Holocaust Research Paper: Rough Draft The Entirety of the Jewish people was affected by the Holocaust during World War II. The study of the Holocaust directly ties in with the study of the state of Israel because Israel has the right to be able to defend themselves against anything similar to the Holocaust from ever happening again, Jews are committing crimes against other nations in order to protect themselves, and the Jews were forced to move from most European countries to the state of Israel. The state of Israel and its people are being attacked, and they need to be able to fight back. “Throughout history, the slanders against the Jewish people always preceded

Other countries around Israel are threatening the Jewish state, and because of the Jewish people 's history, they need to be able to stop anything terrible from happening again. “In recent decades the hatred of the Jews has reemerged with increasing force, but with an insidious twist. It is not merely directed at the Jewish people but increasingly at the Jewish state…if only Israel did not exist, many of the world’s problems would go away.” (Source A). Jews throughout history have received hatred from many different countries for different reasons. Therefore the people need support from other countries to be able to protect themselves. “A radical Iranian regime armed with nuclear weapons could bring an end to the era of nuclear peace the world has enjoyed for the last 65 years…Iran’s brazen bid to develop nuclear weapons is first and foremost a threat to Israel…” (Source A). Israel may be an entire country, but the history of the Jewish people states that they are weak, meaning it is an easy target for a country to destroy. Israel may have been at peace with Iran before, but now that Iran has the tools for war, they are willing to just throw the relationship away, because Iran knows it can happen again. Because of all of the threats against the Jewish people, tensions and the amount of fear are growing. The state of Israel is becoming so paranoid that the Jewish people are
The Israel-Palestine Conflict The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a part of the greater Arab-Israeli long-running conflict in the Middle East. The main point of this conflict is the existence of the state of Israel and its relations with Arab states and with the Palestinian population in the area. The idea and concept of Israel was born in the mid 19th century. Jews of Europe and America wanted a place for their homeland, where they could go and be with others of the same race and religion. Palestine was chosen because of its religious routs from The Bible as the “promised land” from God, and the motherland of Jews fled, known as the Diaspora.
And Why Does it Persist?” uses many facts backed up with logical evidence, making his views on anti-Semitism seem even stronger. The author’s view on anti-Semitism is, “Anti-Semitism is not a mysterious “disease” anti-Semitism is the natural and understandable attitude of people toward a minority.” Following this statement the author gives many examples of Jewish-Zionists who share similar viewpoints on anti-Semitism. An instance being in paragraph six, when the author uses a quote from Chaim Weizmann: “Whenever the quantity of Jews in any country reaches the saturation point, that country reacts against them, this reaction is a universal social and economic reaction to Jewish immigration, and we cannot shake it off.” The author also uses Herzl, the founder of the modern Zionist movement’s, writings to back up his thoughts on anti-Semitism, “Herzl explained that anti-Semitism is not an aberration or a “disease,” but rather a natural response by non-Jews to alien Jewish behavior and attitudes.” Although the author continues to support his statements with evidence many of his opinions are very similar and repetitive. The author fails to provide new information to prove his views on
The Jewish State tries to convince other nations that Israel is only working towards good things. “...Israel and America...stand together because we are fired by the same ideals and inspired by the same dream, the dream of achieving security, prosperity, and peace...” (Source A). This excerpt from a speech given by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, shows him almost advertising the progress Israel is making to solve international issues. With this, he is also trying to show his reasoning for Israel’s lack in human rights. “...My Friends, We are gathered here today because we believe in those ideals. And because of those ideals, I am certain that Israel and America will always stand together.” (Source A). The U.S. is allies with Israel, which means the they are not allies with Arab states, such as Iran. In Netanyahu’s speech, he uses the U.S. support to challenge Iran and other Arab states about their lack of respect and recognition of Israel as an international figure. One of the tactics the Jewish state uses to convince international authorities of their “right to exist”. “...The future of the Jewish state can never depend on the goodwill of even the greatest of men. Israel must always reserve the right to defend itself…” (Source A). One of the parts, to Israel, of international recognition, it the promise to always reserve the right to protect
Europe’s Growing Anti-Semitism is written by Mike Ross, and was published on October 20, 2014. In this article, Ross explains the disturbing anti-Semitic acts that are taking place in Europe and the effects it is having on Jewish communities. For example, in France three Jewish children and a rabbi were murdered in a Jewish school, four people were shot in a Jewish museum in Brussels, and violent riots have emerged outside numerous synagogues in Europe. Due to these
The development of Israel received more threats of obliteration, but Israel could defend themselves. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu states that "The head of Hezbollah says: "If all the Jews gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide” (Source A). This example falls into the Holocaust. The Holocaust gathered Jews for their obliteration but now even after the Holocaust, there are still threats of letting the Jews have Israel so they can wipe out the Jews easier instead of gathering the Jews from different countries. This is a prime example showing that the study of the Holocaust ties into the state of Israel because the state of Israel was threatened of obliteration of the Jews, which would carry out the Holocaust. The Prime Minister then explains further that, “The founding of Israel did not stop the attacks against Jews. It merely gave the Jews power to defend themselves against those attacks…Time and again the Israeli army was forced to repel attacks of much larger enemies determined to destroy us"(Source A). Another threat was again identified by the Prime Minister “radical Iranian armed with nuclear weapons could bring an end to the era of nuclear peace the world has enjoyed for the last 65 years. Such a regime could provide nuclear weapons to terrorists might be tempted to use them itself...Iran's brazen bid to develop nuclear weapons is first and foremost a threat to Israel”(Source A). Overall both these quotes give support to the reasoning that the threats and attacks against the Jews aren’t scarce but rising. The development of Israel only gave the Jews more power to defend themselves against the crimes, instead of lowering the threat of the obliteration of their race. All the threats are very dangerous for the Jews in this time period and were very dangerous back then. Before Israel was developed the Jews were targeted without defense in
The Holocaust was a time period in which Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Nazi Germany. He prosecuted many Jews because he believed they were the reason World War 1 started, causing the death of 100,000 German soldiers. Because of this, he made sure nearly every Jew was put into concentration camps or killed. Adolf Hitler was a man who wanted everything his way, and because of this he killed innocent people. The Holocaust was an unfair period for the Jews. The Jews were killed because of who they were, and the citizens didn’t try to do anything to help them
In 1948, Israel, originally known as Palestine was created. The Jews believed Israel was their ‘holy’ birthplace, this was called religious connection. In the book of Genenis, a verse states “I will bless those who bless you and cures him that cures you” (document A). When the “westerners” saw this verse they felt the need to get the Jews to get their holy land. This is called Zionism. Another reason is the Holocaust, which was the massacre of 6 million Jews. Anti-Semitism was also another reason, which was discrimination of Jews.
In our society, there are a handful of people who believe that anti-Semitism is a matter of the past, and do not realize that it still exists today. Countless of Jews face it more than once in their lifetime, whether it may be an
The Holocaust not only affected the areas where it took place, it affected the entire world. Even though Jewish people were the main victims in the Holocaust, it also left lasting effects on other groups of people. Both the Nazi and Jewish decedents still feel the aftermath of one of the most horrific counts of genocide that the world has ever encountered. The cries of the victims in concentration camps still ring around the globe today, and they are not easily ignored. Although the Holocaust took place during World War Two, the effects that it had on the world are still prominent today.
Before anyone can comprehend the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one must understand the theory of Zionism. Theodor Herzl was the first Jew to have the idea of creating Israel. He was a witness of the Dreyfus affair, in which a Jewish officer was accused of treason, solely because he was Jewish. Herzl also witnessed mobs of people shouting “Death to the Jews”. This was the last straw for Herzl. Herzl decided that there needed to be a change so he made it one of his life goals to create a successful movement in which Jews founded a Jewish state. One of his main arguments was that discrimination against Jews could be eliminated if they had their own Jewish State, and so modern Zionism was formed. The idea of modern Zionism is so pertinent to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because much of the reason for Israel becoming a Jewish state is behind the fact that Jews were perpetrated throughout the years before Zionism even came into play of the situation.
The holocaust had a major effect on Judaism as a whole. This conflict between tragedy and faith is not new. Jewish history shows us that the jewish people have undergone the most terrible persecutions and genocide at the hands of many oppressors. Whether it be about the pogroms, crusades, destruction of the Temples, the jewish people have been at the brunt of the most terrible atrocities, and yet this does not shake their faith,Anti-Semitism was nothing new. This became even more evident with the unmasking of the holocaust. The philosophical question of “Shall the Judge of the earth not do justice?” applies just as much to the seemingly useless suffering of an individual as to that of six million individuals. If it could be dealt with on an individual basis before the Holocaust, why couldn 't it be dealt with in the same way afterwards? The difference is one of quantity, but the quality of the question remains the same.
Throughout the endless history, there were lots of important and influential event. For example the Dark Age, Enlightenment, Civil War, World War I and II and the Cold War. Over all of these event, there was one event that deeply influence the world and the Jews today, it was the Holocaust. Holocaust, a term that people use to describe the horrible event that happened during World War II which kill millions of innocent citizens. The Holocaust started at January 13, 1933, when Hitler became the leader of Germany. It continued until the V - E Day, which happened on May 8, 1945. 6 million Jews, and 5 million non-Jews were killed during the Holocaust. The causes and effect of the Holocaust was Hitler’s racism, poor economic conditions, and the death of 6 million Jews which led to the creation of the nation of Israel.
The Jewish People in the Land of Israel are in the midst of a very difficult period. A war is raging all around us, as the Arab population turns against us with stones, knives and bullets. Despite the terror all around us, Israelis are continuing to walk the streets and the malls and shops are busy, but the price for a can of pepper spray has more than tripled from 60 NIS to 200 NIS. Jews are ready to defend themselves and will take no chances.
With half of the Israeli nation being split into Arab or Jewish, people do feel a huge amount of aggression towards one another. The war between to the sides of the country results in wars that will never be solved; the wars create problems among its people. With the problems among its people, it is hard for citizens to live their everyday life. Women do feel the most hardship in wanting to escape the country. All of these factors result into
In the years just after World War II, Zionism (the desire to rebuild a Jewish national presence in the Promised Land) became a popular Jewish cause all around the world. Many Jews who were not practicing Judaism at all with religion became involved with the establishment of the State of Israel. Even today, many years after the successful founding of the State of Israel, there are Jews whose only real tie to Judaism is their belief in Zionism and their support for the State of Israel. They are joined by many Jews who are members of synagogues and support a modern Jewish religious movement, but who also find their prime identity as Jews in the Zionist cause.
