Be Thankful As we approach Thanksgiving Day, Let us all take time to pray, And count our blessings, rich or poor, That we can all be thankful for: Be thankful for each day's sunrise, And love that shines through children's eyes. Be thankful for each set of sun, So lovely when the day is done. Be thankful for the stars that gleam, And ocean, mountain, lake, and stream. Be thankful for the air so free, And for each flower, plant, and tree. Be thankful for the sky above, And grateful for the ones we love. Be thankful for the universe, And for our God Who loved us first. Be thankful that in our Lord's grace, He went to Calvary in our place To forgive our sins so we may be Living on eternally. The list goes on if we just try To keep an open mind and eye. We find that blessings do abound If we just stop and look around! HUMOR I’m not sure when this happened because I just wrote the month, day and time, but not the year. What I had …show more content…
I awoke and the poem was still whirling around in my mind. I was exhausted, but intrigued and amused, so I dragged myself out of bed, went downstairs still half asleep and bleary-eyed, fumbled around for a paper and pencil, and wrote it down because I knew I would never remember it in the morning. I also knew that I wouldn’t remember it because it is not something that I had ever thought about nor would have written about. It just seemed to be a dumb little poem, but people who hear it now think it’s cute. I had no way of knowing that this was the beginning of many more such instances when my sleep would be interrupted by this “nudging” to get up and write. It isn’t always easy because I like my sleep, and getting out of a warm, cozy bed to go down to a cool living room in the wee hours of the morning isn’t always appealing! But I know that I have to do it because, when I don’t, the poem is completely gone from my mind in the
I heard the faint high pitched beeping of my alarm clock as I opened my sleep covered eyes. I attempted to roll out from under my covers but immediately retreated as I felt the chilly spring air touch my skin. While I was mustering up the motivation to get out of bed, I glanced at my alarm clock. “11:00 AM” it read in boxy, glowing numbers. Had I really slept in that long? I finally rose from my bed, traveling down the stairs to make myself some breakfast. “Hi, girl!” I greeted my dog where she was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. I smiled to myself as I turned on some music, opened the fridge to retrieve some eggs, and turned on the stove. It felt like a fine Saturday morning until I remembered that I had a lacrosse game later
This year Thanksgiving is on November 23,2017. Every year my family Thanksgiving is the best, to me at least. So we always have Thanksgiving at my Grandmas and Grandpas, but not this year we are having it at my house. Which I mean could be good and bad. Good is it is at my house so it’s cool and bad, the house has to be completely spotless or my mom will freak out. Normally what we do every year is we get my family together and have dinner, mess around, and watch football. This year my dad's brother is coming with his three daughters and his wife and my grandpa and grandma. I really can’t wait to see them all because I don't really see them that much as I would like to. When we have a family dinner like this we always have a lot of food for everyone.
You don't have to travel far to enjoy Thanksgiving. Take a break from the stove and let someone else do the cooking. You can choose to stay close to home or pick a weekend excursion with these 5 great Thanksgiving destinations. This is the time where towns and cities in Florida throw Thanksgiving festivities, with many kicking off the holiday season with parades.
Are you thankful for something? Well I am. I’m thankful for a roof over my head, good health, and family. Being thankful is when you express your gratitude and relief to others that do a lot for you. You can show someone you're thankful by doing the littlest things. So this Thanksgiving show someone how thankful you are. It doesn’t even have to be Thanksgiving, you can thank someone anyday. You can show thanks by baking cookies for a loved one, or you could even just tell someone thanks. I hope you take what I just told you, and go thank someone, because it’s not that hard. Now I’m going to tell you what I’m thankful for and why.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and people all over America are preparing for meals that will feed the entire family. Trying to pick out the right food and the best desserts can be hectic. Planning for the Thanksgiving dinner would be much easier if we had the perfect recipes everyone would enjoy.
Thanksgiving is a time for many things: food, family, and, with Black Friday sales starting earlier each year, shopping. It’s also a time for giving thanks, something most people forget about despite the presence of the word “thanks” in the name of the holiday. People have a tendency to forget about this part, though, because it’s easy to take the people and animals we love for granted. Sometimes, it’s hard to appreciate them at all, especially when you have a cat whose been labeled the “bad cat” like my family’s cat, Shadow.

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, in English we were given the task of giving a “gift of writing”. That means that we had to write a letter to someone that we love and are thankful for but aren’t entirely sure how to express just how thankful for them we really are. I immediately thought of you. Although we have only known each other since sixth grade, I feel like it's been forever. You are always there for me in my times of need. For example when I broke on my foot on your knee while teaching you how to play lacrosse. I was in pain a lot of pain very quickly and you did everything you could to comfort me, which included carrying me to and from the treehouse. You are always willing to try new things (even if they aren’t always
Foolishly, I believe that perhaps I can fall asleep again if I try hard enough; and I spend the time trying to convince myself that if I bury my head in my pillow and cocoon myself in the sheets like a scared child, then maybe, just maybe, I can pretend like today never has to happen, and I can find comfort in sleep just a short while longer.
Everyone has different plans on Thanksgiving, some families travel, others relax. It’s always nice to know how other people celebrate the holiday. Asking about 10 other students what they did on Thanksgiving and traditions, this is what was collected. I found out that not all families have the same kind of Thanksgiving, separating from culture to activities.
My plans of going to bed early didn’t work out so well. I knew that if I could get a good night’s rest, then I would enjoy myself more during that coming week. Although, distractions lead to distractions, and I was sitting in the kitchen talking to my dad. What he told me, and what would happen during the week, would change me forever.
In a Hispanic house hold no one ever arrives on time so we start eating the food no earlier than nine o’clock pm. Its not a true Thanksgiving if you don’t have turkey and some pork alongside the turkey. We have very delicious dishes like white rice and black beans, with abuelas amazing congri, with the great curtido salad, stuffing, mashed potatoes, potatoes salad, yuca with garlic sauce, and many more tasty dishes. The scrumptious dinner is then followed by a favorable dessert. The typical dessert would be some flan, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. Thanksgiving and Christmas are both a family affair, and I mean the whole family. As we all gather around the table and say Grace. After grace is said then the feasting begins. After the appetizing
I was planning to hit the studio and start recording my mixtape. But before I could lift myself up all the way across town I layed in bed wording lyrics to myself. I snatched my notebook from my tagged and torn-up backpack. It was half past 10 and to my surprise I was awake. I write most of my songs in the morning. It’s like I’m closer to who I really am because I was just asleep. Anyway I was tapping my pen on the notebook struggling to make lyrics off the top of my head. Alright, okay I got it.
More so, God said, “It’s not good for a man to be alone.” It’s sure good to be with you!
Recently we wrote about Thanksgiving celebration in our Canadian office and their support to the local organization “Fare Share Food Bank” who help families in need.
