Jake Mulligan's The Strange Case Of F. W.

Good Essays

It was Tuesday, February 2nd, when Jake Mulligan walked into the F.W. Woolworth store to get a cup of coffee. He walked in, sat down at the counter, and started to look around. He noticed that in the corner booth, eight black people were sitting with their books and studying. They looked to be college students, four girls and four boys. There was also a large group of people standing by the booth, insulting and heckling the eight blacks. Jake gets up and decides to go to another store.
A few weeks later, Jake came back to the Woolworth store. He walked in and saw the same group, in the same spot. However this time they had more black people with them. Again there was a group of very repulsive white men, but this time the taunting became violent.
