The Town of Itamar.
Nestled in the Samarian hills of Israel’s biblical heartland, the town of Itamar is yet another testament to the deep connection between the Jewish People and their historic-sacred land.
In 1984 Jews returned to this area and established a small outpost, which they called Tel Chaim, which means the Mountain of Life. Chaim Landau, after whom the new town was named, was a fighter and a hero in the Israeli War of Independence and later served as a Minister in the Israeli Government between 1961 and 1981.
As the community began to grow, Tel Chaim was renamed Itamar, but why?
Itamar was the youngest son of Aaron the High Priest, who ministered the Jewish People in the Tabernacle in the Sinai wilderness. Mentioned twelve

Due to the tense security situation, Jews are only permitted to visit the Tomb one night a year under heavy IDF escort to mark the anniversary of the Itamar’s passing.
Since its founding, Itamar has grown to over 200 families or 1,000 individuals covering almost 1500 acres of land and hosts a vibrant community life. Many residents produce natural goods such as cheese, olive oil, organic eggs and a host of others organic crops. Tragically, the community has also been struck by an ongoing wave of terror since it’s very founding, the most horrific attack occurred on Friday night March 11, 2011.
Late Friday night, on the eve of the Jewish Sabbath, two Arab terrorists from a nearby village entered into the house of the Fogel family and slaughtered the father, mother and three of their six beautiful children. The heinous slaughter shocked the nation and re-affirmed the need for Israel to stand strong and continue to build, live and produce in its biblical heartland. As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated after the Itamar Massacre, “They shoot and we
When asking someone there first thought about Israel, each person will have their own version of what they believe that it is. One might say that it is the land of the Jews, while others say that it is Jesus Christ’s birthplace. The excerpts from My Promised Land by Ari Shavit capture the true essence of what Israel really is.
The state of Israel and its people are being attacked, and they need to be able to fight back. “Throughout history, the slanders against the Jewish people always preceded
Freyja was also believed to be the most worshipped and loved god/ goddess of all in Norse mythology. Freyja was ridden around in a chariot pulled by cats. Playing an immense role in Israelis' and Palestinians' quest for authority and legitimacy he sacred Temple Mount could not but become entangled in politics. The importance ofthe place for Muslims and Jews can hardly be overestimated "both locally and globally" (Camhi, 2012, p. 45) The Temple Mount has always been "at the heart of political and spiritual battles waged in Jerusalem" (Camhi 2012, p. 45). As Hassner (2003) notes, for both Palestinians and ews, appropriating and exchanging ofTemple Mount place-myths is a means of manipulation hat helps them to shape and assert their national communal and religious identity. The exclusivity ofthe temple mount isbeing established through political maneuvering in regards ts access "emphasizes otherness, for the act ofexclusion itself labels those being excluded as other (Hassner, 2003, p. 5). The so-called status quo operates these days on the Temple Mou according to the established order, non-Muslims are allowed to appear on the Temple Mount o art time, and are prohibited from praying there (Camhi. 2012. p. 580. On the other hand, radical Palestinian elements use this onflict for the further
An Israeli couple was traveling with their four children, the youngest 4 months old, the oldest 9 years old, when they were killed in a drive-by shooting in the disputed territory of West Bank. The four children are unharmed, according to the Israeli military. The shooting occurred after the Palestinian flag was raised for the first time in the New York-based United Nations headquarters. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is still poised to make peace with the Palestinians, but Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas remains uninterested in peace talks, despite attending the flag-raising ceremony.
When Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Six-Day War, no Israeli citizens lived in the territory. The following year, a small group of religious Jews rented rooms at the Park Hotel in Hebron for Passover, saying they wanted to be near the Tomb of the Patriarchs, one of the holiest sites in Judaism (as well as Islam and Christianity). The Israeli government reluctantly allowed them to stay "temporarily." From that beginning, hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews now reside in the West Bank, citing religion, history and Israel's security among their reasons for being there. But the Palestinians, along with the rest of the world, see their presence as one of the key obstacles to a peace agreement and the creation of a Palestinian state.
As historians learn more and more about the ancient world, biblical scholars are required to look at their text and fit it into a historical framework. No longer is it a respectable practice to take what is written in the ancient script and assume that daily life functions exactly as it is spoken of in the text. Scholars are now questioning a variety of different aspects in this Jewish work. Thankfully, as the field of archaeology becomes more and more a source of information, biblical scholars can use it to place biblical history into its correct framework. Although this paper has the potential to interact with a variety of tels to demonstrate the necessity of archaeology in understanding daily life, will not. Instead, it shall focus on Tel Halif as an important excavation site, because of the window it provides to the ancient world, particularly Biblical history. This will be demonstrated by detailing the tel’s geography, periods of occupation, excavations including significant finds, and connection to the Hebrew Bible.
Including on August 19, 2003 the Hamas had a suicide bombing that killed nearly 30 Israeli Jews that were on a crowded bus in Jerusalem. On September 6 an Israeli Air Force dropped a five-hundred pound bomb onto a Gaza city building in which Yassin was staying. He only suffered a light wound on his right hand. After this Israeli attack Yassin swore that Hamas would teach Israeli “an unforgettable lesson”. Yassin had said “Days will prove that the assassination policy will not finish the Hamas. Hamas leaders wish to be martyrs and are not scared of death. Jihad will continue and the resistance will continue until we have victory, or we will be

Ultimately, Israel launched Operation Defensive Shield and took over the West Bank as of April 2002. This operation, according to ‘YNET news’, is “A large-scale military campaign conducted by the Israeli Defence Forces, after a series of terrorist attacks launched against Israel. The operation, which was held in the midst of the al-Aqsa Intifada, was meant to give the IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) renewed control over the West Bank, thereby enabling it to thwart terror attack on Israel. The months following the eruption of the al-Aqsa Intifada saw the Palestinian terror organizations carry out numerous suicide attacks in Israel. The government's reaction to the murderous onslaught escalated over time and ranged from financial sanctions, through prohibiting Palestinians from entering Israel and bombing Palestinian government buildings, to the targeted assassinations of terrorist – none of which seemed to dent the terror groups' relentless attacks.” As of March 2004, one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in Israeli history occurred when ‘Two terrorists disguised as Israeli soldiers intruded the Ashdod Port and detonated massive explosives. Both blasts took place mere yards of the port's ammonia tanks, which were spared by pure luck. Ten people were killed and 16 were injured. Had the ammonia tanks been compromised, Israel would have been facing a catastrophe of national proportions.‘ (YNET news, 2009) Post-attack in the Ashdod Port, Israeli Authorities endorsed directed assassinations of the terrorist group; Hamas leaders: Ahmed Yassin, and Abdul Aziz Rantisi. Palestine is a historic land in which both Judaism and Christianity were originated. It is considered “The Holy Land” because it is a sacred place to the Muslims and many stories in the Christian Bible take place in Palestine. Palestine’s geographical location between Egypt and southwest Asia has caused it to be the center of many wars for thousands of years. Arab and Jewish inhabitants of Palestine fought for control of the territory and in 1949 Palestine was split apart into Israel, Jordan, and Egypt making many of the former residents refugees.
