You know all those times you wake up on Christmas morning and there are presents under the tree, well Santa has finally failed. In the play Hurry Up Santa, there are children who find that Santa has slept in on Christmas and are now devastated. While at the workshop the elves try to keep everything under control, and reassure children all over the world that Santa will indeed show up. The theme of this play would be that Christmas isn’t about presents or money it’s about being with your family and being happy.
Three major conflicts in this play would be Flood Roberts trying to sabotage every child’s chance to keep hope that Santa would come. On the news he talks about how Santa will definitely not come, which discourages many children. Another major conflict would be that the elves try to locate where Santa is, but there machine breaks and now they have no idea where Santa is. The last conflict would be when Santa finally shows up and gives them all presents, but the kids don’t appreciate them because the gifts are cheap things you could find in your house. This main part of the play leads to the overall theme of the play.
My favorite character in the play was Flood Roberts the news reporter who has hated Christmas since he didn’t get the toy he wanted many years ago when he was a child. My least favorite character would have to be Justin, he was the rich kid who didn’t appreciate everything he had. When the Mom and Dad sing to the children that Santa will come, their voice
The children’s book, A Cajun Night Before Christmas, by J. B. King, Jr. was illustrated by James Rice. This book is an entertaining story that will bring anyone back to their childhood imagination. It is one of the country’s most widely acclaimed Christmas books. The author used a delightful twist on “A Visit from St. Nicholas” but with a Cajun (French Canadian descendants in the bayou areas of southern Louisiana) patois. This parody was published over fourty-five years ago by Pelican publishing, which in turn has also published many other reinterpretations from many different states. When Milburn Calhoun heard a reading of this story, “He enlisted Rice to provide the colorful illustrations, including the sight of St. Nick on a skiff drawn by eight magic alligators,” (The Cajun Night Before Christmas) and the story was born. This classic tale of Santa arriving in a skiff, to bring presents to the children, presents the prolific use of imagery, rich characterization of the unique Cajun culture, and generous figurative language.
It is difficult to isolate the play’s conflict to anything other than on a thematic level. Every time a conflict has a potential of presenting itself, the fantasy element
It can be argued that Christmas as a holiday is far removed from the way it was first envisioned. That said, there are certain element that many people share or celebrate making it an arguably complex holiday. As the preeminent children’s author of his generation, Geisel serving heavily on the minds of his young readers helped shape what Christmas means for many people with his narrative How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Though at the surface the work is a simple morality tale that promotes unity over consumerism, it has subtle nuances that make the work interesting on several
The play was very well done and was not dull even though it was catered to a large audience. The musical numbers are very entertaining, and the spectacle, both visual and emotional, is well accomplished. I would recommend this to most children and adults, due to the Christmas themes and general lightheartedness of the play.
This show can be seen on TV every Christmas season. Then Ron Howard takes this short film and draws it out to be a two and a half-hour long movie. The worst aspect of the movie is that it makes a mockery of Seuss's main message: “Christmas doesn't come from a store.” This movie is all about selling, from those furry talking Grinch dolls to endless fast-food tie-ins.
My favorite character in Fools is Snetsky, played by Jacob Priddy and the shepard, because he was the funniest out of everyone who acted. Everyone in the play had a part to be funny with some jokes here and there, but Snetsky takes the cake on how hard he made me laugh. He said his lines with passion, gave real feeling that he has been cursed, and everyone else is not really that good at acting. It was fun watching him preforming. My least favorite has to be Magistrate, played by Noah Jobbins, because he served no purpose. Magistrate only told information about the town when Leon was with him and gave the marriage of Sofia and Leon. I think he should not be in the play at all. It is not because Noah did not do a bad job portraying the character, it is the character role had no meaning to it made it pointless having him. Several people told Leon about the towns history and someone else could have done the
Firstly, A Christmas Story changes the style of the framed narrative. In the story, Ralph Parker is looking back on his childhood after a woman expresses her opinion on “disarming the toy industry.” However, the movie opens inside Ralph’s childhood with an adult Ralph as the narrator. This change does not take away from the story, though. It allows the audience to be put right into the action of the story rather than making the audience wait for something to happen that causes the narrator to look back on their life.
My favorite character was the ballet teacher. The actress made great use of the stage and her props. I loved the way she swayed in her fur lined silk robe and how she used her faux cigarette. It really conveyed the life story of the character and made her stand out. It gives her an aura of strength but also a certain feeling of tragedy — as if she had always wanted to become a star. Her beat changes were very distinct throughout the play. Each line was
The script of A Christmas Carol was written by Charles Dickens. This play takes place in London, England. Ebenezer Scrooge, a rich yet greedy man, is visited by three christmas spirits that give him a chance of overcoming his cold-hearted self. The spirits bring old Scrooge to different times of his life. First came the Spirit of Christmas Past, then Christmas Present, and finally the Spirit of Christmas Yet To Come.
Once the leaves begin to alter their color for the winter, most houses and businesses also change their appearance for the winter. Many families drag out their boxes of red and green to decorate their house for the holidays. Parents may brave a line stretching down the mall so their child can tell Father Christmas, or Santa Claus, what he or she wishes to unwrap on Christmas morning. Some parents question the effect of a child’s health or morals associated with the belief in Santa Claus, but, with research and psychologists weighing in on the subject, there is no tramatic evidence apparent in letting a child have faith in Santa Claus. Evidence gathered may suggest a benefit for children. Children should have the oportunity to believe in Santa Claus because it stems creativity and can improve mental health, shows youth an example of giving without expecting anything in return, and when the time comes, forces kids to distinguish between fantasy and reality.
novel, a silly fairy tale with an in depth story filling you with the holiday spirit, this story,
The characters play A big part in this book. One of the main characters is Scrooge, he is a lonely and grumpy man living by himself. Another main character is the ghost of Christmas past. She was the one that took Scrooge to his childhood memories and when he was a young boy. The next main character is the ghost of Christmas present.
In a novel, conflict is always one of the most important elements, it usually provides challenges and directions for the story. In all types of conflicts, it usually refers to a main question that can show to our thoughts. Through “Inherit The Wind”, conflicts make up the main purpose of the story, which reveals It leads us to think, understand, and reflect questions that the play involves with.
Even though they had a small town there was a big mountain that nobody lived on except for one. The Grinch was his name. No one liked the Grinch because he doesn't like something that they do. Christmas!
The play follows the classic Christmas story line: the ride to church, the service itself, and finally the Christmas celebration with the family. Although it does not stay the same course. The play then alternates from the present to the children’s futures. This look into the future goes along with the theme of the play. The children are a product of their environment and the play fast-forwards to show how this dark Christmas affects the children in adulthood. An example of this time lapse would be,
