Immigration is the international movement of personnel into a destination country as to which they do not possess citizenship. Usually they wish to reside permanently by taking up employment as migrant workers or temporarily as foreign workers. On average, according to Immigration Watch Canada about 250,000 immigrants have migrated to Canada per year since 1991 . Not to mention, this year Canada supposedly to took about 300,000 new immigrants. Immigration is a significant factor in the development of countries. Those who argue against immigration do not realize that these immigrants benefit the country economically, socially and politically. In Canada, studies and social trends suggest that the country can better promote its own immigration through observing instances of increases in population, the workforce and providing multiculturalism.

In reference to immigration, it allows population to increase tremendously. Usually what tends to happen is that, immigrants have larger families than Canadians, so when they arrive in Canada with theses mass amounts of people it increases the amount of residents. “Immigrants today make up 65% of Canada’s net annual population growth”(conferenceboard.ca) Immigrants are crucial to sustaining population in any country. This is the main reason why immigration is such a necessity. Canada is a country with low birth rates, without immigrants our population would decrease.
