INDRODUCING NEW FORMS FOR GREATER MOTIVATION OF CHILDREN FOR READING
GENESIS
“I will let him at first read any English book which happens to engage his attention because you have done a great deal when you have brought him, to have entertainment from a book. He’ll get better books afterwards.” ----Johnson
By reading we mean reading comprehensively. Suppose a person say’s “I have read the paragraph.” This doesn’t mean that he has simply gone through it or he only knows how to read loudly by producing different sounds. Reading here means effective reading or good reading with comprehension. Difficulties of learners in reading are increasing from 5th class on and learners are more and

* the encouragement of imaginative activities and their basic roles in the development of different forms of thinking. * the development of narrative activities. * the understanding of personal experience and other people * easier entrance in culture * the effectiveness of socialization. In case children do not become active readers in the early years there is only little possibility to become one in secondary school and later on. Home environment is even more important than school, although school is sometimes the only who encourages children for reading. 2. How to motivate children for reading? The school offers different activities which attract many children to reading. * Reading badge( a prize in a form of appreciation) * Reading at home * Reading in class-silent reading from course books * Aloud reading in class-the learners and the teacher * Sending children to the library * Discussions concerning the books or book review * Reading club * Silent reading 3. What is silent reading? In silent reading, the learner of language reads everything quietly. He is not expected to move his lips even. This type of reading is useful at the advanced levels of learning a language. The reason is that at this stage the learner of language has to has to read a number of books. Sometimes the reader is busy in reading a novel. In such cases it will be worthwhile to make use of silent reading. Only then reader

Learning to read is beginning to develop earlier in elementary grades. Students are expected to be emergent readers by the time he or she leaves kindergarten and enters first grade. If a child is not, he or she is labeled as being behind. According to Hughes (2007) emergent readers are using early reading strategies in consistently, read easy patterned text, retell text with simple storyline, and respond to text at a literal level. Hughes (2007) also says literacy develops in young children through play, daily conversation and interactions with text of all kinds. Many children come with emergent literacy skills; can recognize signs and labels, scribble letters, retell stories by pointing at pictures and talking about them, and some have varying degrees of phonemic and phonological awareness. This essay will define and explain implication for each theory in learning to read.
One of the main points he brings up is how reading is a learn behavior and its not like speech which is implanted into our genes. And how reading can be influenced just like other habits. For an example a language that uses an alphabet is different than a language
The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success and achievement is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school. Parents must be literate to help their children succeed.
A doctor once said ‘the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go’. That doctor was, of course, Dr Suess in his book 1978 book, I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!. Reading is the orchestration of many skills. It is much more than simply decoding words. The National Reading Panel Report (A Closer Look, 2004, p. 1) summarised a child’s reading process and teachers’ effective reading instruction into five essential components. These five critical elements are phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Each element is individually important; however, each cannot occur independently of one an other. The most effective way to teach these elements is through a balanced
Children that are exposed to different types of print and books are better readers and writers than those that have not been exposed to print and books. There should be a lot of reading material in the child’s environment, home and school. Exposing your child to bookstores and libraries at an early age will foster the child’s interest in literature. Another way early childhood literacy can be formed is giving your child support and encouragement for your child’s progress in literacy. A caregiver can help increase a child’s literacy by reading storybooks to the child, getting the child involved in activities that help them in reading and writing and applying them. This is done by providing learning opportunities so the child can use what they have learnt and making sure there is the right print materials. Having the caregivers model literacy activities with the children enhances the child’s literacy and helps them to want to be engaged in it. (Strickland, D. S., & Riley-Ayers, S. (2006, April). When a child grows up in a place where an adult shows the child literacy behavior they will want to do the same behavior. This can be writing a letter, reading or just writing a shopping
In the HEB Read 3 Program, I learned that it is very important for children to be read to on a constant basis and that it is crucial for their literacy development. In the class, Child Growth and Development, I also learned that reading is crucial for children’s vocabulary and literacy development. This program helped me see how important it is to read to your children at a young age and introduce them to new words. If you do not read to your child at an early age, then they may struggle with reading and writing when they are older and do worse
We all know reading is boring, time consuming, and compulsory. All though, most kids would agree with that statement, some may disagree. Some can say that if one does not read they can lose knowledge and become less smart. If you don't read there can be consequences for stopping. Reading is valuable because it gives readers the power to escape, to maximize their potential, and to strengthen their mind.
Learning to read is a valuable and important skill that children acquire from a very early age. Children gain an understanding of the different sounds in our spoken language from a wide range of different experiences and social interaction with their environment. For example, singing and saying rhymes, sharing books, making and listening to music, pretend play, listening to adults and joining in conversations etc ect. as mentioned by Vygotsky (1978)
Reading has become an integral part of our lives; within the world we live in today we rely heavily on information and environmental text. It is important that from an early age Children are immersed in books everyday. With parents reading short stories to there children daily it will be inevitable that those children will stand a better chance at becoming stronger fluent readers. However distractions at home can have a detrimental affect on children’s development in reading as parents may not have
Of course, that is not always the case. Some children come from homes where reading is a popular activity. They may or may not enjoy reading, but they struggle with it for various reasons. They could have a learning disability or some form of mental handicap, or there may just be some kind of mental block or issue that stops them from
Reading is a skill often taken for granted but it is essential in order to progress in life. For a child being able to read well helps them learn new things, give ideas and enables use of imagination. National literacy trust (2015) suggests that children’s early language skills can have a major impact on a child’s development of literacy skills. Five-year olds with poor language and literacy have a higher risk of underachieving at age seven and beyond. Reading skills encourage more opportunities in life and it can affect a child’s wellbeing if they do not achieve this effectively (Finnegan,2015).
Reading is something that is taught to everyone in their early childhood, the time I learned to read I was very fond of books. I loved to read novels to myself and to read them out loud to my sister. I like reading action, thriller, historical fiction, and mystery. During my early childhood we would have challenges of reading such as wrapped up and reading, golden dragon. These were reading challenges for students to read 20-25 specific grade novels during the school year and at the end you got a party if you read at least 5-10. I used to love reading and at that time I would read at least 20 books because I wanted to go to the party and win something with the lottery tickets I got. My childhood was fulI of reading, even if I read because I was greedy and I read because of the party, it still improved my reading level. As I grew and grew my reading
Encourages children to read familiar stories independently by relating illustrations to the text. (Vukelich & Christie, 2004, p.8)
Reading is believed to be an easy task, something we all learning and develop through the years as we grow, however, is it really that simple? To reading and understanding are both essential when a student begins to read. It is a complex action that requires a multitude of different actions/components, all working at the same time, to become a successful reader. The components that are pertinent to reading are: comprehension, oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency and vocabulary. Without these components, reading may very well be irrelevant because it does not make sense to read and not understand what is being transmitted/relayed. According to the National Reading Panel (NRP), “a combination of techniques is effective for
