I volunteer full time for a non-profit animal rescue group called “Dogs 2nd Chance.” This organization established in 2007 has fostered and found new homes for over 500 dogs locally, up the East Coast and in the New England area. Dogs fostered in our homes are rejected family pets found abandoned on the streets, abused and left to fend for its self. We provide medical treatment, rehabilitation, and find loving homes for each rescued animal. While working with the rescue group I have successfully helped manage multiple events through crowdfunding, silent auctions, and community events, so far this year we’ve risen over $10,000 for the cause.
I retired from the U.S. Navy in 2005 after serving 20 years. While working with the U.S Navy, I was provided with the opportunity to work at multiple overseas locations, Puerto Rico, Naples, and Manama Bahrain in support of U.S International Operations. As a Military Police and Prison Guard, my duties included managing daily operations and briefings for three Admirals regarding personnel, ships, submarines, and aircraft 's. Addition missions performed where various duties in regard to tracking aircraft activity during Counterdrug Operations.
My goals are to acquire a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), certification for (CAPM) Certified Associate in Project Management and Business Analyst, and my certification for Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). Upon receiving my Masters and certifications, I plan to
My work is well-suited for benefit shows for social justice issues. Recently, I participated in a benefit show auction for Standing Rock hosted by Studio and Art Gallery called “Cranky Yellow” based In South City Saint Louis and another South City Venue called “Plow” that does fund raising for people in need and social justice issues in the Saint Louis area. Both venues raised money for supplies for the water protectors at Standing Rock-- money raised gave them a great ability to keep fighting. With Plow, the fund-raiser was to help raised money for the venue to continue hosting benefit shows which contribute money towards these and other organizations fighting racism and hate groups in the St. Louis area, people struggling with legal issues in regards to their abusers, and urban
Enrolled for my undergraduate, I didn’t just want to obtain it but I wanted to excel so I graduate with honors “Cum laude” while really close to achieving “Summa cum laude”. Throughout my professional career I have been exposed to project management roles, most recently I was involved in three office renovations with planning, budgeting, which solidified my interest in project management. I am interested in a project management position where I can increase my leadership abilities through regularly encountering and solving problems, managing budgets and meeting objectives.
I am interested in pursuing a degree in business because a variety of job opportunities are represented within the field. My parents also owned their own business, which was the main reason I wanted to pursue a business degree. I was inspired by their work ethics, and how they overcame their struggles and obtained success within their business and recognition in society. Originally, my major was in management. However, I recently became more interested in an ISOM major after attending an “Ask the Professionals” event. This is because an ISOM major combines both business and IT skills to provide a unique skill set that is highly sought after in the current job market. My ideal job upon graduation would be working in a company like Freddie Mac where I can apply my knowledge and work within a team setting.
General business classes working towards business administration degree with a major in accounting, and a minor in management information systems. I am part the United Way committee at my work place. This past year we raised $377,000 in countless fundraisers. I also am helping with an organization that touches home with me, The Circle of Hope. I am creating the T-Shirt for this year’s, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” which is an event that raises money and awareness for domestic violence, rape victims and more.
Since Jesse was a friend of mine, I have been supporting this foundation from the moment it started with a swim-a-thon for Jesse’s Joy Jar program. Working to help children with cancer have some joy in their life during their struggle with the disease is so important. My focus was to create awareness about the foundation, to raise funds through cupcake sales (that was her favorite) and work at the foundation filling Joy Jars. We were successful at accomplishing these goals, but I would have liked to do more. We had over 100 people show up for our first few meetings and that did fall to just about 50 people participating in various events. However, the people who continued to come to the club meetings were amazing, and at our first Courageous Cupcake stand, everyone brought home-made cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and fudge! We all worked so hard and ended up making $200, which we donated to Jessie’s foundation. Over the year we worked so hard together and we were all so happy to know we were making a
Out of the many significant and growing commitments I have, “BASD Mini-Thon” is the most meaningful. Mini-Thon is a completely student-run committee at my school that raises money for the Four Diamonds Fund, a non-profit organization that supports families suffering with pediatric cancer. Our committee emulates the annual “Thon” event at Penn State, which is essentially a dance marathon in the honor of the suffering children. Although we have one dance marathon a year, my committee regularly has worthwhile fundraisers that support the purpose. As fundraising captain, I manage and organize many of the charitable events that take place. So far this year, I initiated events such as 5k runs and restaurant nights that have helped with reaching our total fundraising goal of $45,000. Overall, this event has brought my community together to support an amazing cause.
I have volunteered more than 1700 hours in the last four years and currently am in charge of two projects (care packages for homeless, PowerPack Yuma).
Recently, I partnered with an organization called S.H.A.P.E (Self-esteem, Harmony, Awareness, Pride, & Education) to assist with fund raising for scholarships. I created a T-Shirt for the organization and 100% of the proceeds went towards to scholarship. This opportunity gave me a chance to take the leadership role on creating the necessary steps in organizing and managing with the founding leaders. This scholarship was able to raise $1,500 and three $500 scholarships were presented to students in need of the financial
However, I have become a mini entrepreneur, starting my own eBay business, which has turned me into a strategist. Not only do I find eBay fun, but the website has helped me develop my leadership and communication skills with my clients, as well as my ability to network. As a result, my love of marketing will make me an effective business major. I intend to use my skills in Florida State University’s College of Business. In FSU’s College of Business I would like to immerse myself in business related opportunities, and interact with professional organizations through corporate trips, competitions and industry-specific career fairs. By committing to programs such as the American Marketing Association Student Chapter (AMA), I will be able to develop my leadership skills and use these skills in marketing. I would love to participate in the Logo Contest, and the Involvement Fair that the AMA Group is known for. In the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO), I intend to become a great entrepreneur and have the ability to explore opportunities through business creation. These programs will enrich my artistic and marketing abilities, and guide me to become a skilled
You can plan something as simple as a barbecue or host an event tailored to your cause. Why not plan a 5 kilometer walk or run, and encourage owners to participate with their dogs? Ask participants to find sponsors who would be willing to donate a certain amount based on how fast they run the event. You could give out prizes for the dog-owner pair that finishes first, as well as for other superlatives, such as best dressed, most enthusiastic, or most raised. Publicize your event on your crowdfunding page, and have people RSVP by posting in the comments section.Help volunteer your time when your there so they do not have to hire more people. When someone goes to the animal shelter the could feed the animals, and give the animals a shot if they need it.So people need to go to the animal shelter and help with the
My immediate and long term goals are as follows: obtaining a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. My long term goal is to open a Charter School in my neighborhood, which would service Caribbean-American Children. I strongly believe in community building, and opening this Charter is my way of giving back to my community. This population usually consists of at-risk children and their families. If I could accomplish my plan, it would be the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. I have taken the necessary steps in maintaining a close relationship with business associates in my neighborhood.
Over the last several years, I have volunteered with local nonprofit organizations designed to aid
My name is Abie Pessima. I am a student at Wilkes University studying business management and will also like to minor in business administration. My educational aspiration consists of achieving a bachelor’s degree in any management that will assist me into pursing my career of being manager. On that note, my career vision is to one day be a chief executive officer of a hospital being able to serve as a moral leader and complete missions for the everyday community and people of the hospital. However, I am certain if I do not complete my college degree I will not be able to achieve my career goals.
