Millions of people around the world wake up and go about their everyday lives without worrying about what clothes they should wear, what foods they should eat, what the temperature of the weather is, etc. Why would millions of other people worry about such things every morning when they awoke? The answer is simple: hyperhidrosis. Approximately 3% of the world’s population suffers from a humiliating disorder known as hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is when a person’s body sweats abnormally producing more sweat than the average person. Millions of people who suffer from this debilitating disorder are impacted in numerous ways psychologically, emotionally, and socially; thus, a person with hyperhidrosis is many times left with an extremely low self-image of themselves. The millions of people who do suffer from hyperhidrosis are people who suffer psychologically. I can never forget the day I discovered I suffered from extreme palmar hyperhidrosis. I was in eight grade and I was called on to present in front of the class. This was a cooking class and I was presenting about the culture and unique foods of Spain. I was feeling somewhat nervous because I knew my hands sweated a lot. However, it was only after my presentation did I realize just how severe my palmar hyperhidrosis was. My entire project, which consisted of several papers, was soaked through. When I gave it to my teacher after the presentation her first question was, “Why are the papers so wet?” I was so embarrassed I don’t even remember what I said. I just know that from that day on I knew, knew I had a problem. My hands didn’t sweat, they dripped! Consequently, the impact of excessive sweat made me and millions of people like me somewhat
