Spend a little time in the kitchen to make healthier, less-processed versions of packaged snacks. E. Drink more water. Not only does drinking plenty of water have great health benefits, water drinking has financial benefits, too. Drink a big glass of water before each meal, and not only will you digest it better, you won’t eat as much, saving on the ol’ food bill. You’ll also find yourself feeling a bit better as you begin to get adequately hydrated (most Americans are perpetually somewhat dehydrated). IV. Ways to save money in socialization and entertainment A. Make your own gifts instead of buying stuff from the store. You can make food mixes, candles, bread, cookies, soap, and all kinds of other things at home quite easily and inexpensively. These make spectacular gifts for others because they involve your homemade touch, plus quite often they’re consumable, meaning they don’t wind up filling someone’s closet with junk. Even better – include a personal handwritten note with the gift. This will make it even more special than anything you could possibly buy down at the mall, plus it saves you money. B. Borrow books rather than purchasing them. Borrowing books and reading magazines at your local library, rather than purchasing reading material, can save you hundreds of dollars a year. C. Invite friends over instead of going out. Almost every activity at home is less expensive than going out. Invite some friends over and have a
People are not being able to save because they are putting their wants in place of their needs. Saving money is one of the hardest things to do. First they need to develop a budget to be in control of where their money is going. One should record their monthly expenses, and any money saved for the month put away for emergencies. Today, people are making more money than ever before and still living paycheck to paycheck. Developing a budget will get one accustomed to living within their means and will open up more money for saving.
* Create a budget- creating a budget will help you not spend more money than you have. Creating a budget will also help you stay out of debt.
Whew, where to start? The personal finance class through Dame Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance textbook and video series really had a lot of useful information, and it is hard to pick out the most impactful chapters and topics. However, I think the most important stuff for me was his five foundations for financial success, which were reinforced throughout the course. I am not downplaying the other important stuff in the course, including learning about the history of credit, budgeting, consumer awareness, investing, insurance, and taxes, but I think that mastering the fundamentals is important, which is why I am choosing to highlight them in this paper.
This course provides an overview of the elements necessary for effective personal financial planning and the opportunity to apply the techniques and strategies essential to this understanding. Primary areas of study include creating and managing a personal budget, understanding and paying taxes, working with financial institutions, wise use of credit cards and consumer loans, financing automobiles and homes, and the use of insurance for protecting one’s family and property.
want to be able to save for a rainy day and splurge when I want too! In order for this to happen, my
But many people still end up spending all their income and leaving themselves with no savings. With regards to this, Mr.Chilton has a very simple solution, “Save first. Spend the rest.”(Chilton 76). I agree with his lesson to save first as saving first and then spending will make sure you won’t end up spending everything. A similar hypothetical situation would be that you have an assignment due tomorrow but you want to play some video games. In this scenario, it would be wise to finish the assignment first because it is the most important and then play video games with your remaining time. Saving is the same; it is the most important to you need to save first. It doesn’t matter how you save, just save. You can use “Payroll deduction, automatic withdrawal, pre-authorized chequing”(Chilton 77), just save first. As well, you have to save right now and “not in a few months when you’re hoping to finally have time to craft a financial plan(Chilton 77)”. When I get a part-time job in the summer, I will start an automatic savings plan with Tangerine in which Tangerine will deduct money to put into my savings every time I get my pay cheque. This way, I’ll definitely save some of my money before I
The goal of this course is to get you thinking about personal finance issues at a point in your life when you still have time to benefit from the power of time in generating wealth to accomplish your other life goals. The financial decisions you make early in life with determine in great extent the quality of life you will enjoy later, especially given the turbulent and uncertain economic conditions. Money isn’t everything, but a lack of it will impact almost every aspect of your life and those who surround you.
A goal of mine is to modify how much processed food I eat because I want to live a healthier lifestyle. In, “Eating Made Simple” by Marion Nestle she discusses ideas on how to become healthier. Nestle notes, “eat less, move more; eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; and avoid too much junk food” (37). Nestle argues that experts disagree on most notions concerning what is healthy and what is not. Nevertheless, they all came to an agreement in the basic idea of healthy eating. This suggests that living a healthier lifestyle could be rather simple if you follow these simple steps. My family and I eat an enormous amount of junk food, and I would like to change that so we can live a healthier lifestyle.
List several of the "Strategies for Saving" that would be the most valuable one’s for you to help you with your financial situation? Why? I think the two Strategies for saving that would be most valuable to me are eliminating Doodads and paying myself first. After thinking about it I realized all the silly little things I spend money on that I don’t really need, by eliminating these things that money would really start add up that I could put into my savings each month. I also think paying myself first would help me to save a lot more. I tend to spend whatever I have in my account, I don’t spend what I don’t have, but even if I have extra I always seem to find something to spend it on. So by putting aside a certain amount of money into my savings account before I do anything else that money is already gone, and then I can budget my month with the remaining

I believe by having a plan in place and knowing exactly how much I need to save each day, week, month, etc. will help me to successful reach my savings goals.
First, I found a partner who I plan to spend all my days with , hoping to never be a single mother. By being so firm with our finances; we can go out to eat occasionally, take our son to different activites, and most importantly, we do not have to worry or stress about
Water is very beneficial to the body. The doctor told me to be drinking plenty of water so that I can eliminate toxins, sugars, impurities and cholesterol from your body. In addition, water will allow you to lessen your desire to eat. Drinking plenty of water has actually made my body to be more hydrated.
While taking the personal finance course this past spring, I learned many valuable lessons that will greatly assist me throughout my life. One lesson I learned is the importance of paying yourself first. To put this into action, I will save money in an emergency fund to have enough money to live comfortably for 3 to 6 months, in case of emergency. Furthermore, this course has taught me the importance of budgeting. Using budgeting, I will make a plan for my money, so I can avoid over drafting and bouncing checks. Another lesson personal finance taught me is to pay all bills and loans on time to develop a good FICO credit score, which is what companies use to evaluate the risk of loaning to an individual. Knowing this information will help me
