Why Are Childhood Vaccinations Important? As a parent, it is our job to protect our children from harm’s way. From the moment they enter this world, they depend on us to keep their little bodies healthy. “An estimated 322 million illnesses, 21 million hospitalizations and 732,000 deaths will be prevented thanks to routine childhood vaccinations, according to new statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention” ( Rice). Immunizations are one of the best means of protection against contagious diseases and childhood vaccinations should be mandatory. Imagine a world where vaccinations didn’t exist. The death toll will rise. Childhood vaccinations should be required because they reduce the spread of diseases, help save the lives we care for, and are safe and effective. Furthermore, it is crucial that children are vaccinated to reduce the spread of diseases. When you take your child to their routine visits to their pediatrician, make sure that their immunization record is up to date. These vaccinations will reduce the spread of diseases. There are many diseases among us that can cause tremendous damage to our health and can sometimes lead to death. “Before vaccines, many children died from diseases that vaccines now prevent, such as whooping cough, measles, and polio” (CDC Vaccines Important).
