While we all love longhorns ourselves, there are shorthorns inside my heart. In Chun-cheon, a small town in South Korea, my father raises Hah-noo, which is a Korean-breed ox with short and thick horns. He has taken care of them for about 15 years for a living and I also sometimes helped him feed and breed them. They have been an important part of our family and so they are now. Thus, Bevos all around the campus always remind me of family with a strong impression for something good, familiarity, and my father’s sacrificing effort for my family. It is true that a professional and career-oriented curriculum and eminent professors in Stan Richards School affected my decision to take a long, but purposeful journey to 40 acres from South Korea. However,
The Battle of Little Bighorn took place in 1876 along the Little Big Horn River in south central Montana. Warriors of the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes battled the seventh Regiment of the U.S. Cavalry led by General George Armstrong Custer. The battle has come to symbolize the clash of two vastly different civilizations including a hunting culture of the northern plains and a highly sophisticated, industrial-based culture of the U.S. This battle was not an isolated soldier-warrior confrontation but rather a highly strategic campaign. Essentially, Lakota leaders such as Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse rejected the newly implemented reservation system which was put into effect by the Fort Laramie Treaty. General Armstrong Custer

The conflict that occurred between the U.S. Government and the Native American Indian tribes, known as the Great Sioux War. It was a lengthy, disjointed struggle between the U.S. Army and the allied tribes of the Teton Sioux and Northern Cheyenne Indians that occurred in the span of fifteen months between, March 1876 and May 18771. Hostilities between the U.S. Government and the Native American Indian tribes grew due to the movement of settlers on the land promised to them. The Northern Plains, which consist of the Dakotas, Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana, is where the majority of the war took place. The most prominent battle of this war was the Battle of Little Big Horn, due to the amount of casualties taken by the U.S. 7TH Cavalry led

Drovers, people who herd large groups of cattle, heading up the Chisholm Trail toward the railroads the final stop for any last-minute supplies was Fort Worth, Texas. Beyond that you’d cross the Red River and into Indian Territory. During the years of 1866 and 1890, drovers herded over four million head of cattle through Fort Worth. The city soon became known as “Cowtown.” As the railroad arrived in 1876, Fort Worth developed into a shipping port for livestock, so the city built up the Union Stockyards. Despite the Union Stockyards lacking the essential funding to buy enough cattle to attract local ranchers, President Mike C. Hurley welcomed wealth Boston capitalist Greenleif Simpson into Fort Worth hoping he would find interest and invest
The Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 was perhaps the greatest victory for the Native Americans against the white European settlers. The Battle of Little Bighorn is also known as Custer's Last Stand and it was a fight between the Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes against the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The Native Americans were led by "Crazy Horse" and "Sitting Bull," while the 7th Cavalry Regiment was led by General George Armstrong Custer. Custer's orders were to locate the Sioux camp in the Big Horn Mountains in Montana and wait for back up to arrive and help.
Texans lived in a one party state for nearly a century. In Texas the only party that was in control was the Democratic Party from the post-Civil war era to the late 1970’s. In Texas politics for approximately over 100 years the Republican Party was basically non-existent. In a one party state Republicans were the second party. Republicans controlled a few seats in the legislature and they failed to win any statewide races. Mid-western abolitionists that opposed the Kansas-Nebraska Bill created today’s Republican Party. The bill they opposed would allow slavery in the new acquired territories of Kansas and Nebraska. In 1845 there was a heated slavery controversy and at that exact time Texas became a state. In the early years, one group in
On our visit to the University Of Redlands, My guide walked backwards facing us the entire time. While walking backwards our guide made a special effort to connect with us, without seeing, venturing in the unknown. I chose the University of Redlands because of its academic rigor, diverse student population, and the beautiful campus. My interests are Business Administration, Political Science, Pre-law, Corporate and Sports Contractual Law. Attending at this remarkable University would allow me to invest in myself and would help change the world perspectives around me. A career in law will enable me to help people who are less fortunate and contribute to an established law firm. While attending the University of Redlands, I intend to respect

Baylor has always had a place in my heart, even before I visited the campus. I would wear Baylor shirts each day to class and even cheer for the Baylor football team. Many people were astonished that I would want to apply to a university that was eighteen hours away. I have always wanted to find a university that honored the Christian faith. Finding a university in North Carolina just like Baylor's similarities is uncommon. North Carolina is known for top universities including Duke University, Wake Forest University, and the University of North Carolina; but none of those seem to have what I wanted. I thought Baylor was not going to have this Christian atmosphere that I was looking for, I was flabbergasted. I heard from many different people, that Baylor is probably one of the best Christian universities that exist today.
The Battle of the Little Bighorn, also known as “Cluster’s Last Stand,” which was fought on June 25, 1976 in Montana, U.S. The outcome was indulged for the Lakota Sioux and Cheyenne tribes, who presumably will defeat the U.S Army under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer and its 7th Calvary. This trounce defeat by the tribes, will consider Indians bloodthirsty by the demise of their enemy. The Indians overwhelmed the 200 men by a cluster of 3,000 men. This insisted the battle was lost by the west, and will always be known as “Cluster’s Last Sand.” A battle that only lasted shortly, and took part of the “Great Sioux War of 1876,” will consider Indians unpredictable in the battle field.

Last summer, I hiked the Appalachian Trail with my wonderful partner Travis—who graduated from WCU with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. This was our first big hike together on the AT; spanning over 400 miles in just about 30 days. It was an incredible experience that grounded me and influenced a new-found discipline that only genuinely wholehearted, physically-taxing effort can provide. I was enlightened to my own personal values, goals, and abilities in such a way that I could analyze them as a network, as opposed to individual aspects of my life. I uncovered my path to continue wholly dedicating myself to my studies and my ambitions; I found what was truly important to me and what I truly wanted. Within this experience, I resolved to have “West Chester University” on my
When young people think about George Armstrong Custer, they think of Bill Hader’s portal of the general in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. General Custer was a commander during the Battle of Little Bighorn. The battle of Little Bighorn has helped shape United States History. The events leading up to the battle, the battle itself, and the events after the battle will be learned about for many years to come.
