rodrigo's fortune while blaming all the horrific events on Rodrigo. Another example that Iago does not have regards for others is, he uses his wife Emilia to steal Desdemona's scarf that was given to her by Othello which used to belong to Othello’s grandmother so it meant a lot to him. Once Iago had the scarf in his possession he used that to manipulate Othello into believing that His wife Desdemona was cheating on him which led to Othello taking her
