In 1997, four men were accused of killing 15-year-old John Hartman in Fairbanks, Alaska. The four men were George Frese, Kevin Pease, Eugene Vent, and Marvin Roberts also known as the “Fairbanks Four”. Three of the men are Native Alaskans, and the forth is Native American, which they claim they were wrongfully accused due to racial discrimination and an outdated form of police interrogation. Marvin Roberts is currently out on parole while the other three are sentenced between 38 to 64 years. Since the beginning of the accusations in 1997, the four men denied killing Hartman. Furthermore, in 2012 William Z. Holmes signed an affidavit stating him and four of his classmates beat up Hartman after driving around town looking for trouble. If the
Jamar clark African American, 24 years old was shot by the minneapolis police on november 15 2015. Two officers were involved Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, protestants of black life matters and other institutions that support civil rights are unsatisfied because no charges were pressed against the two officer. In my opinion the death of Jamar Clark is not justified with enough evidence that proves the innocence of the officers.
Johnny Cade did not kill unlawfully and also he can’t apply for a minor committing the crime because he’s 16, one year over the limit. According to Oklahoma law, first-degree murder is a person “unlawfully and with malice aforethought causes the death of another human being.” It is also not manslaughter because it is not a homicide committed without a design to effect death and in the heat of passion, but in a cruel and unusual manner, or by means of a dangerous weapon. Johnny did not have time to think and had to stab Bob to save Ponyboy’s life. Ponyboy was being drowned and to save him, Johnny had to commit the act of homicide. It lists that it was a justifiable homicide because it means that homicide is legal when committed in the lawful
As a resident of New Orleans there are many historic events that shaped us into the wonderful, soulful city that we are today. There is one person in particular, who has played a major role in bringing the state of Louisiana together through football. He even created summer football camps to keep the youth out of trouble, which ultimately kept some of the city’s crime rate down. When discussing legends that deserve a monument, who represents New Orleans, Tom Benson is the number one candidate. Tom Benson’s history with the city of New Orleans really began in 1985 when he acquired the Saint’s and in 2012 when he acquired the Pelicans basketball team also formerly known as the Hornets.

Morgan Jackson is someone I met within the first week of my freshman year (this was a feat in and of itself). I remember meeting her and wanting to be friends with her because she seemed smart-witted, friendly, and considerate; so I started to talk to her about biology and pre-med (because she is a biology major with a pre-med emphasis). She is one of those people who has their life together; she handles the balance between her extracurricular activities and academics impeccably. She has a 3.8 GPA and has a high class standing. For as long as I have known her, Morgan has always been involved in Lottie’s Hall Government. In fact, it was through Hall Government that we became good friends.
In today’s world, many people witness all these mass shootings, through their local news or through their own reliable source, and all these things that could easily make someone become very depressed. Unfortunately when some people become depressed or when things in life start to go severely downhill, alas, they turn to suicide instead of trying to get help from a dependable person. This happened to Hunter S. Thompson who committed suicide on February 20th, 2005. He was killed by what was diagnosed as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Hunter S. Thompson was a penman and a politician, born in Louisville, Kentucky, who would go on to adventure all throughout the world, run for Sheriff in a Pitkin county, in the state of Colorado.

Harry Wills, also known as The Black Panther in boxing, has inspired many colored youths to participate in sports themselves. Currently, he has been unable to fight in the heavyweight title, and he probably never will get the chance to because dangerous black men like him are prohibited from doing so. Nobody can really prove that Wills is the best boxer because he is unable to fight against the white race, but he wins just about every match he gets into with the colored. Full of excuses, George Dempsey, was the white boxing legend who could not fight against Harry Wills even though over 500 newspaper polls estimated that Harry would win. Boxing has become very popular with all Americans, but racial prejudice remains, so it will be difficult
