My audience is anyone who is interested in the immigration reform.
Reforming the immigration process.
For nearly a decade now there have been a large number of illegal immigrants crossing our borders to secure freedom and free benefits. Immigration has been a hot topic lately about what we as a country need to do to secure our borders. The borders are a flawed system that has been broken for many years. Many illegal immigrants have been reported to cross the borders increasing every year. Illegal immigration is caused by many factors some like we read in Border Story. Most common of all smuggling is in cars and vans to bring cheap workers over to farms. This is the most common practice still to this day. It’s also been a new way that they are sending over drugs and weapons to people that already jumped the border and living here. Human trafficking is another problem that we face with smuggling over as well. The president is wanting to make changes so these things don’t happen at the borders and help secure them and promote a need to the immigrants to follow the rules of the ways of coming over to our country.

Texas has also called in the help of the Texas rangers and the Texas National Guard to help secure our borders. This is set in place to put in place new criminal penalties to help combat criminal organizations that traffic in drugs, weapons, money and human trafficking. They are also setting in place tools for employers to ensure a legal workforce by using a federal database to verify that the illegal’s that they hire are indeed eligible to work in the US. This also helps to keep a fraud resistant social security card and requires works to use this fraud and tamper resistant documents to show that they have done such paper work and have followed the rules into coming into the country
The Latino population is growing very fast in the state of Texas. There are resident families that are trying to get their extended family members to come to the states to have a better life. It is not as simple to just cross the boarder and actually make it safely across. “Hundreds of migrants die each year attempting to cross our southern border due to the expanded militarization of the border that began with Operation Gatekeeper”(Hart 2122). Making the boarders extremely difficult to get across will not stop people from trying to cross them. People want badly enough to come to Texas they will find a way but the process of coming to Texas should not be so time consuming and
As an individual who has witnessed family friends of immigrants that came to this country over 20 years ago in hope of a better future. I understand why so many immigrants are willing to cross a border so dangerous and treacherous to reach a country that is called the land of opportunities. What we call The Unites States of America the land of the free. An average of 2,700 illegal immigrants are willing to cross the border each day leaving there families and risking their own life's to cross to the US. Mostly in the news we tend to hear only the superficial fact but never the real facts or the stories of the capture immigrants. If we would just take time to listen to the real stories of what I called the unforgotten children and women. We
Throughout the history of the United States immigration has become apart of our country’s fabric which, began centuries ago. Only to become a hot topic in the US in recent years with its primary focus being illegal immigrants. Illegal immigration is when people enter a country without government permission. As of 2008 the Center for Immigration Studies estimated that there are 11 million illegal immigrants in the US which is down from 2007‘s 12.5 million people. Although the Center for Immigration Studies estimates are very different from other estimates that range from 7 to 20 million. While the Pew Hispanic Center estimated in March of 2009 there are 11.1 million illegal immigrants and that number is from March 2007’s peak of 12
More and more immigrants are coming in to the United States each year, and we as a nation
Micah Issitt and Andrew Walter define immigration as the “movement of persons from one nation or region to another with the purpose of seeking permanent residence.” Unfortunately, illegal immigration has become more prominent in the U.S. arousing debates on what to do with the illegal migrants. The 9/11 attacks on the twin towers were caused by terrorists, who penetrated our weak borders to gain access to their planned attack. Under the Obama era, two and a half million more immigrants have crossed the border illegally than during Bush’s reign in office, which shows how our border is becoming more and more vulnerable. If the borders are not secured soon, more and more migrants will come illegally and take jobs from legal Americans, also
Immigration has become a very relevant topic in the past few years and has sparked various arguments between Americans. No agreement has been reached regarding immigration reform, possibly because many people view it as an immediate amnesty rather than a possibility of legalization for hard-working immigrants. Despite of the negative meaning associated with it, an immigration reform would be beneficial to the U.S. in social aspects, such as having undivided families, and by stimulating economic growth.
The American public seems to be aware of the issue in general, but is short of the details. There has certainly been a healthy amount of media coverage of immigration reform, but as the coverage itself is unclear as to how best to frame the problems, it mostly informs about the existence of the issue rather than informing about the issue itself. As such, there is conflicting public opinion about the issue. This mirrors the views of politicians. This could be the result of the fact that immigration reform is often framed as a singular issue when it is not. Immigration reform is an omnibus issue – a series of issues that are all loosely related to one another. There is little real connection between the H-1B visa issue and the undocumented immigrant issue. If the public and the politicians are slightly confused about immigration reform, the framing of multiple issues as a single one is part of the problem.
I will start my presentation with a depiction of what legal and illegal immigration encompass. After, I will talk about the impacts of immigration on America. I will finalize my presentation with the current government actions that are changing the immigration system.
Illegal Immigration has always been a problem in America and dates back to the twentieth century. It started with the banning of criminals and mentally ill who came from China. The first law was passed in 1870. It restricted residency to Asians and was only allowed to whites and African
There needs to be reform not only the issue of illegal immigration but also on legal immigration and refugee and asylum policies; the three main reforms that I will cover in this paper. Current immigrant policy allows for around 1 million immigrants allowed into this country every year. Although this may seem like a low number compared to the current population of nearly 300 million people who currently live in the unites states the
Our country is supposed to be one about opportunity, neglecting to provide an equal chance for these children to learn would contradict the notion that America is the land of opportunity.
Illegal immigrants have always been a problem for the United States. Entering the country illegally can result in deportation back to their native country. The majority of those that enter the country illegally are here to find a better future. As more and more undocumented immigrants pour into this country, stricter laws are being passed which in terms becomes a controversial issue.
Ladies and gentlemen of the United States Congress, I would like to address an important issue occurring in our society. I stand on the change of the current government policy in handling immigration and deportations. A new pathway for unauthorized immigrants to simply gain legalization in a less threatening way. I can trace my ancestors back to immigrants coming to America from Mexico, and I know that a large percentage of Americans today can trace their ancestors to immigrants from different nations as well. Mexican immigrants and Mexican American families are one of many who are facing problems with such policies. We can be turning away possible citizens who have great potential in our society. Proof of this occurs in the legal immigrants
Illegal migration has been an issue in our country for several years. As said by Raye Hipsman, “Although immigration has occurred throughout American history, large-scale immigration has occurred during just four peak periods: the peopling of the original colonies, westward expansion during the middle of the 19th century, and the rise of cities at the turn of the 20th century. The fourth peak period began in the 1970s and continues today”. It is known that the United States of America is home to the second largest Mexican community in the world second only to Mexico itself (Wikipedia). “The U.S. foreign-born population (legal and illegal) is 40.4 million, or 13 percent of the total U.S. population of 311.6 million, according to 2011 American Community Survey estimates. Roughly 11.7 million, or 29 percent of the immigrant population is from Mexico, the largest immigration source country” (Hipsman). This important conflict in our nation has caused the government to spend money to find a solution as well as individuals’ money supporting illegals that come into our country. While doing my research on the border of Mexico, I found many different objectives. The most common observed was the closing of the border in order to help the United States with the financial debt that Mexico is causing by immigrants coming into America’s territory.
Immigration has been a part of our history for an extremely long time. Illegal immigration dates all the way back to the nineteenth century. The United States is where most illegal immigrants migrate to because of medical, welfare, and educational benefits. Illegal immigration has caused the overall population to increase over the last few years. Because illegal immigration is increasing, the government and the Department of Homeland Security should provide better training for the workers who protect the border.
