School Boards are trying to rule out imagination.
Fiction books have a way of expanding people’s imagination. If teachers could find a fiction book that relates to what they are teaching, that can be better than a textbook. The situations and topics in fiction books are so exaggerated it gets the point across in a creative way. Those exaggerations open a kids mind.
In the novel, Where Things Come Back, John Corey Whaley involved two developing teens into one story. They both were thrown into heartbreaking situations, Cullen Witter with his brother going missing and Benton Sage with his family completely ignoring him. They both struggled with sadness and feeling helpless.

Isolation is choosing to separate yourself from people and loneliness is not having anyone.
“Not only had my brother disappeared, but-and bear with me here-a part of my very being had gone with him. Stories about us could, from then on, be told from only one perspective. Memories could be told but not shared.” (175)
The author’s purpose is to share Cullen Witter’s feelings with the reader to better understand he is falling apart without his brother.
Loneliness can cause a mental break. When someone loses a person that is apart of them, they start to shut down and that turns into depression.
“Cullen, no matter what y’all do, I’ll always be all alone. A dead husband, a dead son. Then there’s me.” (150)
Cullen’s Aunt Julia was so devastated she didn’t have her family that no one can offer her anything that will take that

His family didn’t want anything to do with him, leaving him alone at a time he needed family. Benton started to lose faith in God and just wanted to gave up. “Benton felt air rush against his face, his arms outstretched on both sides.” “His lungs breathed in one final cold breath as his body became one with the earth.” (82)
This issue is relevant to the world because so many teens struggle with depression, bullying, or abuse and kill themselves over it. The website American Foundation for Suicide Prevention states that “Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Each year there are 44,965 Americans that die.”
The book pointed out signs that the people around the troubled character should have noticed and could have prevented that from happening.
“Most people who are suicidal don’t want to die, they just don’t want to be alive.” stated Roxxanne McDonald on the Huffington Post.
If someone doesn’t want to die and they are suicidal there is still hope to save and help them out of that mental state.
This will can help others be more understanding and aware of
| Most persons with previous suicide attempts survived because they did not truly intend to die; they are at lower risk than those making their first attempt.
“I looked anxiously. I didn’t see anybody… I’d keep my head up and my eyes open-`You got a smoke to spare?’” (Walters 3) In Shattered, Eric Walters hauls the reader through the life of Ian, the protagonist who experiences the joy of helping others. Throughout the white pine award novel, Ian is continually helping people around him realize that their life isn’t perfect and they ought to alter it somewhat. Furthermore, the author carefully compares the significance of family and how importance they are to everyone’s life. Right through the book, Eric Walters demonstrates the theme of compassion through the use of Ian helping Jack overcome his drinking problems, showing Berta the value of patriot and always there for the less fortunate.
Parenthood was a factor in the boy’s life, this ideas gives you an insight on what he wanted the reader to convey. here are two different emotions running through this story from both the boys. In the author Wes Moore the emotion you feel while reading it is hurt and compassion.
In the book, The Other Wes Moore, readers are introduced to two naive boys who share the same name and live an almost identical life at the beginning of their childhood. Author Wes Moore tells readers a chilling story about how he and “Other Wes” were raised in neighboring Baltimore neighborhoods and grew up living an almost identical life. The story is based on how the two men face many obstacles throughout their life that essentially depict their own futures. As the boys become more familiar with the idea of violence and drug related activity, the proposal of living the same life suddenly becomes extinct. The two Wes Moore’s eventually end up living two completely different ways of life and it can be argued how they ended up the way they did. The idea of environment, education, and even expectations are all themes readers are presented with in the story. Although all of these factors play a vital role in the development of Wes themselves, their environment is essentially what had the greatest impact on their futures and is what set the tone for the rest of their lives.
In this chapter, events occurred that negatively impacted the author and the other Wes Moore. In the first chapter, the author watched his father die, a memory that he remembered in vivid detail through adulthood. The other Wes Moore met his father for the first time. He was an unreliable alcoholic who didn't want to play a role in his son's life. The quote "While I knew something had happened, I still wasn't sure what it all meant" (Moore 15) relates to both boys. The author watched his life change with the death of his father but didn't even know what people meant when they told him his father had "passed on." The other Wes Moore witnessed his mother cry because she knew she'd never be able to finish school, a life-long dream of her's, but didn't fully understand the situation at his young age. The excerpt displays how naive they
“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make as ultimately our own responsibility” (Eleanor Roosevelt). Two boys with almost identical childhoods have made decisions in their lives that have changed them forever. Both named Wes Moore, the men lead polar opposite lives now because of the choices made as teens. While the mothers of the two, Joy and Mary, struggled to support their family and make the right decisions, the Wes Moores had extremely contrasting educations, and their family life and support was somewhat similar, but had many stark differences.
The relationship between the two fathers and the two sons is a very important theme in this book. Because of their different backgrounds, Reb Saunders and David Malters approached raising a child from two totally different perspectives.
Balance and stability are necessary for humans as individuals and without these, individuals will face chaotic circumstances. In the novel, the father of the protagonist, Ed Boone, is an example of a character that
Lucas tries to keep Cullen on track, as he remarks, “Cullen, people can’t give up on other people yet. We all get a second chance, you know? We’ve got to start over like Noah and the flood. No matter how evil man gets, he always gets a second chance one way or another” (182). We all shouldn’t be so sudden to give up or lose hope on others. Everyone gets that second chance to redeem themselves, and even if they are bad, we can still give them a chance to convert to good. Cullen didn’t think that way, as he describes his thoughts about the events going on, “After the fourth week of my brother’s disappearance, there was still no sign of him to be found...Yet my town was overrun with more people than it could manage. Every place was full for the first time in a decade, but the Lazarus Woodpecker was yet to be seen” (76). Even when you are going through tough times, there’s almost always a bright spot that comes up. Just keep the hope alive. In this case, Gabriel is still missing, yet the town finds hope in the sighting of the newly found, but once extinct Lazarus Woodpecker. They didn’t let go of
Stimulation takes a big part of an individual’s life, causing the mental health to think of inadequate attempts of suicide. Statics from Lifeline’s 2012 Stress Poll says average humans stress on thoughts about the future (51%) and has continued to be the biggest contributors in suicides. Many people believe that suicide victims are infested with lies and don’t take caution to suicidal individuals. The National Institute of Mental Health have aware the citizens of United States in 2010 by warning “Most suicide attempts are expressions of extreme distress, not harmless bids for attention. A person who appears suicidal should not be left alone and needs immediate mental-health treatment. Studies showed that a type of psychotherapy called cognitive therapy reduced the rate of repeated suicide attempts by 50 percent during a year of follow-up6.” In our nation, many suicidal citizens are constantly trying to be accepted into modern society, this loses moderation and the inspiration to live every day. This is some of the many notes of individuals taking their own lives by over thinking the future and present stimulation:
The author uses the idea of childhood innocence to his advantage through the novel. He is able to show the obvious bad parts of unwinding through various main characters feelings. Connor has feeling of betrayal that serve a way the reader can relate to the character, imposed when he explains his feelings of rejection “from the hearts of those who are supposed to love him” after finding out that he would be unwound. Lev also conveys with the readers his “fury at a universe pretending to be fair and just”. Along with clear faults in the process of unwinding, the author uses the viewpoints of his young characters to explore significant issue in our society. When Connor is being taken to the graveyard, he is forced to consider topics such as unwinding and abortion with three other boys in his crate. WHile they discuss issues regarding unwinding, Shusterman puts an emphasis on the topics that are relevant today. Emby represents the present day pro-life argument, while Connor takes the side of pro-choice, saying that a soul “comes when a baby’s born into the world”. Hayden admits to having started “our own little Heartland War”, connecting the boys’ discussion with the current debate of abortion. The author is not trying to push his beliefs
Suicide is never a good thing. But sometimes, there are some people, the terminally ill, the disabled, and the elderly, that look to it for a dignified release. They believe that, being in their condition, they have every right to take their own life.
“Write something, even if it’s just a suicide note,” said Gore Vidal. Suicide may never be the right solution, but it is always an individual right. An individual controls what their body endures, but most people that attempt or commit suicide have mental illnesses that cause them to think a little bit differently than someone else. Some medicines are out there to attempt to balance neurological chemicals to allow suicidal thoughts to go away.
Gerard looked around, slightly shocked. Had that much time already passed? The priest was gone and a weeping figure cloaked in black was leaving the podium from where they had spoken. It seemed that more people in the congregation had started crying. Gerard grimaced. Where had all of these people been when Frank was alive, when he needed their caring the most? In Gerard's mind Frank deserved as much love as people could provide, more than he could ever supply. Yet these people were never there in Frank's life. It seemed that people only remembered you when you were dead. Putting off your calls, your texts for advice and help, saying that you would answer
Even though there are some people who think that suicide is an option, it really isn’t. In the article Why Suicide is Not the Answer to Your Problems, the author, Stan Popovich, says that whatever that person is dealing with it will eventually get better. The article also says that anyone who is feeling suicidal can turn to their parents, close friends, doctors, priests, etc. Suicide is not an option because people may not know it but there are people in the world that need them. People would never know what they could be if they end their life so soon. Some of those people who have committed could have been doctors, surgeons, scientists, teachers, actors, and etc. if they didn’t end their life. People could have accomplished much in life if
