As you go through life trying to live right, there will be tempters and seducers trying to get you off your Godly path, but your promise from God is that you will not stumble if you continue to walk and live righteously. I know that as a young person it is hard to find a peer who loves the Lord and wants to live Godly, even within your youth group at church, but if you can’t find a peer with like passions as you, then your best action would be to stay in prayer asking God to keep you strong enough not to become enticed with what others are doing and not to walk like them in their path and way of living. God is a realistic, critical thinker and He already knows that you have to go to school with children who don’t love Him or believe in Him. He knows that you must mingle with them to a certain degree while at school, but just be careful not to become like the bad crowd. A good practice would be to ask God to show you someone at your school whom you could minister to about your belief. Hopefully that will bring in a few friends with whom you have something in common. I know that having friends is very important to you. Young people need friends, but they don’t need friends. Think about it… are children your age mature enough to really be a good friend to anyone? There are very few young people who really know how to be a good friend. Children are often prone to turning on each other. So you really have acquaintances, not friends and you should view them as such. That way you
But like any relationship, true friendship with God needs nurturing to make the best of it. If you are a Christian who feels like you are struggling on without the presence of God, then do as Moses did and bring it all to God. Don't worry about whether you are good enough, or if you have let God down too much to ever know his presence. Remember, God's presence doesn't depend on you, it depends only on our mediator: Jesus Christ. If he has taken your sin away, then you have nothing to worry about at all. There is one crucial difference between the Christian and the non-Christian: the Christian knows the presence of God. Let's treasure it with all our
Unlike almost anywhere else, at this church there are clear-thinking teens who are truly mature about their devotion to Christ. Here is the first place I’ve seen more than one or two people in my age group show the sincere love of God in them by loving others as if they were their own family just as Christ did. And, not only is our youth pastor a humble servant who displays the wisdom of a highly experienced leader, but our whole church’s pastor is the former, primary leader of the entire Church of God denomination! This place, is a place wisdom. If you enough good judgment to meet people beyond your limited friend groups, and have the understanding to actually hear what is being told to you by the leaders of the church and the Bible, which is the Word of God itself, then you won’t constantly stumble from misunderstanding and you will grow in wisdom far beyond your
In order for us to ask whether God is good and all-knowing or negligent to the evil andsorrow our lives contain, we must examine ourselves. It is not a question of God’s love or thepresence of evil, but how we live and perceive evil in our lives. The journey to answeringwhether God is good or why bad things happen to the undeserving will be discussed in thefollowing response. Our creator gave us the ability to make our own choices through free will. When Godgave us this wonderful gift, one can assume that he did not give us free choice for the purpose ofcreating evil. However, when God gave Adam and Eve free will, He allowed them to make theirown choice, good or bad. God understood that giving us free will allowed us to make our ownmistakes and successes. Gary Watts speaks of this with an analogy about letting his newlylicensed son drive the family car. “We are called upon to make a choice concerning freedom, andthe choice is a costly one. In exchange for something of value, we must give up our control andlive with uncertainty. We must take a risk” (Watts, 1999, pg. 41). In order to give loved-ones thefreedom to act on their own, you must relinquish control of their decisions. This is what God didfor mankind when he gave Adam and Eve free will. It is the choices that people make thatwelcome bad situations into their life. This is not always the case, but can be proven in asignificant portion of people’s lives. As Newton states in his third law of physics, “With everyaction,
I am part of a youth group called Space for Grace. The name means opening yourself to see the light of Christ through others. Space for Grace is impactful for certain grade levels such as middle and high schoolers. I was lucky enough to move up from sunday school to big group (Youth group) since I reach the age limit. I finally realize , well almost. My first day of Youth Group, was hard for me as I had to adjust to my new youth leader and environment. I felt uncomfortable and different from the group because I am a quiet. I felt like I should not come back to youth group after the first day because I thought it was not for me. The next Sunday was Youth Group, despite my reluctance to go again, my parents mostly my mom forced me to go back.
In the debate “Is Goodness Without God, Good Enough?” we hear Dr. Paul Kurtz and Dr. William L.Craig debate whether or not you need to believe in God to be moral. Dr. Kurt defends the affirmative and Dr. Craig arguing the negative of this topic. Dr. Kurtz starts of his debate by saying that goodness without God is not only good enough but better than a religious morality. Dr. Kurtz then goes on to state that a person can be moral without God and that millions of Americans believe in morality but do not believe in God. Dr. Kurtz then suggests that religion is often an impediment to morality, but can have some positive consequences such as consolation, hope, and good will. He then notes that religion could have some negative consequences such
If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it? This line, from the seductive slow jam “Poetic Justice” on his previous critically-acclaimed LP, encapsulates the common theme found throughout all of Kendrick’s discography, and it delves into one of the most moral questions in human existence: can good come from evil? In his third studio album, hip-hop artist and songwriter Kendrick Lamar, in his distinguishable style of storytelling—jazzy, meditative beats underpinning confessional, dexterous rhymes—ventures into his dark past with financial and psychological struggles and describes his tumultuous journey from being just a troubled kid in the hood to a major voice in the hip-hop industry. To Pimp a Butterfly paints
Does God exist? What is faith? Do I know God? These are some questions that are often asked about our religion, within the past few months I've asked them all. Throughout my first quarter of my freshman year I’ve come up with answers. God is real and to the extent of faith, heaven, and my relationship with God all depends on me. I cannot ask someone “Do I know God,” because what are they going to tell me? No human knows the answers to these questions, but we still believe. So yes I believe I have faith, I have a relationship with God, I believe in Heaven, but I don’t believe it because the vast majority of our world does.
In order to tackle the problem of evil and how it goes to demolishing the belief in God and therefore God himself, I need to pick apart the main issues that clash within this dispute. These main issues or ideas are God and Evil. I first have to look at the actual ideas that are held for both of these to understand both concepts, which will then allow me to show how the problems are formed from these two basic origins.
Throughout my teenage years, I have been inviting people to church with me, so I can introduce them to God. I have found that in my life I have been my best self when I’m with God, and when I live through God’s ways. About a month or two ago, I asked my friend, Dominic, if he wanted to go to church with me because we had talked about him joining me in church. He notices the way I live my life, and he knows that I try to live
One of the oldest dilemmas in philosophy is also one of the greatest threats to Christian theology. The problem of evil simultaneously perplexes the world’s greatest minds and yet remains relatively close to the hearts of the most common people. If God is good, then why is there evil? These facts about evil and suffering seem to conflict with the orthodox theist claim that there exists a perfectly good God. The challenged posed by this apparent conflict has come to be known as the problem of evil. If God were all-knowing, it seems that God would know about all the horrible things that happen in our world. If God were all-powerful, God would be able to do something about all the evil and suffering. Furthermore, if God were morally
One important key point in seeking friendship with God. You must be spiritual minded. God does not like those who are of a carnal mind. We see this is Romans 8. Take time to read this chapter. It takes on a whole new light when read in the context of being a friend of God.
Have you ever wondered if God exists? Do you have faith and know he's there or just don’t believe in him at all? I believe that God doesn't exist for numerous reasons. There are however, people who put all of their faith into what they believe in, whether it's one God or many gods and goddesses.
All of the living things have to be set by all of evils thing in the world: sickness, agony, happiness, suffering the live and death. God creates incredible things and leaves all of them for human to freely use as they want. However, the more they have the more temptation they get. That’s why there are a lot of questionable about a creator, God based on all of these kinds of events happened. Is this belief in a benevolent God not at least paradoxical in the face of such events? If God is benevolent, He would surely not want people and other living things to suffer. If God is omniscient, He surely knows when people and other living things are suffering. If God is omnipotent, surely God could prevent any
The existence of God has been a controversial question for as long as time has existed. As many arguments can be made for and against the existence of God. In this essay, I wish to explore arguments both for and against and eventually come a conclusion that God does indeed exist. The very essence of Man, all his values and his beliefs, are wrapped up in this question, "Does God exist?"
From the beginning to the end of time God has been, is, and will be actively involved with His creation. It is part of God’s nature to have care and compassion for what He has made. Specifically, for the purpose of this paper we will look at God’s guidance in the interactions of His prized creation: man. “The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; from His dwelling place He looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works” (Ps. 33:13-15).
