The notion ‘Climate Change’ may seem familiar to people more often these days. In the last century. Nearly every aspect of today’s technology was influenced back then by the Industrial Revolution; therefore, it could be regarded as a significant turning point in history. It also inspired the later emergence of the modern capitalist economy and opened up a new era of manufacturing. Economic historian has no doubt that the Industrial Revolution marks considerably one of the most important event in the history of humanity. (Hobsbawm 27) However, it contributes to other side effects such as global warming and climate change. Still, many of the inventions today are improvement of the Industrial Revolution and other invention paved the way for the technological advancements that we can benefit from in today’s world. (McCloskey & Deidre). Despite the fact that climate change has influenced the environment to a great extend in recent decades, it is not too late to save it from its further negative changes.

Is climate change caused by mankind or is it simply a natural occurrence? If the answer were as easy as “yes, it is 100% caused by humans,” or “no it’s not at all caused by humans,” there would be very little room for argument. The human race all around the world wonders if the climate is changing due to human activity or if it is just a natural occurrence. At certain parts of the Earth's surface, the climate can be observed much differently than other locations. As the years go by the average temperature of the Earth increases by little intervals. There are several different reasons why people believe the climate is changing every year. However, the increase of worldwide population and production of heat to the atmosphere is due to the increase of human activities that take place on a daily basis. Human activity is the main cause of the global climate change. The human impact on climate exceeds any known changes due to natural processes. The impact of this human activity is often misunderstood when looking at climate change.

Some climate change is natural, yes, but the ones we’re experiencing are not. The global average temperature increased by more than 1.3°F over the last century (Science-Climate Change, 2014). Global temperature shouldn’t be that high. The average temperature in the Arctic rose almost twice as much (Science-Climate Change, 2014). A few other changes are precipitation patterns, increases in the ocean’s temperature, and the melting of glaciers, to name a few. Some of the things we do, like driving, manufacturing, electricity generation, and clearing forests contribute to creating the greenhouse gases and warming the planet (Science-Climate Change, 2014). Climate change is defined as the change in global or regional climate patterns, which is apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards. When looking at climate change there is an abundance of evidence that supports that humans are the leading causes of the drastic shift in the weather pattern but there is also a lot of evidence against humans actually causing climate changes. For example, the increasing levels of man made gases that are let into the atmosphere may have created a greenhouse effect, which traps heat and ultimately causes global warming. But there are also many scientists who believe that the earth has always naturally cooled down or warmed up at its own pace.

These gases are a big part of global warming. These gases are produced from transportation, industry, and electricity production. Electricity production is the biggest part of it 33% of the green house emition is from this. The next biggest part is transportation. Which is 28% of green house gases. The 28% cover cars, trucks, planes, and ships. All these things burn gasoline or some source of oil. Which creates fossil fuel. Industry covers 20%, which is also burning fossil fuel, which isn’t good for the planets atmosphere.

Due to global warming , the Arctic is warming much faster than the average global temperature; ice in the Arctic Ocean is melting and the permafrost is thawing. But many climate scientists will tell you that this change in climate is due to humans and their activities. It is said that humans release greenhouse gases and “if emissions continue unchecked, they say the global warming could ultimately exceed 8 degrees Fahrenheit, which would transform the planet and undermine its capacity to support a large human population” (Gillis, 2015). To make it easier to understand, as sunlight reaches the Earth’s surface there are two things that can be done, one; it can either be reflected back into space or two, it can be absorbed by the Earth. Once the Earth absorbs the sunlight, it then releases some energy back into the atmosphere as infrared radiation, also known as heat. Then these greenhouse gases tend to act like a “blanket,” therefore making the Earth warmer than it would be otherwise. This process is what we call the “greenhouse effect.” The reason scientists say that climate change is caused by humans is that it’s simple, humans drive, cook food, and even heat or cool their homes, which release gases such as, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4 ), and water vapor (H2O).

Some people believe that climate change is nit caused by humans, but by natural causes. While others believe that humans are the cause of climate change. People that believe that climate change is due to humans believe that humans have caused climate change by the things we do everyday. Climate change is a very popular topic of discussion among people and what they can do to change it. Humans are mostly responsible for climate change because of burning fossil fuels, the industrial revolution, and deforestation.

Most of the blame for climate change over the years especially after the 1850’s has been placed on humans. As long as modern humans have roamed the earth, they have been upsetting the natural balance of the earth. People have did this by clearing areas of land, killing animals, polluting water, etc. Before the “modern human”, people like the Native Americans cared for the earth. They respected the land and the people that cared for it. Unfortunately, people don’t care anymore. Until recently, people did not care for the earth. People did not realize the harm they were causing it. Now we know how detrimental things are that we continue to do and used to do.

The planet has been experiencing considerable climate change for the last several decades. There have been many explanations toward the main causes of the increased warming of the planet. On one hand are the environmentalists who believe that the major cause of this increased warming of the planet is the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere induced by human activities.
