Why I Want Pursue A Business Degree Essay

Since moving to the United States, a land of opportunity, I followed the immigrant tradition of working hard to pursue my passion/ambition to study and get my degree. I started attending community college a year after I came to the United states. I spent three years at Northern Virginia Community College and transferred to the university of Virginia to earn a B.A degree. I have always kept a full-time job while attending community college to cover my living expenses and help my parents back home Throughout my journey of achieving a higher degree, I learned how to work hard and how to overcome challenges in my own personal and academic life. Now I am very confident in achieving my goals.

The common professional skills necessary to succeed in the business world include speaking skill, writing skill, and problem solving skills. Speaking skills are important because they are necessary to convey your thoughts and can even be used to persuade other such as managers and other coworkers. Writing skills allow you to correspond effectively with others in a concise and efficient way through emails or memos which are commonly used in a business setting. Problems solving skills are necessary within a business because you may face ethical challenges or conflicts with other coworkers which require problem solving capabilities.

The skills I believe to be essential are to learn through experience and to analyze and understand. To explain, let’s analyze examples from two essays; “Blue-Collar Brilliance” written by Mike Rose (a professor at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies) and “The New Liberal Arts” written by Sanford J. Ungar (Author and president of Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, from 2001 to 2014). Learning from experience is easier said then done.
