Having one severe disease can lead to have a tuff life or even more it can cost someone's life. In the earlier years before the 70’s obesity started to increase, and people were not aware of what was causing this epidemic. In these earlier years fast food restaurants started to increase so did their costumer's this caused more and more people to consume meals out of their homes. Now the big problem in this day is that many individuals don’t put a stop to this epidemic. Or many don't accept the truth behind these bad foods that can cause a big problem to the body. For my satire project, I focused on the topic of Obesity for which to find a humorous solution. Today obesity is an exponential problem in the United States. Americans are evolving into the laziest humans in the world because we don’t want to work towards the goal of being fit; all we want to do is take a pill and wake up skinny in a week’s time. The industry for weight loss and its advertisement has gone way too far, and they are steering us in a bad direction. Likewise, my targeted audience would be the industry of diet planning and those who fall into the trap of “losing thirty pounds a month” with a formulated shake or pills. America is facing a growing danger that has been gradually taking more and more years off of the life expectancy of its citizens. Obesity has been a growing issue throughout the United States over the last few decades and is one of the leading causes of preventable deaths in the country. This health issue, particularly childhood obesity, is definitely a health equity issue that needs to be addressed. Being overweight stems from and creates its own complexities that undoubtedly affect the determinants of health. There are two main angles public health can attack this issue from; developing a healthy public policy and developing personal skills with regards to health.

Obesity and being overweight Obesity/overweight issues need to be talked about among young women. I believe a woman can be and look beautiful at any weight. And just because someone is at a healthy weight does not necessarily mean they are healthy or just because someone is overweight, most people will automatically think it's because that person is a fatass or eat a lot, some people are overweight because of health issues or a slow metabolism. I also believe that everyone deserves respect and if a person has criticism; they can deliver it kindly. People think it's unimportant to talk about excessively overeating or binge eating.

“Obesity affects nearly 1 in 3 American adults” according to The National institute of Health. Obesity clearly is a common problem the U.S. and will permanently alter our family dynamic. It had changed our social behavior and our culture as a country. These changes stem from are weight discrimination, negatively influencing other family member’s lifestyles, and an over-eating culture.

In recent years, obesity rates continue to grow in the United States, not just overweight, socialization difficulties, but it is a society that is developing a new medical condition. However, a worrying number of overweight Americans living with this abnormal condition does nothing to fix their obstacle, satisfies with light diets, and few minutes a day of exercise. ''While the number of obese adults has doubled since the 1980s, extremely obese adults has quadrupled, currently affecting one in every 50 adults, an estimated 300,000 people in the United States die annually from obesity-related diseases'' (O’Donnell, par.4). Unfortunately, years ago obesity were not an overwhelming problem in proportion, as now, each person has to prevent the number of calories to consume a day to be in the healthy average. Across the country, obesity is an epidemic that affects the quality of life, because unbalanced diets cause our body’s improper nutrition and deficient the essential vitamins and minerals our bodies require. Obesity should not be seen as an epidemic, instead as a medical condition that can be solved and controlled through the following years.

Obesity does not discriminate against social status, sex, or race; it can take a person’s life and turn it upside down in the blink of an eye if they are not careful. Some people think of obesity as a worldwide killer because there is no outrunning it if it overtakes a person’s body. Every 1 in 3 adults are obese right here in America, that should give each and every individual some type of hint that there is a major problem occurring. Obesity has rapidly emerged as a serious health issue in America. The cause of obesity results from America’s social injustices. Today, food advertisements are in all places promoting an unhealthy lifestyle. Considering the great expense of healthy foods, low income families can barely afford fruits and vegetables. These two factors contribute to the increasing obesity rate in the United States. Unfortunately, it has taken an excessive amount of Americans to become obese for America to become aware of the issue and take action. Although obesity is still an increasing problem, America is fighting to reduce the number of obese citizens. As a result of low income and the media advertising unhealthy lifestyles, America is in the midst of an obesity epidemic.

Obesity problems, which one-third of Americans struggle with, is a “HUGE” problem in our society, no pun intended. The problems they encounter are numerous, including being bullied, low self-esteem, and often are the subject of jokes, such as the one often used by children, “fatty, fatty two by four, can’t get in the kitchen door!”. Being obese not only comes with mental and social issues, but there are also health and financial problems - whether you are not able to get a job because of the way you look or develop health issues such as heart disease or diabetes. Having to purchase two plane tickets because the seats are too small for an obese person is an unfair practice.

Do you know someone who is obese? Are you, yourself obese? Obesity has become an issue of great importance for the last twenty years, and little action has been taking against obesity.  Well there’s a solution to this epidemic. In order to combat this health problem in children, we now have regulations on school lunches. Also, they no longer sell caffeinated beverages in the school vending machines. There is a solution that won’t punish those who aren’t obese, letting them eat and drink however much of whatever they want. In order to truly crack down on obesity we must distribute the food based on body weight.

Between 1980 and 2002, the number of adults have doubled in obesity, and children have tripled. Discrimination due to obesity has spread throughout the countries. The definition of discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. Some people want to stop discrimination towards obese people. Considering there are so much discrimination and opinions, it is proven that many people are affected. In contrast, countless amount of people seem to believe that women are the main target of discrimination. There is research to show both sides of the issue.

Weight discrimination “generally refers to negative weight-related attitudes toward an overweight or obese individual” (Puhl 1). Obesity numbers started to skyrocket in the 1990s and weight discrimination started to become a problem about five years later. Obese individuals are susceptible to weight discrimination at health care facilities, school, work, and even in personal relationships. Studies have found that the chances of experiencing weight discrimination increase the more an individual weighs. “In our study, 10 percent of overweight women reported weight discrimination, 20 percent of obese women reported weight discrimination and 45 percent of very obese women reported weight discrimination. men were lower, with 3 percent of overweight, 6 percent of obese and 28 percent of very obese men reporting weight discrimination. This finding also tells us that women begin experiencing weight discrimination at lower levels of body weight than men” (Puhl 2). For women weight discrimination is more common than race discrimination.
