I- Search: Video Editing
Premiere Intro The topic that I chose for my I-Search paper is video editing. This is the process of putting clips of video together to form a complete project. Such a field that is extremely important for television broadcasting. The reason I selected this topic is because this is a field that I am planning on going into, and going to college for. What really inspired my love of film and video editing is experiences that I have had earlier in my life. I was young, about seven or eight, I think. Using my dad’s old video camera, me and my sister created our first film. It wasn’t anything fancy, just sets made of draping blankets over the couch, and ‘actors’ that were our stuffed animals with fishing line tied haphazardly

It highlights skills and traits that video editors need to have to be successful. You have to pay attention to detail, have time-management skills, as well as have a sense of what works visually. These are things I knew I needed for any creative job, because looking at the small stuff and making it all fit together is a big part of the job. The article also states that “You must be able to communicate, and be able to work in a team. You must also be prepared to be flexible and work long hours to meet deadlines” (Daily Post 1). The teamwork aspect is something I was planning on doing as a part of my job, so that was not a surprise to me. Flexibility and long hours is also something I have to keep in mind as I go forward in this career …show more content…
At the beginning of this project, I felt that video editing might not be able to support myself, but now, looking at the median salary, I feel as if video editing is a viable career choice. Some of the most important information I learned was the average salary in a certain area, and where in the United States that most of the jobs are located. I am now absolved of most of the doubt concerning going into a film major in college, and I am excited to pursue it.
I can see that people who edit videos really have a passion for it, as I do, and that will make this career worthwhile. By reading interviews by people in the industry like Mark Livolsi, I can gain a knowledge of how people who have worked in the film industry for a while feel about it, and I am pleased to hear many success stories. It seems like there’s a lot of instinct involved, and that brings a lot of creativity and possibilities into this field.
I also learned that online databases like Questia are phenomenal in helping gather information about a topic. It’s very simple to research using that website, clicking through keywords to find the best books, research papers, and magazine articles about the topic of video editing. I hope to bring this knowledge to other research projects I do in the
The paper I decided to do was on “Schindler’s List”. I have seen this movie four times and yet had not really noticed the many ways in which the director, Steven Spielberg, used the camera to emphasis a “million words”. It was interesting, when watching this film from this stand point, how I was able to see the importance of the way the director uses sounds and color to make some much significant points of a film.
Avid has been interesting for me this year. I was depressed and didn't want to live anymore but Avid helped me get out of that, and by tha I mean everyone punched me in my stomach for acting so stupid , but I’m grateful that they did that. It taught me to actually take notes properly for the first time in my life. How to rely on others for help when I needed it most. Most importantly, how to not be so anti-social. I would say it improved the way I interact with others, and thats something I really needed.
With this short but very interesting and informative class I have just scratched the surface of the what it takes to make a full fleged film. It takes much more than I had presumed to make a movie in Hollywood. The number of people that it takes to make a minute of a movie let alone the entire movie was astonishing to me. There are many things that it takes to start making a movie but without an idea of some sort there is no movie to be made.
I never gave much thought into what it takes to shoot, direct, edit, and complete a motion picture. Sure, it may sound fun, but after this assignment, it felt like a lot of work. There are quite a few specialized groups that put together the films that we enjoy in our movie theatres. No wonder why it takes months and even years to edit a film, these folks are making sure things are done and synced correctly! The following essay will identify information pertaining to film and importance for their audience so the person or persons watching can have an understanding of what it is they are viewing. A story that has no meaning or becomes very confusing in the details that are presented does not make a good film.
The second step toward becoming a filmmaker is to create a short film. Creating a short film offers students a chance to apply on the set what they 've learned in the classroom (Study, 2017). Creating as many short films as I can, will give me more experience
When deciding what movie to do for this particular paper I faced a few issues. I knew what the requirements were, but I wanted something different and something I could have fun watching and writing as well. So, after looking around and pondering movies for weeks I finally decided on a perfect choice The 60's directed by Mark Piznarski?
I have also learned how to focus in on what exactly I have questions on, instead of not understanding where to even begin looking for issues and becoming overwhelmed. These practices have yielded success and project completion, and I will continue to do assignments in this fashion in my future Computer Science courses.
My entire life I have been fascinated with film and commercials. As a kid, I would stop what I was doing to watch a commercial. This has not changed through the years. My goal in life is to work in the film industry and work with video. This may have developed from my brother’s short term love for the video arts. Like most little brothers I followed in his footsteps through a lot of things and most of them would not stick. As I grew older I developed my own different ideals and likes. But, video just stuck with me. Even if film production doesn’t work out I have always had a childlike excitement for fighting fires. Being the person to save the day is something that everybody wants to do, but not everyone peruses this dangerous career.
The film industry has continuously changed since its inception due to rapid technology advancements. Camera technology has been a key factor that has influenced the growth of filmmaking. The first motion picture in the world was produced in the early 1880s, and the first public screening occurred ten years later. It didn’t take long for the quality of films to improve as new filmmaking equipment emerged. Ever since the first movie was produced, the film industry has been continuously changing in response to emerging filmmaking technology. Introduction of digital photography and digital data storage along with the development of internet significantly influenced the film industry (Barsam, 2015). These technologies contributed
In this essay I will be discussing five key points throughout Post Production history between the 1900s-1960s. Post Production is seen as a vital component in the cinematic industry as it essentially finalises the final products. Techniques that have been developed over the years are incredibly important, but they all have an origin. Although these techniques started out without overwhelming effect, they are now unbelievably crucial to how films are constructed. The five points I wish to discuss go as follows: The Great Train Robbery and Edwin Porter himself, D.W. Griffith and his overwhelming influence on editing, The Jazz Singer, the Kuleshov Effect and finally, 2001: A Space Odyssey. As well as discussing these key factors, this essay will take into consideration secondary material.
My Topic is what are the affects to humans when we watch Horror Films. And find the deeper of meaning for why we some people love gore and. That even though you are scared out of your bloody mind. You just can’t shake the drive to watch Chucky stab his knife someone eyes. Or Norma bates dress as is mother and murder someone in the shower. Especially watching a bunch of walking dead zombies just murdering some people because it tickles someone fancy.
The introduction of motion picture drastically changed the world as we know it along with introducing new and advanced ways of making and presenting media to the masses. Before the introduction of motion picture the only way people were able to hear about the news or new products was either by newspaper or word of mouth. Before we had T5i’s or any other new and elaborate camera we had to film with black and white picture with no sound, like the old classic super eight film cameras. The process of editing has changed over the decades from where film was just cut and scenes would be placed right after the other with hard cuts with the raw material, literally they cut the film, to now where most editors use non-linear editing with a computer to add transitions, text, and other video effects to produce the most visually appealing and most understandable when producing a video production. The way the video productions are shown to the public have also adapted throughout its brief existence. When commercials and films first made their appearances in the early twentieth century Directors and Producers had no idea how to use color to catch the audience’s attention by using their sub conscious, they didn’t realize that the length of the production would play a role in rather a person will watch it or not. Nowadays there are entire books on how to grab the audience’s attention.
When I was a junior in high school, I was curious of how videos were made, so I joined the digital media production club. In one week we learned the basics of how to create a short film, and it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be to create a video. There was many interesting information about filming, and I had fun producing each project with my club members. We had to create our own stories or personal perspective of a story into a video. When we want to recreate a movie scene, we need approval of the scene, and the instructor would make sure we didn’t get hurt in the process. Filmmaking could be for anyone to create wonderful memories or express a meaningful message, and I would like to assist you with your first short film. Thus, the primary steps to creating a film are getting the equipment, planning out the production, taking action, and editing the video.
Directors are in every stage of the process of making a film. Directors secure clients, set up the shoot, make the shot lists for the camera guys, assist with post production and help with the edit of the film all while they are on the set directing. Coordinating all of these steps is difficult and very hectic. This is why directors should hold a unique set of skills. When I asked my mentor Justin about the skills that they should possibly hold he said, “Exceptional artistic vision”. He also said, “Directors have to be able to see every angle of what is being shot. The most important quality is having the ability to motivate people and inspire others.” I have first-hand experience assisting with commercial production. Over the summer, I worked as a Directors assistant. When we were shooting commercials, we would work long, stressful hours. Sometimes, shoots
A long time I decided to live the zombie life as a video editor and during that time I had to experience a lot of workflow to get good at it. In the beginning of learning it was difficult and there were so many different programs to edit with, but during the time I did not know about which were professional or not. For example, when I first started I used a program called Window Movie Maker, and without doubt it was not very useful since there were only limited tools that the program holds; Since I did not know any better at the time I easily continued to work with the program for a couple months, which was the most difficult start of my experience. For example, there were obstacles such as slow render, 15 effects or less, and very rigid transitions from clips to clips. When it came to actual editing, I was amateurish as well, but that’s normal for anyone that’s new to a hobby that they want to learn by experience; The way I synched the lyrics or beats to my clips were off at first, as well as the quality, which was poor. In fact, I did not even know how to discover a source to download the type of footage I worked with at the time. After 3 or 4 months of editing, I finally made my first friend that does the same hobby as me, and he then helped me locate high quality clips. My friend was from Germany and of course I was from the United States, so we both helped each other grow as editors as time passed, even as it was difficult we had fun
