Rock ‘n’ roll, an era in which started the expansion of music to what we now know today. Music is such an important part of the world that we live in. Music is everywhere, on TV and radio, in the stores in our car. We use music within our educational systems and also used for therapies dealing with disorders. But where did Rock and Roll come from and what is the story of how it began?

The title of the website is the first thing that caught my attention. I am a sort of person that is interested in the details of how an event came about. So to learn where the term “Rock and Roll” came from grabbed me right away. Then the website’s detail of the actual start of rock and roll was the deciding factor.

Alan Freed had been playing rock and roll types of music on his radio program but it was Leo Mintz that changed history. During this current time period the new music was called race records and Leo was having trouble getting white customers to buy them. So Leo, being a sponsor of Alan’s show, encouraged him to use the term rock and roll to describe this type of music. Once the brand of rock and roll caught on, the records shot to popularity within all ethnicities.

The third interesting fact coincides with the interesting person about the location of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1980 when they were deciding where to open the hall of fame, they chose Cleveland because of Alan Freed. He played such an enormous roll in the beginning of rock and roll with his radio program. He ultimately was the one, “popularizing rock and roll music and the branding the style of music “rock and roll”.”(Hiskey) Because of him today we visit Cleveland to see the Rock and Roll Hall of
