Eventually, he ended his rampage in a third floor lecture hall where he shot and wounded several more people before ending his own life. Suicide notes found on him revealed that his motives were based on his hatred for feminists, stating that they have “ruined his life”. It also revealed a hit list containing 15 public figures, probably found through news media sources, but stated that he was unable to act upon it. Instead, all his victims turned out to be strangers that were unfortunate enough to be caught in the killing spree (Maser, 1987).
The serial killer I chose to do my report on was Dennis Rader. Rader was born on March 9, 1945 in Pittsburg, Kansas and as of today he is still alive. Rader was the oldest of four sons. When Dennis was a child he hung stray cats. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Rader served our country by joining the U.S Air Force which he served from the mid to late 1960’s. He got married to Paula in 1971 and he work for a company that sold camping gear but he only worked there for a few years. He worked for ADT services in 1974.

With graduation right around the corner and wedding plans to make with his fiancé, he seemed to have the world at his feet. So who is the ‘Craigslist Killer’?

Before he would kill in Illinois he would go back to the Palm Springs area and kill again. In spring of 1995 he met Denise Maney a prostitute from the area. He did his usual thing he drove her out to the desert where they had sex, but then he did something he had only done with Jennifer Asbenson, he began to rape her. This time his victim wasn’t able to get away he made her walk into the desert after he restrained her. When they got a good distance into the desert he put the gun into her mouth and shot killing Maney instantly. Urdiales would go back to Illinois and kill someone who was a little closer to him than the previous victims. In April of 1996 Laura Uylaki who had gone on a couple of dates with Urdiales was with Urdiales near Wolf Lake. An argument had broken out between the two and when Urdiales showed his gun to Uylaki, she made an attempt to get out of the truck and get away but Urdiales ran after her fired his weapon and killed Uylaki. Too dispose of the body Urdiales, dumped her into the lake. His next victim would be dumped a little closer to Pontiac. On July 13, 1996, Urdiales met Cassandra Corum, a prostitute from the Hammond Indiana area. They were in Urdiales truck when an argument occurred, he then handcuffed her, taped her feet, taped her mouth shut, and took her clothes off. There are several risk factors that put Joanne at High Risk for suicide. She states that she did not want to stay and talk, but that she “just wanted to go for a drive” and has a gun in the car, so she is at a high risk given the methods and accessibility to those methods (Jackson-Cherry & Erford, 2018). She has previous suicide attempts, while there is no time frame on when those prior attempts took place, it places her in at a moderate risk at the very least (if 1 to 5 years ago) (Jackson-Cherry & Erford, 2018). She does not report loneliness or hopelessness at this current moment, but given her history of depression, past divorce and no significant other, admissions of guilt over an affair, having no hobbies and getting “all her satisfaction” from work, it is likely that she has or current is experiencing some level of loneliness, and her past attempts are potentially indicative of hopelessness; all these factors put her at a minimum of a moderate risk, but further information would probably lead to a high risk. The divorce, lack of relationship or mention of friendships does put the loneliness at a high risk due to having limited support (Jackson-Cherry & Erford, 2018). There is no mention of substance abuse. There is also no point that she states suicidal plans or ideation, but her behaviors show some ideation present. Her risk factors for chance of intervention are dependent on
“My son was murdered at Doherty Park. He was shot in the back five times but nobody saw it out of 200 people. On August 26 this man came up behind him and shot him in the back and that way the person was the winner [of the feud]. Nobody saw it, not his friends or adults,” said King.

The murder then walked 500 yards up to Hartnells car where he carved the Zodiac symbol on the car door. Beneath it was written "Vallejo/12-20-68/7-4-69/Sept 27-69-6:30/ by knife" (wikipedia). Later that day at around 7:40in the evening, the Napa County Sheriff’s Department got a call from the killer; he reported his most recent crime. The killer had called from a payphone, the phone was found hanging off the hook, a few minutes later at a Car Wash on Main Street in Napa. If a close friend of mine came to me and said: "I know you are studying abnormal psychology and I was wondering if you could help me. My roommate has been making some vague comments about wanting to die and once even said that she wanted to kill herself. I don't know if this is a real problem and if I should take it seriously, or if she is just saying this stuff to blow off steam or get attention. And I don't want to make it worse by asking about it. I don't know what to do”.
On July 7th, 2016, Michael George Smith Jr. was found hanging from a tree in Piedmont Park. Police ruled his death as a suicide, but of course everyone, including myself, suspected foul play. In addition to Michael's death, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were both killed earlier that week. Both whom were unarmed and not disturbing any peace, yet were still shot and killed by the police. In response to all three of their deaths, protests erupted throughout downtown Atlanta.
