When I will be applying to college in a short few months, I will not be the most intelligent applicant by any means. However I am confident that I am willing to work harder than most people that I am up against. Hard work is what has made me successful in high school and is what will allow me to get into the college of my choice. Hard work in the face of opposition has been especially beneficial to my growth as a student and a person. There have been a few bumps in the road along my journey through high school. The ability to prevail through opposition is what has made me a stronger person. As a college student, this skill would be a necessity. While away at school, family members will pass and bad things will happen. This is just the way …show more content…
It was upsetting to part with it at the end of sophomore year but it was a decision that has ultimately been better for me. I have been able to get involved in more activities like student athletic training, key club, and volunteering. As a student athletic trainer, I have learned a lot about all different types of sports and their injuries. I focus on football and wrestling, primarily because they seem to have the highest amount of injuries. During football season, a group of students and I travel with the football team to their games and take care of minor injuries (cuts, bloody noses, etc.) while assisting the athletic trainer with more serious matters. During wrestling season, I travel to all the matches and usually end up dealing with bloody noses and other small injuries. While athletic training is not what I wish to peruse a career in, it is something that has taught me a lot of valuable information. After my cheerleading career ended, I began volunteering at the Hunterdon Medical Center to build my resume for college. At the same time I started working at a restaurant in Kingwood called Ginny's 941. I have been working there for a year and I could not have had a better experience with a first time job. During the 2017-2018 school year, I will be the Vice President for Key Club where I will create, organize, and run fundraisers to benefit several different types of organizations. My ultimate goal as an officer next year
As one may see on my transcript, my grades may not be entirely perfect but I worked very hard this semester to prove, to myself and to others, that the girl from a country in Africa could be a leader among her mates from more developed countries and I put in tremendous effort to get the highest grades. I'm not excellent with figures, but I’m not relenting in my efforts to doing better. I am focused, ambitious and I believe in reaching for the stars because these attributes have been instilled in me as a child. Furthermore, I've been surrounded by people that overcame obstacles like my mother, who became the first female in her current position at the Central Bank of Nigeria which is equivalent to the Federal Reserve. Furthermore, I am appreciative of the opportunities I have, which
College Education is most important because its knowledge that can never be taken away from you and you will always have your college education to fall back on. First of all, the value of a college education can be taken in all different kinds of aspects. When enrolling in school I look at it like this is my pride and glory and no one can take this from me. You can lose all your fame and fortune but if you have a college education it remains the same.
One theory in Jared Diamond s Collapse is that soil degradation and erosion leads to insufficient agriculture and a society s demise. In Timothy Egan s The Worst Hard Time, he sets forth in specific and excruciating detail exactly what Diamond outlines in Collapse. Only Egan s book isn t theoretical. It isn t a survey of what s happened in other countries. It s about the Dust Bowl in the 1930s. It s about what happens, right here in the heart of America, when the land is misused, mistreated, and turns on those who depend on it.
Although, this part of my life is over, there will always be lessons never to be forgotten. Now, I am 27 year old college student at Guilford Technical Community College with a full time job with one of the most successful companies in the state. My job is both challenging and rewarding, but it is not the dream I had before. Health and wellness has always been important to me. I am an avid natural bodybuilder and soon to be licensed personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Health has been a core theme in my life and will never be replaced. In some respect the last 10 years has led me to this career path. The persistence of a friend to get me to join the Gym when I felt all was lost developed a love that has never broken; my drive to make a difference in people’s lives when they asked me for my help in achieving their weight loss goal; and finally, a random suggestion of a client and friend to look into physical therapy as a career when deciding on a path after my
I had three top choices Sports Nutrition, Athletic Training, and Physical Therapy in no particular order. My senior year I was given the opportunity to work as a student non-licensed athletic trainer. My senior capstone gave me the opportunity to shadow and ask question in both Sports Nutrition and Physical Therapy which I did both at the University of Kentucky Hospital. After having and experience with them all I settled in on Physical Therapy. I appreciated the opportunity to be able to do more than just sports related injuries while having the option to still work with sports.as I had
Our client, Sue Davis, was in a car accident in Yankton, South Dakota. Sue sustained massive head injuries, and the paramedics did not think that she would make it to the hospital alive. Once all was said and done Sue incurred $400,000.00 in medical bills, $45,000.00 in lost wages, and $50,000.00 in property damage to her Bentley.
My first year of high school, I had experience with injured football players during my physical education class. We had a certified trainer who would come in and check them out. She was excellent and all of the football players and staff loved her. I was so interested in her work and later thought about making it my career goal. As time passed, I transferred schools. At my new school, there was an opportunity with two other girls to join the football team. One of my friends that I already knew before I changed schools. He introduced me to the girls and the helped me get involved. The job was to assist the athletic trainer and also help the football coach with any laundry, equipment, etc.
For many students the immersion into college is a stressful, although rewarding, experience. These new adults are forced to make what could be one of the most important decisions about their future. Many details weigh into this decision.Cost, time and whether or not it is worth it or not to that individual are all considered. College is almost always worth the cost, time and effort because it teaches useful real world skills, and helps prepare students for the responsibilities that are to come.
Being part of the Sports Medicine program at Citrus Hill High School has given me so many new opportunities. I´ve been part of this program for two years now and I can not see myself doing anything else beyond this point. When I first joined, I never thought I would care so much for it and actually want to take the next step and do this in college. I have learned so within these two years and I want my life to be surround with it.
The transition from high school to college will be very difficult, although, Angela Duckworth's' experiment showed that grit can help overcome that challenge. Failure contributes to grit by making us want to try again. Whenever I fail a test I try harder to make sure that I regain the points I missed on the test. If I can retake a test I do, like earlier this semester in my chemistry class I failed a test and went to TAILS a retook it. On the grit test Angela Duckworth created, I got the score of 3.9. To succeed, character is more important than intellect itself. "As much as talent counts, effort count twice." is a quote by Angela Duckworth that explains that character is more important. A strong character is more beneficial than intellect
“Why we work” by Andrew Curry was very informational and resourceful. So it was not hard for me to agree with him about employees being stressed out and discontent with their jobs. Andrew gives multiple reasons to agree with him. Most of the reasons come from experience from my past and present jobs. Others reasons come from economy problems. I agree with Andrew because I to was stressed out and discontent at my past job Applebee's.
Everyone can be successful in life but it requires some responsibilities. Success doesn’t happen right away, so it takes time and patience’s for things to fall into place. To have a successful life you must work hard to get where you want to be, it can’t just be handed to you for free. One thing is to never give up on your goals or dreams you want to achieve. When you accomplish great things in life it feels great. A successful student needs to use self-discipline and making wise decisions.
Moving from one place to another is a necessity for almost every living organism. Whether it be sliding, walking, jumping, crawling, or flying, movement is bound to happen sometime. Humans like to move from place to place quickly without doing any work. Since running is work, humans generally avoid it if possible. There tends to be some unfavorable expression like a grimace or a sigh accompanying the quote, “I think I have to go running.” Although hated among many people throughout the world, the positive sides of running can be enough to turn the lazy into the hardworking. Running is an excellent choice for physical and mental enhancement because it keeps one active, relieves stress, and is a good self-esteem booster.
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they don’t like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In the poems “Lady In The Pink Mustang” by Louise Erdrich, “The Restaurant Business” by James Tate, and “So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans” by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors use divisions and conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
Learning and knowledge are highly prized in all societies, especially here in Ireland, where there is a strong tradition of respect for education. The choices that individuals make when leaving school, in particular whether to pursue higher education or not, are likely to have a long lasting effect on their lifestyle. The main purposes for a University education involve: social, national and educational purposes and for the individual personal purposes and moral development. These topics will be addressed in the following paragraphs.
