Ask any Indian who Karan Johar is, and I assure you at least 9 out of 10 Indians will know who he is. He is a famous Indian film director, screenwriter, costume designer, actor, producer and television star; you could say he has multiple identities within the Bollywood industry. In Bollywood, he is known to have a ditzy personality, be gossipy, overdramatic and witty. In my opinion, the life of people in the Bollywood industry or any film industry is a bit of a gray area; people make a lot of assumptions about their life. We have a preconceived notion of how the Bollywood industry functions, most of our assumptions are based off the media's depiction of their world. Reading Karan Johar's autobiography, The Unsuitable Boy, unveiled a new side to this "glamorous" industry. By flipping a few pages, I got an insight into the unsuitable boy's "actual" identity through pure self-disclosure.

An autobiography is a form of communication between the author and its reader. It is a large platform of communication; through interpersonal communication you are communicating with people whose lives mutually influence one another. (Communication In Real World, n.d )The way I see it, Karan decided to express his true feelings and thoughts to everyone, because his audience and his fans have a significant impact on his life as much as he does on theirs.
