There are various jobs for volunteers at the Ontario Early Years Center. While volunteering, my job was to organize, prepare and conduct the programs in the Ontario Early Years Center such as fun with paint, family time and baby time. I played with kids and ensuring they had a good and enjoyable time. Also, I helped kids learn their alphabet and numbers and assist them with puzzles and games. I created an open and inviting environment by being kind and positive around families. In addition, I helped out with events like fundraising events and holiday parties where we help kids with crafts and hand out foods for everyone to eat. I assist the staff members with anything they need and I manage the front desk. After completing my duty satisfied, inspired, included, involved and fulfilled because I am more involved in the community and hopefully I made a tremendous impact on people's’ lives. I feel fulfilled and satisfied because it's heartwarming to know I made a positive difference in my community and in individuals. My contributions made me feel more included and involved in my community because I am participating more in the community compared to before. I felt inspired because this organization has made a tremendous impact in our community, so this inspires me to do more for the community. Through volunteering it made me feel good about myself and my actions. Therefore, when volunteering at the Ontario Early Years Center you feel good about yourself since you are being an
Community service is an activity you do out of the kindness of your heart for the good of your community. In my opinion community service is a necessary thing for everyone to do because every community always needs work and without people willing to help the communities would be lacking. The community service activity I chose to do for this class is The Medical Mission At Home, hosted by St. Vincent. I decided to choose this community service activity because my mom is a pharmacist at St. Vincent so I have always been super involved with the hospital’s community.
volunteering is a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. In this report i will talk about the different types of volunteering in the:
To understand the importance of volunteering, I volunteered at one cultural event in San Antonio downtown. It was the festival of Diwali, a festival of light celebrate in India every year, organized by the San Antonio municipal and Indian Association. In San Antonio’s downtown we have a Riverwalk and the booth was on one side of river with the bleacher and on the other side was the stadium. Folk dances of India were performed on the stage. I volunteered at a booth of drink. My job was to sell soft drinks like coke for a dollar. I made a working there on the booth and we both had almost same interests due to that I was very surprised. There was also another booth next to us. I helped them to load, carry and organize their booth with food. This
Some students who were in second grade would ask to volunteer because they wanted to do what we were doing. There is nothing that feels better than knowing that you are a role model for young kids and your community. I felt as if I was shaping those kids’ future by showing them that making a difference in your community is a good thing. Another great encounter I had was getting to see middle school students teach adults how to use gardening tools. This program also won a state award. Just getting to be a part of that is an amazing thing. Even though I did my hours over summer, I still continue to volunteer. I also landed a job with PLAY as their intern. I love my job and the experience is
The United States, as some can say, is a country known to be a hand in help. Although, they are a help by choice not mandatorly. In the United States there is a great amount of volunteers for many volunteering programs. The amount of volunteers increase through the years for different causes. There are volunteers for schools, churches, sport clubs, and even more. Not only do Americans volunteer but also make donations. Americans do this sincerely from heart, not because it's a law.
Do you ever think of you could help your community? Are you ever bored in the summertime? Then, you should volunteer.
I would like to continue doing volunteering work for 2 main reasons - career related and social responsibility. After I have graduated from college, I might be studying for higher degree or step in my dream, which is to be a social worker. There is always a shadow in my heart, a dark history of being bullied, the first person that I had in contact with and saved me from despair is a social worker. I hope to counsel others like I was reached, to bring brightness to their lives once again. The second reason is that I use to believe that as I belong to the society, I should always do something for a better future. We have the right to take recourses from this society and I should bear the responsibility at the same time for one should not only
I’ve grown up in a community oriented family that enjoys giving their time to help others. My earliest memories of volunteering are with my grandparents at the library and book sales at age six. I have helped every year for the past 5 years at Cranberry Fest in capacities.
I am active through volunteering in my community. I do most of my volunteering through my chruch. I have volunteered through a group called SELF. They help people in Middletown that need repairs on their homes, but are unable to afford them. I worked for them for about two weeks. Another volunteer activity I participated in is working at my high school's courtyard as we picked weeds and mulched it for a week and a half. On sunday nights I'm a leader of a small group of junior high kids at my church and I talk to them for about an hour after our church service and discuss events that are happening in their life. Another leadership role that I had was I was the captain of our Varsity Booys Soccer team. I tend to do most of my volunteering throughtout
Giving back to your own community is a very positive action, and after college that is what I would like to do. I want to give back in a way that will give minorities a chance to be accepted into something they might think is impossible. Now that I am older I see the opportunity minorities have verses the opportunities other kids have. Since I am going into the communications field I believe if I came back to Corinth twice a year and gave classes on public speaking kids around here would appreciate it. Even though public speaking is taught in school it would be comprehended better from a person you know personally and from the same background. Many kids around here do not get the same chances as others, not because they are not able or
I have been fortunate enough to live my entire life in the city of Brentwood, TN. A lot of stereotypes come to mind when telling people where I live my everyday life. Such as, money, spoiled kids, nice cars, selfishness, and many others. Every so often you find those people who don’t care about what kind of car they drive, or what brand they’re wearing. Although this type of community surrounds me every day, I have always chosen to give back. Giving back to the community is one of my favorite things to do. Not only do I give back to the community, but I also help with big organizations worldwide. I have been working with a service group since I was in the 10th grade. Every year 8,000 is raised to make one boy or girls wish come true. This is
Winston Churchill once stated that, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." This quote suggests how one should view and understand his influence towards their community. The impact is not simply made by receiving, but it is what one is willing to give back to his community. Churchill stated this quote to get the public to serve back into their community. In regards to the quote, I have given back to my community by sharing my time and services to my church, my school, and organizations that I volunteer which has allowed me to develop as an individual.
I am being trained to be an advocate to the community. Also, I am being trained to become an individual who knows how to maintain oral hygiene. Being trained to be a role model for the community brings huge responsibilities. These responsibilities range from ones heath to the health of my own body. It is important to prevent disease transmission among patients because they come to us for help on how to maintain oral hygiene. If I were to work in an environment where infection control guidelines are not being met, I would put my patients and myself in danger from deadly infectious diseases.
Understanding these reasons for volunteering, is important and could give us concrete answers as to why people would participate in long-term volunteering. The issue of sufficient support networks for people in need is very important. It has a very crucial role to play in the well-being of people. We all need support when we are going through difficult times and knowing that there is someone there for you, someone who cares, can make all the difference in the world.
Imagine immigrating to a foreign country where uncertainty and unfamiliarity awaits. That was my family in October 2008 when we arrived in America as refugees, deprived of basic necessities such as food and clothing. We faced difficulties adjusting to the culture and meeting our needs. However, volunteers of all ages from different charities delivered and donated foods, clothing, and presents, and warmly welcomed us with comfort during a time of major adjustment in our lives. They guided my family in our transition as we apply for schools and jobs. Volunteering was also a rare and uncommon practice in my birth country, so the number of volunteers helping us in America made a good impression of the country to my family. As I grew up and attended high school in America, I realized the amazing and endless opportunities for young people to make a difference in other’s lives by feeding the homeless, responding to natural disasters, caring for the elderly, cleaning the community, saving the lives of animals, and much more. Community service should be required to graduate high school because it provides essential skills, builds character, and promotes higher education for a successful life.
