You are not Forgotten
There are around 550,000 people living in Johnson County Kansas (United states Census Bureau). Most everybody has a faucet they can get to whenever they want. Most people have a pantry they can get into everyday if they want to. Most people can go into a dresser or a clauset and pick out any clothes that they want to wear for the day. Many people here do not realize how lucky and good they have it. If somebody's phone cracks, or their girlfriend/boyfriend breaks up with them, they think it is the end of the world. But I would rather have my phone crack or not get invited to that sick party than have to walk miles a day for water or have to scrap everything you have to build a school. This is what life is like for the ten million people living in Haiti, Africa. This is what life was like for Jean Anock every day. Jean Anock was an 11 year old boy in 2010, he had little to start but by the end of January 12, he was going to have nothing. On a mid January day young Jean Anock was getting ready to do his daily work, when

All of that money goes into helping the children in Haiti and building new buildings. Everyone in need is usually picked up and helped by Hope for Haiti’s Children. This charity has been very helpful, it has saved thousands of lives since it started in 1995 and it has made broken forgotten kids into strong confident leaders. When people hear about this charity I think they start to feel grateful and lucky that they have a fridge or a faucet at home. The overall charity is a 95 out of 100 or a four star rating they rank higher than a score of 90 in overall grade, financial grade and in accountability and transparency. They receive these great scores because they really do help a lot of people. A good hearted NFL player has his input about the charity, Marcell Dareus (NFL defensive end) “I’m happy to be able to partner with Hope for Haiti, I love giving
Census reported in September 2014 that the U.S. median household income in the United States was $51,939 in 2013, which means the lowest salary in the NFL is eight-nine times more then the median income in our country” (Fleyshman). Players make loads of money because people will pay the price to watch their favorite team. Every time someone buys a ticket to watch a game or every time that a company wants to sponsor the team, that team makes more money then many businesses. The NFL teams are making so much money and they give money for charities, but why can’t they give more money to the charities or to towns that have lost many houses because of a terrible storm. They are doing charities and campaigns, “but they are not making as mush difference as doctors who are saving lives”
When I was little, I heard stories of Third World countries where people lived in complete poverty. I would hear of how they had dilapidated domiciles, contaminated water, deadly diseases, and shortages of food. I was always told how blessed I was to live in a country where I was free of these situations, but I always took this truth for granted. I would go along every day, not worrying about where I was going to sleep or what I was going to eat, when people all over the world were facing these situations as problems. It wasn't until I was sixteen that I realized how blessed I was, when I was given the opportunity to visit San Jose, Costa Rica.
For a nation of 323.1 billion people, it is astonishing to see the people of America unaware of some situations. According to The Center for Poverty Research, in 2015, an estimated 43.1 million Americans lived in poverty according to the official measure. We are not doing enough to help those in need. Of course there are places for people to get help but so many people are struggling. “In 2015, 12.2% of men lived in Poverty USA, and 14.8% of women lived in poverty” (The State of Poverty). As a nation, we could try to be more considerate to the people that need help. “Overall, the typical American defined as poor by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave” (How Poor is America’s Poor?). Some people suffer silently. They may have all of these things but they will always be in need of assistance. Our government has ignored the poor people of America and it is time to take action. Already, there are food
They spent 1.2 million dollars on scholarships and student funding. Which leaves 44.5 million dollars to be used in other school departments. The frustration for most football players is that their time
“I don’t feel so well” Jan’s father had suddenly said one morning at breakfast. Her father, a World War II veteran, stood up and went to go lie down. The rest of the family continued with their day. Michael went to see how his father was. When he tried to wake him his father didn’t respond or make a sound. The 11 year old boy was the one who first knew that his father was gone. The memory of her father’s loss is vivid in Jan’s mind. It was a substantial shock after he had survived the horrors of World War II and then just passed away quietly at home one morning. Jan now understands how
The caring theory was grounded on a humanitarian perspective and is found on a humanistic approach toward human caring programs and experiences. It acknowledges that life with individuals and their community to the surrounding environment are somehow connect and affects wellbeing of everything involved. The nature of the theory caring implies that it embraces reflective investigations as well subjective and interpretative inquiries. The nursing profession uses nursing theories as the framework and foundation for practice. Many people find nursing theories to be meaningless and of no use to the
Where does all this money go? No one knows, but where it doesn't go is to those students-- namely the athletes who bring the profit. That is so unjust! College athletes should obtain earnings for their hard work.
was driving home from a shopping trip with his five-year-old son when he suffered an aneurysm and stroke. He somehow was able to pull over but wasn’t able to speak or move. His five-year-old son Nathaniel Jr. grabbed his dad’s cellphone and called his grandmother. As soon as she knew that her five-year-old grandson and his father were in trouble, she was ready to go help them. The only problem was that she didn’t know where they were and neither did Nathaniel Jr. Luckily, the little boy had payed attention in class and could name the letters F-U-R-N-I-T-U-R-E on the sign near him when he got on the phone with his mother. He helped his mother and his grandmother find his location, therefore saving his father’s life. Although Nathaniel Jr. may be only five, by saving his dad, he has become a hero.
Secondly, According to Kenny Zuckerman and WalletHub “I'm not quite sure how I would distribute the dollars, but it would be some sort of formula based on getting a degree, the school profiting on that players' likeness and the merchandise deal the school has during that players four years of on the field playtime” (Zuckerman). With all of the ticket sales, merchandise sold, and the attention the athletes are bringing to the school, schools are making tons of money, but they can’t manage to pay their athletes just a small percentage of their profits. With this being said, college athletes need to be
Next, players that work very hard at the game they love, and play every game. They deserve that kind of money, but giving over 7 million dollars to players that don’t touch the field all year. That's just wrong and disrespectful, to the kids that don’t have a mom or dad, and that has lived outside every single day of their life. That’s just the saddest and horrible thing that I have experience in my life.
Karly Segrave was a fifteen year old girl when Hurricane Katrina Hit. Her mother worked at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, so when it was time to evacuate she stuffed everything she could into a backpack and went on her way. Most of the employees at the hospital brought their familys with them, so space was limited. Karly slept under her mothers cubical for three weeks. “At first it was fun,” she watched movies, played games, and had tons of people to talk to. Then days turned into weeks and the hospital begun to run low on food. She began to realize that it wasn’t all fun and games.
So this boy by the age of 14, named Tim, lived in the worst neighborhood. There were murders, kidnappings, and even robberies. Whenever Tim witnessed something so tragic as of these topics I have listed above, he started to bawl. He cried and cried and cried until his mother came in with some cookies and warm milk and fed it to him like he was still her little 1 year old. Tim was never allowed to go outside. For 1, there was this gang called, “Victorians”, and whenever someone tries to cross their path, they would rob them of their money and beat the victim up. Tim had once crossed their path, and they tried to rob Tim, but 1 of the members passed out because Tim had thrown a pipe at the member’s temple, which was located on the sides of his
All over the world, there are over 3,000,000,000 people living on less than $3.50 per day. However, even though there are many men, women, and children in our own country who live like this, there are others who live without a care in the world. These people need to take the time to realize that the basic necessities that they take for granted such as plumbing, water, food, and health care, could be the greatest luxury to someone across the world, or maybe even in their own country.
The thirty-two teams in the NFL have some of the top players in the world. When a team has a top player they make jerseys sales that bring in money for the organization. Each will have their quarterback, running back and at least one or two of their wide receivers, then on defense, a lineman, cornerback and a linebacker. The teams also make sure they being social with their fans. Each team has an Instagram and/or Twitter, so that they can show their fans what they are doing in the community also what they are doing for charity. Teams also make sure that they can get kids off of the streets, almost all the teams do something called play sixty program. Play sixty is a program where the NFL wanted to
People living in poverty often feel powerless and isolated, it’s so hard to be poor and tens of millions americans deal with that every day.
