Inequality in gender politics
I am not satisfied with some odd gender politics that implied in the novel, as a woman myself: there were no women in the Eternity, for the weird reason that removing females from the timeline would have a more serious effect than removing males because of something to do with the social responsibilities and family problems. The entire plot depended on two high-ranking people, a eternal and a timer, who decided to throw all of reality into danger for the chance to stay together. It's like the idea of women as nothing but a machine for giving birth, providing love and care for her spouse and doing housework, so naturally when the only female character in the entire book, Noÿs showed up, she heralded the end of the Eternity. It seemed this part is no need to be criticized seriously because the whole point of the book is that humankind failed to evolve, it focused more on the future. But even today there is a kind of men who still react as Andrew Harlan did to a woman who loved him, blaming her for attracting him because of her beauty or her fashionable dress-up.And the sequent mistakes, even crimes seem to be reasonable and forgivable.
