When I write an assignment, three things are constant; the technology I use (smartphone and laptop computer), the beverage I drink (hot chocolate ), and the location I do my writing (the living room in my house). I am using the final assignment for the course “Introduction to Business” to describe my writing process. In this paper I needed to discuss every aspect of a product, from the manufacturing to the purchase of the final product by the customer.
The product selection was left up to me, so a list of possible candidates was created. I subsequently eliminated those that had too complicated or too simple manufacturing process, also those too common to be memorable. With the elimination performed, I finally settled on chocolate being the
Those that write always have a writing process whether they know it or not. A writing process can be defined by the way an individual gears up for the project at hand. It can be as simple as finding a favorite chair to write in or the act of planning out the writing beforehand. My own personal writing process varies from task to task with a few constants. I generally start my writing process by first reconciling my project; figuring out the best way to express the needs of the work. I do not write down notes or an outline in regards to the project mostly relying on winging it so as not to get hung up on sticking to the outline. I will my best to knock out large chunks of the project before taking any breaks unless I hit a wall, and
Teachers, parents, and friends often tell students exactly what the writing process should entail and how long it should take. However, the older I get, the more I realize that the writing process varies not only from person to person, but also from one writing project to the next. Throughout my years of life, I have written countless papers, ranging from a persuasive speech to an extensive research paper, and each project requires an altered version of my personal writing process. While each individual has his own writing process, there can be many similarities between different writing processes. Finding one’s individual writing process takes trial, error, and repetition. When an individual finally uncovers his unique writing process, better thought, work, and writing is produced.
The writing of my college essay was quite a process. Normally for me writing comes rather easy, I do not struggle putting my ideas on paper. At first I thought that this essay would be simple to do and not be very stressful. It turned out to be quite the opposite in fact, just brainstorming was a struggle for me. It was difficult for me to think about my life and how it is special. To me, the events that have shaped me do not seem that relevant, at 18 I had never really payed much attention to how certain things affected me, I just lived my life. eventually , with the help of Mary, I came to the realization that having my summer taken away from me due to a broken foot had really changed my life philosophy, it truly changed who I was and my outlook on life.
Over the past four months, I have made great strides as a writer. The area where I have seen the most growth is in my use of the writing process. Prior to my enrollment in this course, I would sit down and write all my papers in one sitting. This class has taught me how to lay out a plan for my papers. I have learned how to effectively brainstorm/research, draft, and revise my writings before I complete them. Also I have learned to not just stop there, instead I am now going back and reflecting on my work after I complete it. This allows me to identify where I prospered and also where my downfalls may have been. With this information, I am able to apply this to future writings of mine; lessons that will stay with me forever.
The first semester of W131 has given me the chance to become more familiar with my strengths and weaknesses in my writing process. One of the main things I contribute to my progression in writing is practice and revision. W131 has given me the resources I need to become an effective writer by pushing me to think deeper about what writing process works best for me. To find what writing process works for me, I have experimented with different writing techniques along with alternative reading techniques to allow me to retain more detail. Although I improved some skills during the first half of W131, I still have many skills that could be critiqued to enhance my writing process and essays.
I am going to explain what I feel when it comes to writing and what pictures represent me when it comes to the writing process. I have very mixed feelings when it comes to writing because it mostly depends on the subject that I am writing on to determine how I feel on the writing process. I feel really excited when it comes to writing because I love to express myself when writing it just makes me feel good inside. I also sometimes feel really bad when writing because sometimes l just don’t want to write about some subjects. It depends how I feel about the subject because some subjects I feel very strong about subjects and others not so much. I hate some subjects because they bore me so much that it is hard for me to write about many subjects
My writing rituals are I prefer writing when I am not home. I write when work is slow or when I am on my lunch break. When I have no other choice, but to write at home I tend to watch a little TV, and get myself some something to munch on. That method clears my head from any stress I have from work, and it helps me have a little of me time. When I feel relax that is when I become committed to writing. When I experience writer’s block what I do is just take mini pauses when I am writing. I get out of my room, check my phone to text some of my friends, and check my social media to at least laugh at something, then get back to writing my essay. Another thing I enjoy doing since I experience sciatica due to a disc protrusion on my back, I just
Every man is born or implanted with a gift designed for his or her destiny in life. Some have a natural born gift as a writer and some are not quite blessed in that field. As a dawdler, my writing process consists of plenty of procrastination and has often resulted in low essay grades; to be better myself as a writer I plan to start on assignments early, research the topic, and expand my genre of texts. Acknowledging transgressions of your writing will help a writer become more successful or better because he has recognized his weakness and now know what to fix.
Each small scenarios that happen in our live can have either a major or minor impact on them. For me, it had a major impact. The way I go about writing now is more clear. I put more thought into my thinking process first. Before I decide what I want to write about I make a list. The top part of my list are the things that are either important to me or just easy to talk about, as long as it stands true to the topic or prompt. This is important because beforehand I just picked something and wrote the bare minimum I needed to have to get an A or B in high school ,which is not very hard with certain teachers. From changing this one step my whole writing process became easier. This scenario, did start off very damaging. My attitude towards
When there was nothing else for me to do and my supervisor was on the phone, I began doing some homework until she gave me the next task. My supervisor was very rude and told me to closed down what I was doing, not caring that I was in the middle of a quiz. She scolded me as if I was her child and told me I was not allowed to do my homework there no matter if everything else was done and she was on the phone. And I asked her if I was supposed to sit there and do nothing until you get off the phone and she never answered. I told her I did not mean to disrespect her in any way by doing my homework there but I made sure that everything else was done before doing so. I stated that I was not sure how long she would be on the phone because the last
Writing. I believe I know a thing or two about writing, I am able to create a text that successfully accomplish its purpose. But i also have numerous flaws and mistakes.
How will you use knowledge and skills you’ve developed in this class in your academic career / life? Give examples.
“When I write, I am always struck at how magical and unexpected the process turns out to be.” Writer Ralph Fletcher shares. I would not describe my writing process as magical or unexpected. Writing – formal writing, at least – does not come naturally to me and I struggle to put my thoughts into words. I would not describe my writing process as “magical” or “unexpected” because structure is valuable to me, I am easily frustrated, and I feel I am too slow of a writer.
In my writing process, pre-writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular.
My writing process is to first write to myself because when i write a story i tell myself the story. But when i rewrite my main job is to take out all the things that is not the story. I also try not to use a passive voice because timid writers like passive verbs for the same reason that timid lovers like passive partners, But the passive voice is always safe. The adverb is not your friend. Sometimes I catch myself obsessing over bad grammar, I tend to tell myself that the object of function isn’t grammatical correctness but to make me and the reader welcome and then tell the story. Editing and revising plays a very important role in my reflection, Just to make sure that my writing piece makes sense to me and the reading. I found it very useful that watching TV
