Is Baseball Necessary

Changes in life can be tough to go through and sometimes they can be easy. Some of these things are harder than others and some can be a better choice. Like moving is one thing that changed my way i looked at people. Then there is growing up, growing up can be hard. Last but not least there is education. These things that you experience can change your perspective on how you look at life.

“It only take one person to change your life.” It could be a spouse, a long lost family member, or maybe even a baby. Change is never a bad thing. You will always have to face change, whether it’s changing schools, having to adjust to a new sibling, or even having to adjust to a new job.

With that being said, in order to grow and realize the significant and the unimportant aspects of live, change is inevitable. Sticks and stones may break my bone but that is far from the truth.  Personally, I believed I played baseball proficiently, but various people repeatedly told me I could not. I found myself; Therefore, I  realized I was not as good as I thought I was.   At first, it hurt me physically and emotionally, but later I realized the hurt I felt affected me much greater.

After years of learning, playing, and watching baseball I’ve come to the conclusion that it is the perfect sport. I have been obsessing over the sport since I was six and it has been my air for nine years. There are many reasons why I love the sport; it is challenging, so you can always become a better ball player. Baseball also is a game of strategy, that makes you debate whether or not to bunt, steal, or hit a sacrifice fly ball. America’s pastime is a very entertaining sport that leaves all spectators on the edge of their seat’s. Baseball is by far my favorite sport and is the perfect sport.

Baseball was introduced to America in the 1800s. As the game of baseball started to become popular, many people became interested in the game. Baseball fanatics fell in love with the sport, but not everyone could play. Racial discrimination found its way to baseball when the game was first discovered and created many controversies that prevented many colored players from playing the game because of their skin color. This could be part of the reason why in today’s culture, you do not see many black Americans playing the game of baseball. The steady decline in black Americans playing baseball could also be contributed to other sports like basketball and football started to become more popular and they just simply lost interest in baseball.

Most of my life has been surrounded by my favorite sport, which is Baseball. It has pretty much shaped me to be the person I am today, and it has affected me in so many ways to where I can achieve my goals outside of Baseball.

Baseball is the reason I turned out to be the person I am today. It has taught me lifelong lessons that I will carry with me off this earth. The hard work and focus and also the integrity I put into it was because of my coaches. They pushed me every step of the way. When I wanted to give up they were there to tell me keep going strive for greatness. At a young age I tried out for T-Ball, made it to little league where I won most valuable player, and ended my baseball career in high school.

Baseball has played a vital role in the American society. “Baseball is a lot like life. It's a day-to-day existence, full of ups and downs. You make the most of your opportunities in baseball as you do in life” (“Ernie Harwell”). This quote by Ernie Harwell is very true for the American spirit today.

Winning the state championship in baseball was one of the greatest moments in my life so far. I remember loading the bus to go down to Montgomery; our parents were giving us baskets filled with candy and snacks for us to eat on the trip down there. Every player was full of excitement and anticipation. We all watched movies and listen to music the entire bus ride. It might have seemed as if some of us were taking this moment for granted, but I think that was because our team knew that there was no doubt soon we would be state champions.

Hall of fame baseball player, Babe Ruth, once said, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Throughout my involvement and participation in baseball, I have always kept this quote in the back of my head just to remind myself to keep grinding and stay committed when things get hard. Baseball has taught me, and even my family, valuable life lessons over the course of the last several years.

Baseball is such an important part of my life, it allows me to have fun with friends while striving to become a better ballplayer every day. I have been playing since I was four, and since then I have learned numerous key things about the game. Baseball does not only require physical strength but also requires an amazing mindset as well. In order to become the best baseball player possible, I must have a great mindset, including qualities such as mental preparation, concentration, and a positive attitude.

The second someone brings up baseball I quickly include myself in the conversation. I could go on and on about baseball, not even a minute goes by that I am not thinking about it. I get so engaged into the topic of baseball that I could lose all track of time talking about it or playing it. Baseball has been my passion for so long that everything about the sport captivates me.
