Hybrid Cars And Its Effects On The Environment Essay

In this day and age people argue more often about which kind of car is better overall; is it the internal combustion engine, ICE, or hybrid car? Consumers are led to believe through advertisements and online articles that hybrids are a better buy because of their reduced impact on the environment, and ease of use. These reasons are in fact false because hybrid cars are no better for the environment because of their production emissions and other variables.
There is a growing scientific consensus that increasing levels of greenhouse gas emissions are changing the earth 's climate. Also oil prices continue to skyrocket while tougher regulations and policies on permitted exhaust gases are being instituted in major cities of the world. These and some other related issues are compelling vehicle manufacturers to come up with fuel efficient vehicles. These types of vehicles are known as hybrid electric vehicles (Omoigui).
Since their invention, most cars use an internal combustion engine, which is what all engines that use a fuel and pistons. These ICE cars run off of only gas and other forms of fossil fuels. On the other side of the spectrum, there have more recently been completely electric cars that are quiet and have a large amount of batteries. In the middle of these two is the hybrid car; there are six different kinds of hybrid configurations between the ICE and the batteries all with pros and cons. Some reduce emissions of the ICE and others increase the torque on the axle
