You will be in the best shape of your life. Secondly every match and every tournament you meet really cool people every time. I met a big fella and he could play guitar, solved a rubiks cube in a minute flat, was a cheer leader, and was a good wrestler. This guy is my freaking role model. Oh, and he wore a cool hat. In the first 20 seconds of the match, I had the first take-down. I was working crossfaces, cheap tilts, and everything else I knew after my takedown. Then, I did what I do best and gave him a swift, hard crossface and cradeled him up. Squeezing with all my strength and might it took about 7 seconds of him being on his back and he was pinned! It took a total of 55 seconds to pin my first opponent at state.

Wrestling has and always will be a big part of my life, that’s not to say I have had a pleasant nor a fair time on the wrestling mat, but I guess life’s not fair. I have always enjoyed wrestling from the first time I stepped foot on a mat in kindergarten in my singlet that was 2 sizes too big, from the last time leaving the mat as a junior in high school limping off the mat in some of the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. It’s been in my family for as long as I can remember. My uncle has not missed being mat side, yelling for his favorite wrestlers at the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament in 20 years. My cousin wrestled for Iowa State University before coming back to his hometown in Mankato and suffering a career ending injury as well.

So when you grow up and you are good at it you can do olympics and hopefully win a medal when you grow up.
Wrestling has been something that has gone through our family for a long time except for me. I have been that one kid who has stopped wrestling from an injury and I will not go back to it for some reason. I get out of Jr. High and head to high school and I want a sport to do during the winter to stay in shape for football. Wrestling or basketball were my choices, I had heard that the basketball coaches split up the teams so wrong and they don’t do very hard work. Wrestling is a hard sport where you got to watch your weight and the coaches will make sure you do your best, So I went with the best choice, Wrestling.
Wrestling has impact my life in so many ways. From the coaches, teammates, family and friends supporting me all the way. I have learned many life values from wrestling. Wrestling is a very challenging sport it is extremely physical as well as mentally challenging. I feel wrestling has prepared me for the rest of my life because all that comes with wrestling can be applied to life.

I can't tell you how many parties that I had to turn down during the season because I didn't want to be tempted to binge eat. The countless Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner I've had to give up. Everyone is a nerd about something. Whether it be the more traditionally “nerdy” comic books and video games, movies, clothes, or, yes, sports. That guy that can rattle off every pitcher’s ERA from his favorite baseball team in the last ten seasons? He’s a nerd, too. Now that it’s 2017 and video games and superhero movies are for everyone, it’s time to stop feeling superior to people based on how they spend their personal time. My first memory of wrestling was in fourth grade when I was wrestling someone who was way bigger than me. He just kicked my butt.

Hockey is a very fun and cool sport, and it involves a couple guys with sticks and a rubber puck, normally on a sheet of ice. Wrestling was a sport I had no interest in, and I only tried out, because my coach recommended that I’d give it a shot. I never would of thought on my seventeenth birthday that I’d be wrestling for the conference championship. Reagan Fedowitz from Union Pines was my opponent, who placed fifth in the state tournament the year before. The tournament was held at Union Pines, so majority of the crowd were fans of Reagan. A announcer calls my name to come check in at the table, and I immediately become nervous. Although I was nervous, I used this as an advantage to become motivated for the match.
With the removal of wrestling from the Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is also taking away many dreams for young wrestlers all over the world. Wrestling is a very mentally and physically challenging sport. “More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill, none have wrestled without pride”(Dan Gable).To become successful at it, one must practice regularly and put in a large amount of work. In the United States alone there are over 260,000 wrestlers who have put in this work and dedication. Yet, this is only a small portion of the wrestlers in the world. With this being a small example of the world, it is hard to not think of the multitudes of young Olympic hopefuls whose dreams are being crushed with the removal of wrestling from the Olympics.
