Becoming a nurse means to truly understand, embrace, and acquire the characteristics of an educator, an advocate, a comforter, a therapist, a listener and most importantly a care giver. My goal as an undergraduate nurse is to acquire these characteristics and master them so that I can care for any patient regardless
Caring for others has always been a passion of mine, and becoming a nurse has always been my dream. While my dream has turned reality, I can say that nursing has blessed me with the opportunity to not only be a servant to those in my community, but it has also allowed me to be of some comfort to patients and their loved ones during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Nursing offers a variety of opportunities, where the only restrictions are the ones we set for ourselves. As for myself, all things are possible, for if I want it, I strongly believe it’s already mine. The depths that I will go to reach the latitude of success that I so desire is boundless.
From the article “How to Make It in College, Now That You’re Here,” the writer Brain O’keeney mentioned at the end of it, “Going to colleges can be an exciting time. You do learn. And when you learn things, the world becomes a more interesting place” (690). Deciding in learning things or understanding points sometimes are dreary, but there are lots of things and ways that radically refreshed it and make it interesting for us. Learning supplies people understanding processes, and that can be existing and gratifying for them.
Nursing is a profession where you promote health and care for the ill. It is one of the most rewarding yet most complex professions there is with a wide variety of units and roles to choose from. However, many times when nurses practice in specialty fields or have special interests they subsequently have a desire to work with collogues who also share the same interests and later accompany an organization together. Nursing organizations give nurses an opportunity to get a bigger image of what nursing is all about, while also permitting them to explore new trends that might be related to their scope of practice. It also empowers nurses to feel confidence when they acquire leadership roles, to find a voice and to network with colleagues. Nursing

As a student it is very important to go through all the electives the school provides because in some cases it could provide with such as, LVN so students are able to get a glimpse of what career they would like to part in. Also, as mentioned on Nursingworld.org it is necessary that after finishing with college to pass an exam given by local licensing board. Most assume that passing a class is the most important part, but when dealing with helping people it is important to actually remember what was taught in college. School isn't to be thought of just classes to pass it should be to gain knowledge from that will come in handy when dealing with real life situations. Becoming a
I am an Associate's Degree Registered Nurse. I do not hold any nursing certifications, but I am a Certified Hospital Emergency Professional and a Certified Hospital Safety Professional. These certifications deal with my job as the Safety Officer and Disaster Planner at the rural hospital where I work. I have considered attempting to become certified in Infection Prevention and have attended the APIC Primer, 101, and 201 training courses. However, I have not been able to gain enough courage to attempt the certification exam. I also did some of the prerequisite work to attempt a Quality Professional certification. I never felt I had enough of an understanding of statistics to pass the exam so I didn't pursue it further than a couple of
My purpose in obtaining a Nurse Practitioners (NP) degree is to discover the way God wants me to serve others. I have prayed that I find a job as an NP where I can use my skill set to best serve patients in my practice. Proverbs 19:21 states, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails (New International Version).
Since I was in grade school I always had a dream of going to college and becoming a doctor. I pushed myself to maintain an “A average” and continued to be involved in sports and school activities. Both my personal and professional lifetime goals in life are to provide and offer true love and compassion for humanity. With my goal of obtaining a nursing degree is extremely important to me as it would allow me the opportunity to fulfill my career goals and desires.
Understanding the barriers that prevent nurses from being able to respond to the rapidly changing health care system was the motivation behind the initiative led by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation (RJWF) in 2008. In 2010, the IOM report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health was published with several recommendations to transform nursing. This paper will look at three of those recommendations and the author will explain how they impact her nursing career. Furthermore, the author will reflect on the impact of increasing one’s education, job market options, and nursing role opportunities.
I’ve always loved helping people, so when I tore my ACL and saw the painful journey up close, I realized how much I wanted to be a part of other people’s healing process. When I was at the hospital, I had an up close view of these nurses and doctors at work. This got me interested in health sciences. To be able to support others every day seems like the right career for me. In consideration of this interest, will becoming a nurse practitioner fulfill my need to help people?
In the fall of 2017 I plan to attend Grace College and major in nursing and graduate with a bachelor's degree. Throughout my whole life I have always loved helping people by either going to mission trips or helping out for a fundraiser’s at my church. I have realized this early on in my life which has inspired me to pursue a nursing degree so that I can improve the lives of others. By researching different areas of where nurses can work I have always wanted to work in a large hospital and be a surgical nurse. I feel like this job fits many different areas of my life which include loving science and math classes, being a problem solver, being able to work long hours, and knowing where everything is at. There are many different options that come
Making way downtown in a dirty, congested country, I see blind people selling nuts in the street in return for some money. Being merely a tourist in Egypt, my actions wouldn't prevail any good-doings due to my age and lack of experience in the medical field. All I could do was buy nuts, donate some money and food, and I was off my way, back home. As I grew older, I've become more aware that my desire to get into an amazing school at home with a nursing program is a big desire in my life. NYU can make it happen for me. From enrolling aspiring doctors to actors, the school which is located in the heart of Washington Square Park, is the place where I most desire to be. Due to its sheer location in the heart of the city, many students are allowed to take on internships, and use a variety of a diverse staff and and resources.
I would first like to tell a bit about myself because it will show why I should be a part of the honors program. I am returning student and busy mother of four children. In addition to school and family responsibilities, I work two part time jobs to assist my husband with supporting the family. With all of the demands of my time I have still strived for academic excellence. I was rewarded last semester with placement on the Dean’s list and acceptance into the nursing program. I plan on Graduating from the program with honors and I will do whatever it takes to that end. I would like to participate in the honors program because I believe that the program will provide further opportunities for academic success. As a returning student I have gained confidence in my academic abilities and wish to challenge myself further because it is my belief that one can’t achieve true success without working to their highest potential. For me success is not simply defined financially or professionally but by one’s dedication to excellence.
