Becoming a Physical Therapist Being a student is not always an easy task. From having extremely high expectations to constantly being asked by adults what we plan to do after high school, the standards that most students try to stand up to can be quite challenging. There are so many different jobs and degrees that it is basically impossible to know what we plan to do for sure. Many students go into college with an undecided major and may even go for a few years before figuring out. Most colleges nowadays are even allowing students to have an option to create their own major because of the excessive variety in life today. The amount …show more content…
I knew most of the tasks that were done because I have went through physical therapy for quite a few months, allowing me to observe and pick up on certain things. I liked being able to see the different issues people were dealing with and how they would work to find a solution because then I was able to compare it to my experience. Most of the people were nice and easy to talk to, which made the job shadow entertaining. However, not all patients are as nice as you would like them to be and I got to view that as well. I learned quite a bit as Casey used many terms that I had not heard before and he explained them to me and what their purposes are. I also learned that no two people have the same healing process and what might work for some, might not work for others. Also the healing time applies to many different factors such as age, lifestyle, type of injury, mobility/fitness, and a person’s willingness to get better and work hard.
People say one of the most important things about deciding on a career is to make sure it is something that you have a strong passion for and would never get tired doing. I really want to be able to help people and make a difference in their lives. Also it’s nice to see someone make progress and get better, which would give anyone a good feeling knowing they helped people through hardships. Since a higher education is needed to become a physical therapist, I would have to go to college to get a degree, which also works really well for me because I love to learn. Another thing that makes me interested in this job is because I have went through physical therapy myself, so I would be able to better relate to the patients and sympathize with how they feel and what they are going though. Physical Therapists spend most of their time on their feet, helping the patients which suit my preferences because I want to up and moving around for my job, not sitting behind a desk all

Schooling and all the paper works and seeing and dealing with problems in daily basis might cause a burnout on a person interest to peruse in the
Physical therapist assistants spend so much time getting to know their patients. Most of the time, patients will need therapy 3 times a week for at least 4 weeks. Seeing patients that often really lets you get to know someone. I love communicating with people and seeing them improve. I work at a physical therapy clinic and see the connection between the therapist and patient. The patient’s want to be there. They like knowing they can get answers from the therapist providing treatment if they need to ask a question
PTs examine each individual patient and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and to prevent disability. They make people young and old feel better and let them know in time when they will be healed. The PTs know how to ease the pain when the patients come to see them. The patients would most likely have a smile on their face because the Physical therapist would help reduce their pain and make it go away for a while and help them be able to move with ease. They would also most likely have a smile on their face, because they would feel better after their visit.
Exploring career choices can be one of the most tasking process that one will come upon. Starting off, I always wanted to be a hairstylist. Years went on, then it changed to nurse, then psychiatrist, and finally settled on what I am now most passionate about, physical therapy. Physical therapy really appeals to me because I love life and I want everyone to be able to live life to the fullest. I want to be there for people who need help getting back on their feet, literally. The working environment for a physical therapist can vary to several places. Some of the most common work environments include rehabilitation facilities, fitness centers, schools, and private practice facilities. Even though the locations physical therapist differ,
I think a career like physical therapy would be a good fit for me.

In many ways physical therapy is similar to other health care fields. Rules, regulations, and standard of care is basically the same, however the environment and relationship with the patients is quite different. Physical Therapy clinics tend to be much more relaxed than other forms of health care. Physical therapist will typically go by their first names and dress in business casual to athletic attire. This helps the therapists seem more approachable and allows them to build stronger relationships with their patients. Unlike many other health professions, physical therapists can see a patient multiple times a week, for months. The patient-provider relationship becomes very close and often personal. This is one of the reasons that physical therapy attracted me so much. Getting to spend quality time with patients while building their strength and getting to know more about them as a person seemed like a worthwhile use of my abilities. Contemporary health care can at times seem like a wellness factory. A sick patient comes in, you fix them up and then it’s on to the next one. This attitude is not compassionate and is not conducive to growth for

For my career I chose, physical therapy. The reason I had chose this to be my career, is because I love to help people. What I’d like to learn about this career is how many different ways I can learn to help people. One thing I read up on about physical therapy is that, there are different types of physical therapy. They vary from a patient working to recover mobility lost after a stroke needs to a patient who is recovering from a sports injury (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The thing I love most about helping out people is setting a goal for myself and the patient. Without goals, you feel like you have nothing to look forward on and achieve to help gain strength and mobility. People who need physical therapy vary from little kids who broke a leg and need to relearn how to
