The NAMI presentation that took place on February 2, 2017 had a really intriguing effect on me. NAMI stands for “National Alliance on Mental Illness”. NAMI provides the In Our Own Voice presentations, which are offered with the goal “to change attitudes, preconceived notions and stereotypes” about mental illness (NAMI North Carolina: North Carolina’s Voice on Mental Illness, n.d.). I am one to hold a stigma against those with mental disorders. The New Oxford American Dictionary says that, stigma is “a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person” (Stevenson & Lindberg, 2011). Even after the presentation, I still do to some extent. The presentation did open my eyes to the fact that people with certain mental disorders can get the treatment they need to live some-what “normal” lives.

Some side effects of these drugs are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and/or dizziness. If the side effects continue after the first 24 hours, medical attention is required because there can be serious medical problems. Bleeding and severe cramps are expected during the process. In fact, “People who have ever used a tanning bed have a sixty-seven percent increased risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma and a twenty-nine percent increased risk of developing basal cell carcinoma. People who first use a tanning bed before age thirty-five increase their risk of melanoma by seventy-five percent” (Silecchia). In the past, melanoma mostly affected people in their fifties or older, but today, dermatologists see patients in their twenties and even late teens with this type of cancer. Experts believe this is caused by an increase in radiation from the use of tanning beds. A sunburn or intense sun exposure may also increase a person's chances of developing this deadly cancer. Being in the sun is inevitable, but people can still protect their skin from many forms of skin cancer by doing the simplest things such as applying sunscreen.

Immokalee is an area of land that is not regulated or governed by a municipal corporation. In other words, it is unincorporated region and is part of Collier County, Florida. Immokalee is found alongside Florida State Road 29. As I drove from my Lehigh Acres residence, I mapped out the distance between my home and the town of Immokalee. It is about a 40-minute drive and it is 27 miles from my home. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the census-designated place of Immokalee has a total area of 23.3 square miles, in which, 22.7 square miles is land and the rest is water ("United States Census Bureau," 2015).

Mitoxantrone is an antineoplastic drug, meaning that it inhibits the growth of cancerous cells.[1,2] It is licensed for use in UK in the treatment of leukaemia, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and breast cancer which has spread to other organs (metastasis)[3]. It can also be used in non-resectable primary hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer which has not metastasised, but cannot be removed by surgical intervention).[3] Dosages for these indications tend to be around 12mg/m2 of body surface area (BSA), and is administered in cycles of treatment due to mitoxantrone’s cell cycle non-specificity [2]; this regime is also in line with those administered in the US.[4] Although primarily anticancer treatment, Mitoxantrone has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Admiration in the US) for use in patients with multiple sclerosis who experience relapses (acute worsening of their MS symptoms) and where their condition is deemed to be progressive.[1,4] It is currently not licensed by the MHRA for use in MS.[3] The drug is formulated as a liquid, bright blue in colour[3], which is injected or infused intravenously. In this section, we will study the various effects it has on human beings and the most probable reason for the effect. Over the course of one month, I put myself in situations where I was very uncomfortable and awkward situations. I shadowed the professional Eben Bartholomew and was shocked. For the past 2 years, I have dedicated my fitness to aesthetics and power lifting, which has been a consistent part of who I am. After experiencing what Eben went through to train and perfect moves, which took me out of my comfort zone, I have come to the conclusion, I could not do it for my day to day life. Eban, every single day puts not only has to overcome fears, he has to teach others to aswell, also, Eben is required to assume the risk of any and all injuries and embrace them, lastly, Eben must constantly looking for a new move while perfecting the last, which seems to be an impossible feat.
