What does interpersonal communication mean and how do we use it in our daily life? Well the definition of interpersonal communication is the process by which people exchange information, feelings, and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages. So what I get from that definition is that interpersonal communication is trading information, feeling, and meaning through talking and/or body language. It is a face to face type of communication. We use interpersonal communication in our daily lives. Often times we use it more than we think or even realize. There are many different ways we use interpersonal communication. For example, I sometimes work with Digpaddle sports at Quail Lake and we sell/rent kayaks, water carpets, and paddle boards, …show more content…
We also use interpersonal communication in our personal life. For example, I just recently got adopted by an amazing family. However before the family could adopt me, we all had to appear in court. We had to trade information, feelings, and meaning through talk and/or body language with a judge face-to-face. That was the best day of my life and with getting adopted that was just one out of many different ways I use interpersonal communication in my personal life. Not only do we use interpersonal communication at work and in our personal life, we also use it in our social/school life. For example, I am a student at Dixie State University. I am attending for classes this semester. With having these classes there are responsibilities I need to fulfil, keeping my overall grade good, participating grades, assignments, attendance, test, and homework. But in order to fulfill these responsibilities I need to trade information, feeling, and meaning face-to-face with the professor and/or my classmates. So going to college is a way that I use interpersonal communication in my school/social life. There are many various ways we use interpersonal communication in our daily
Any relationship has its ups and downs but romantic relationship seem to be the most complicated. Interpersonal interaction is how people relate towards each other in a verbal interaction or non-verbal interaction. Verbal interactions include speech, tone of somebody’s voice, listening and language. Non-verbal interactions include a person’s body language and the way they express it for example their posture, facial expression and their proximity. Interpersonal communication can take place in a health and social care setting, for example: at a care home, there is a new career and she does not speak English properly, so therefore it is hard for her to interact with the residents, which makes this is a language barrier.

The effect this class had on me is that it helped me understand what I am doing wrong when I am talking to people.
Interpersonal Communication is a type of communication that is associated between two or more indivisuals. The movie Crash is a good example of interpersonal communication in todays society. There has been a rumor that the film flourishes with the way that individuals can sort out the events and feelings of the characters through their own encounters with interpersonal communication (Farris, 2007). Interpersonal communication is conversation that happens between two people (Saylor.org). The two people conversate in order to share information or one has the information to give the other. Interpersonal communication is open to interpretation and can be defined in different ways. According to our reading EPME defined interpersonal communication like this, “Interpersonal communication is a face-to-face, multidirectional exchange of verbal messages and nonverbal signals between two or more people, for the purpose of gaining a shared meaning.” One reason why I gravitated to this topic for discussion is that I have personally experienced firsthand and witnessed how lack of effective communication can be detrimental to an otherwise competent working group.
Communication is the process of gathering meaning from the world around us and using verbal and non-verbal messages to share this meaning with others. Growing up in my household I have always been expected excel in every single class. This installed this fear of failure in me whenever my upperclassmen friends told me how hard physics would be, because I did not want to disappoint my mother. “Interpersonal communication is not a single thing but rather a continuum that ranges from quite impersonal...to highly interpersonal…” (Wood, 2013, p. 32). To me interpersonal communication describes the exchange of verbal and nonverbal messages between two different people. Joseph DeVito states that “interpersonal communication is inevitable, irreversible, and unrepeatable” due to these things effective communication is a necessary skill for us to function in our day to day lives (p. 20).
