Isaac Newton is one of history’s greatest scientists. Not only is he one of the most recognizable names in the field of science, but he also made many remarkable discoveries. A few of his most recognizable discoveries are the three laws of motion more commonly known as Newton’s Laws of Motion. Isaac Newton was a large part of the scientific revolution in the 17th century. Many say he was one of the greatest minds during that time period. Isaac Newton made amazing contributions to not only science, but also to the human race itself. Many of his discoveries have benefited us today.

One discovery that Isaac Newton made was the discovery of the color spectrum as known as Newton’s Theory of Color. During Newton’s time people believed that color was a mixture of white and black and that objects generated the color spectrum themselves. After examining this theory of color Newton realized that it was wrong. To demonstrate that this theory was wrong Newton set a prism next to a window. The light from outside the window shot through the prism and projected an array of colors onto the opposite wall . To further prove that the current color theory was false Newton changed the direction of the ray of light using a lens and a second prism. This turned the multi- colored rays of light back into a ray of white light. Newton theorized that color is the result of objects interacting with already-colored objects.
Another discovery that Isaac Newton made was the creation of the Reflector Telescopes. During Newton’s time Astronomers had struggled with a halo of color surrounding bright objects when they looked at them through their telescopes. To help Astronomers with this problem Newton came up with a solution. At the time telescopes had a lens at the end of the telescope that would bend the colors of an object, causing the halo of light to appear. Newton’s solution was to simply take out the lens and replacing it with a small round metal

Isaac Newton was born on Christmas day 1642. In 1665-1666, Newton performed a large number of experiments on the composition of light. Guided initially by the writings of Kepler and Descartes, Newton's main discovery was that visible light is heterogeneous that is, white light is composed of colors that can be considered primary. Through a brilliant series of experiments, Newton demonstrated that prisms separate rather than modify white light. Contrary to the theories of Aristotle and other ancients, Newton held that white light is secondary and heterogeneous, while the separate colors are primary and homogeneous. Of perhaps equal importance, Newton also demonstrated that the colors of the spectrum, once thought to be qualities, correspond to an observed and quantifiable 'degree of refrangibility. In April 1667, Newton returned to Cambridge and, against stiff odds, was elected a minor fellow at Trinity. Success followed good fortune.
