Grandparents relate more closely to grandchildren than to their own children in many ways. Grandparents and their children can be stubborn and not want to deal with each other anymore because of problems from the past. After so long grandparents give up on their children and deal with them from a distance. Grandparents are more willing to relate to their grandchildren more than their children because it is another chance of getting to know their children through their grandchildren.

I have earned a Legacy Scholarship for a number of reasons. I have attended schools in Mapleton since I was in preschool. Ever since then, I have loved going to school and have had many ambitions for myself. Because of that, I have always thought of myself as a precocious child. I believe I have had many responsibilities since I was young, and therefore making me very independent. For instance, my mom has worked nights for as long as I can remember. Because she would work nights, when I’d get home from school she would be on her way out for work. This meant that there was no one to tell me to do my homework or help me with it. Ever since I was in kindergarten I was a responsible and intelligent student and that has continued up to this date.
Throughout middle and high school, I have always taken accelerated courses in math, reading, science, etc. Although honors courses are challenging, they help me develop as a person. They taught me how to manage my time, work independently and with others, and ask for help. Before high school, the curriculum was not academically challenging, so I never asked teachers for help. When high school rolled around and I had to juggle four to five honors classes a semester, it was difficult to ask for help. Nevertheless, for the benefit of my education, I overcame this challenge. Asking for help is necessary for growth and success. This was particularly prevalent when I took AP Calculus BC. I visited my calculus teacher for help. We got to know each other in a way that couldn't be achieved in class. He even nominated me for student of the term. I learned that when given additional resources, such as teachers
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA as it is commonly known, is among the world’s largest art collections in North America, and to be specific enough the most prevalent artwork in the western United States (Compton 165). This massive art museum has a collection of over 100,000 artworks, which extends from the ancient times to present days (Gilbert and Mills 174). These collections, which are mainly from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin-America and America itself, are grouped into several departments within the museums buildings, depending on the region, culture, media, and time period. This paper analyzes the different genres of art and explains the main features that make the Islamic artworks
How we are viewed to the outside world plays a part in who we we are as individuals, it becomes apart of our identity. No matter how much we try to deny it, how others view us impact how we view ourselves. To the outside world I am just viewed as a Caucasian female, but in reality I am a Mexican American. Throughout the years I have just started to identify as being Caucasian because that is just what everyone assumes, now my case is mild. It has not deeply affected who I am as a person, but for other people they are not so lucky. Being in America we are shoved in stereotypes, there is no uniqueness you are viewed as either ‘good white folk’, hoodlums, or immigrants. Now imagine being viewed as the latter, your ‘race’ forces you into the tight space of discrimination. You are now identified as being a hoodlum, that always seems to
Throughout this fall semester, as a Preservice Middle Level Educator, I have been observing and engaging in Ms. Mahdi’s 7th grade Science class. It is at this placement that I have collected artifacts for a portfolio to illustrate a competency and achievement related to the Association for Middle Level Education standards. In this portfolio summary you will find various artifacts that help demonstrate these AMLE standards. The AMLE standards as a whole, cover academic growth and set an expectation for middle school teachers to be mindful that their middle school students are continuously experiencing social and cognitive changes that should be addressed thoughtfully, just as much as their academic needs.
The main purpose of this assessment is to guarantee a healthy baby, with low risk to Angie’s health. She is currently experiencing some complications at this stage in her pregnancy. In 2012 youth ages 15-24 were more than twice as likely to be laid of compared to those older than 25. The monthly layoff rate for youth was 3.5% while the rate for workers 25-54 was 1.3%. Workers 55 plus had a rate of 1.5% (Stats Canada,2013). In todays society youth enter the workforce unprepared, uneducated and unexperienced which leads to these high rates of unemployment and layoffs. Schools are not teaching the valuable lessons and skills youth need to enter the workforce with an advantage not a disadvantage. Although the schools are responsible for teaching the kids it is in fact the government who is responsible for offering more programs and proper programs to schools. By offering more programs designed to educate, prepare and
In 2015 the American Federal Government received 3.176 trillion dollars in taxes (‘whitehouse.gov’, 2015). In the same fiscal year, the American Federal Government spent 3.759 trillion dollars. Those trillions were collected by its Internal Revenue Service which is governed by Internal Revenue Code. The Internal Revenue Code is 74,608 pages long. For comparison the New American Edition of the Holy Bible is 1,900 pages. American taxpayers don’t want tax professionals; American taxpayers need tax professionals who specialize in navigating the current labyrinth that is the IRC. Americans are obligated to pay for the services the government provides. There’s an old saying about “a fool and his money”. Americans may be some the most charitable people in history, but they would be foolish not to protect themselves from overpaying taxes. It is virtuous to attempt to save the wealth one has generated in ones lifetime in order to secure prosperity for their families and posterity.
Something it is important in my life is outrigger paddling. I always will try to do anything I can to keep the tradition of paddling alive. Over the last five years I have been learning under one of my coaches and older paddlers how to rig the canoe in the strongest ways. I have started something this year called the “rigging crew” at outrigger canoe club where younger paddlers are taught to rig by older junior paddlers.
For the cenotaph I originally wanted to do my report on Elvis’s twin brother Jessie Garon however there is not a whole lot of information on him. Also this week was about military honors so I figured I should do the report on a more appropriate cenotaph. First let us define Cenotaph. The word cenotaph is derived from the Greek kenos taphos, meaning “empty tomb”. A cenotaph is a monument to a person or group of people who are buried elsewhere. These are most commonly found in churches or national war memorials.
The scene Alice's suicide from the movie The Last of the Mohicans is a vital and intricate scene of the movie that amplifies the artfulness and emotion of the story. In the scene, Alice, a British officer's daughter, jumps to her death off a cliff after her love, a Native American man named Uncas, is killed by Magua. Alice, in a treaty offered by the chief of Magua's tribe is promised in marriage to Magua in order to satisfy the death of Magua's children to re-establish his blood line. Alice's suicide scene from the last of the Mohicans offers a glimpse into how film production lighting, setting, costumes and hair and makeup work in cohesive unity to express the director's vision of the films mise-en-scene
