I Am Thankful For Research Paper

Every year, there is one day dedicated to giving thanks in America. That day is known as Thanksgiving. In the weeks before, families will make plans to get together with relatives, and decide who will bring what food. On the day of, people will spend the morning cooking. Later, the guests arrive and most likely sit down to wait for food, watching football. These actions are just a few examples of what people are thankful for. As for myself, there are many things I am thankful for, to many to remember or even know. But there are a few main things I am very thankful for.

Take the time in the mornings to remember what it is that we are grateful for: a loving family, a roof over your head, even take time to thank the oven for working. It doesn’t matter, just the practice of being grateful for a few minutes can help jog your memory of the better things in life even if things are tough.

In the week where I was inputting into a journal what I am grateful for, has been a week of pure joy and amazement. I was able to look at my day and really reflect on what effect of what people have on me and what effect I have on them. For example, on Saturday I wrote that someone held my door without me realizing it. I was just really grateful that someone took their time out of their day just to provide that act of service in my life. It makes me look at the little things and appreciate people in a different way. I was able to stop looking at the big picture but look for little details.

As I sit here and stare at the blank page on my laptop screen a thousand different things I am grateful for circle in my head. Growing up I was taught that everything I have and receive is a blessing, so I should not take anything for granted. I still carry this lesson with me everyday and can only hope to teach my daughter the same. If I must narrow my list down to one thing I am grateful for though, hands down it would have to be my daughter, Hally. Everything that has to do with my daughter brings a natural glow and smile to my face. She is the most beautiful, happy, smart, and amazing little girl that I have ever had the blessing of meeting. She may have been unplanned and came too early in my life, however she has taught me so much more

I believe there are many traits in life that make you a good person and lead you to live a happy life, but being grateful is one of the best traits you could obtain. Being grateful is one thing I feel many people in our society forget to do. One day I learned to always appreciate what I have instead of what I don’t.
