Cheers rise from the jubilant crowd as the crowning moment we’ve all been waiting for finally arrives. Thousands fill the Mall, craning their necks as Queen Elizabeth II steps out onto her balcony, offering a smile to her adoring subjects. Clad in her bedazzled hat, she surveys the scene: a vast sea of British flags, frantic in their support of sixty years on the throne, waving in time to a raucous rendition of God Save the Queen.
“Englishmen.. have given the people of India the greatest human blessing - peace.” (Dutt). Merely coming to India in the 1600s to trade, the British East India Company established trading outposts. After ridding of French influence in India during the Seven Years’ War and having Indians mutiny against British rule, Britain gained full control of India. India has been under the imperialist control of the British until their independence in 1947. British imperialism caused some negative effects on India through poverty and persecution, but retained more of a positive impact due to its massive improvements in the modernization of India and the overall improvement of Indian civilization.

Colonists who stayed loyal to the British Empire wished to retain the power and protection of being part of that Empire. They wanted to fix the disagreements between the British government and the colonies before it was too late, even though they knew that the taxes being levied by Parliament against them were excessive.1 Some suggested that the British simply needed to be willing to negotiate a bit with the colonies and give them the greater political and commercial autonomy they so desired. William Smith, Jr., a loyalist lawyer from New York, wanted the colonies to have their own “continental parliament”, and other new colony-specific government offices, which would have necessitated changes to the British Constitution.2 Since both sides were so intractable in their beliefs that they were the ones being wronged, no such radical compromise was ever considered, but that did not stop the desperate loyalists from imagining a scenario where the status quo was maintained as much as possible.
In his article ‘Making Trains Run on Time’ (Time Magazine, 10 April, 2017, pp. 32-34), Josh Sanburn tells us about the problem of congested train traffic in Chicago. Sanburn says that costly delays have been seen elsewhere because of the problems in Chicago, as any trains travelling from coast to coast have to go through the city. Six of the seven biggest railroad companies use these railroads, with one thousand and three hundred trains traveling through the city a day.
Imperialism is the advocacy of power and domain by acquiring territory or gaining political and economic control of an area (“Imperialism”). British Imperialism was motivated by the nation’s success during Industrialization. The Industrial Revolution was a time period between 18th and 19th centuries where predominantly agrarian, rural societies in Europe and America became industrial and urban (“Industrialization”). Industrialization sparked an urge in the British nation to modernize the non industrialized countries. Britain’s economy improved as a result of the industrialization so they started to accumulate feeling of racial superiority against the non industrialized countries. The British justified their racial superiority by using a changed
Imperialism is the takeover of a weaker territory or country by a superior nation. Around the year 1858, India became a victim to British imperialism. It was a valuable colony to britain, they even called it the “jewel in the crown”. Imperialism brought many benefits and drawbacks to India.
Over the course of history, starting from the early 16th century there have been several countries that have strived to imperialize other countries in order to achieve a myriad of goals. Consequently, imperialism has led to monumental effects that were viewed from a variety of perspectives. Great Britain was among the many countries that set up a policy of expansion and imperialized foreign powers including India and Africa. Overall, it is inevitable that Britain’s motives in imperialism was to obtain raw materials and resources which was spurred by the Industrial Revolution, a greater need for markets in order to sell goods, and a final motive being the want to spread Christianity. Although imperialism allowed Britain to gain more power, exclusive trading rights and land, it
The Norfolk and Sothern railway has been honored as the safest railway in the world. This railway has held the safety honor bell longer than any railway company. It has as many as twenty thousand route miles in twenty two states across the United States. Since the early 1800s there have been hundred maybe thousands of small railway companies, over time many of these small companies merged to create what is now known as the Norfolk and Southern railway. “Some of the small railway companies that merged to create this railway are “The Southern Railway and Norfolk and Western railway in 1982” (Norfolk and Southern Corp, 1).
English, trade, and the United States of America, all great things that came out of British imperialism. Although its reach left some wounds that are not completely healed, it also sparked the creation of key parts of the world we live in today. Overpopulation and economic struggles in Britain allowed people to start anew and birth things like democracy in lands far from home. English was established as the common language, which broke communication barriers and opened the door for trade and commerce. Railroads and new technologies were established in Africa, who was stuck in the stone ages. Our world evolved through the struggles of imperialism, and these changes kick started many new ideas and ventures that have made the world what it is
Often, when people think of the functions of trains, they simply view them as modes of transportation. In

The article goes on to talk about one portion of the rail network increasingly recognized as not being myopic: the small railroads (called "regionals" if they are more than a few hundred miles long). Since 1970, shortlines and regionals have demonstrated that they are in the transportation or logistics business; they know they cannot survive with the mentality of simply running trains. Many of them offer value-added services, including learning customers ' supply chain needs to the point of being able to act as logistics consultants providing solutions.
