Hello class, my name is Jennel. I am a massage therapist that is striving to get more out of life. I took this course to do just that. It can be very hard to focus and make time for my future, but who else will do it. As life may have it I don't have any children. I do have the cutest toy poodle (Pippy). Recently I got engaged to a God fearing man and I feel blessed to have him. I feel like life can get the best of us. That being said, school can become challenging. I have found that with the staff's help we can learn and grow. The assignment was to say something about ourselves. I will continue to try and I hope everyone of you will do the
I could successfully operate one of the four franchises without having experience owning a business because a franchise “is generally a proven business model … [and] reduces your risk” (Stricker, 2015, P. 74). Figure 5 demonstrates the four franchises’ market share, revenue, and net worth. Furthermore, I could successfully operate Massage Envy without experience, since Massage Envy has the highest market share and a net worth of $500,000. Although I have no experience in operating a business, “franchisors offer extensive hand-holding” that will allow me to succeed” (“Buying a Business off the Rack”, 2013). Moreover, “name recognition” will allow me to succeed and reduce my risk (Stricker, 2015, P. 74). Also, gaining knowledge by experience and from other franchisors will allow me to succeed.
Ian Borck served four years in the United States Marine Corps where he did a combat deployment in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom. During his services he was the battalion ammunition chief for 1st Battalion 11th Marines Artillery. Once he started being immersed with helping veterans, he decided to obtain his degree in Organizational Leadership from Arizona State University. He then worked for various organizations as a business analyst and enjoyed being a problem solver.
In my initial post, I wanted to learn more about myself and those that I am around daily. In fact, I should have given more detail since I am interested in learning about how to communicate effectively with different personality types because I supervise many different individuals. In reality, I feel that this will give me a gateway to evaluate myself as a teacher and learn what works best for each employee. Also, we find that when we understand the people that we are around it makes us more effective leaders which can lead to a more successful workplace (Dibra, 2014). However, I have found that this class offered so much more than I first realized. During the last four weeks, we have discussed that sleep plays such a significant role in repairing our bodies, sleep deprivation can cause serious health issues, the beauty industry and environmental factors can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle, and the differences in the parenting styles. We have covered several areas in our comment section that consist of how the mind and nervous system are associated by having overlapping patterns of activity, how brain trauma can affect an individual and the discussion of neuroscience as it relates to the criminal justice system (Cacioppo & Freberg, 2013). Also, we have learned how the
The US entered the war for a variety of reasons. Here are some summaries of explanations.
A path that led to this school, and the amazing experiences and opportunities I had and will continue to have throughout my last year here. Here is the place I’ve learn to lead in a classroom, develop my academic skills, and succeed in continuing my mission of helping others. I’ve grown into a woman with her own ideals and own convictions, which I just now realized has always been my goal in life. What I major in, what job I have, and who I marry will not confine my person to live a life where having one experience is
During the last couple of years, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) have gone through many difficulties; ranging from teacher strikes to low funding, which has tremendously taken a toll on the students attending these schools. The Illinois Policy Institute, which writes to inform the public of issues affecting Illinois states, “Seventy-five percent of students at the lowest-performing elementary schools failed to meet standards on state exams. More than 20 percent of these students scored in the lowest category in reading, meaning they have a difficult time determining the main idea of a persuasive essay or the plot of a short story…Students at Chicago’s lowest-performing high schools drop out at nearly 12 times the rate of average Illinois
Every year ever since my goal would be to take home the awarded diploma to the best student in the class. I chose to convey exemplary values to those around me, be it classmates, friends, or family. Although quirky, and having been an only child for the longest and loneliest seven years of my upbringing, I eagerly and earnestly strived to make an effort in becoming a successful and respectable member of my family, neighborhood, and surroundings. I anticipated becoming a role model as a soon-to-be older
In conclusion, so far in this class I have found many things meaningful to me. The academic success skills and tools they shared with myself and the class have actually helped me complete this essay in a timely manner. I am beyond thankful to have three great instructors to teach me more about the great Midland University and what it all has to offer. I believe that if I make the most out of this class, I am more likely to find success in the future. Module One has had a positive impact on my student life and I am beyond excited to learn more every week in the following
This was by far the most challenging course that I have encountered while obtaining my Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from UCMO. That is not a negative comment as this course has actually impacted me professionally more than any other course I’ve taken to date. This course has taken more time to complete the assignments, more of my attention to detail, and more of my creativity. The last point was the best part about this course. I consider myself to be fairly creative and this course definitely allowed me to do that while bringing my somewhat odd personality to a professional forum. For this I am grateful. Let’s get to the good stuff, shall we?
For years, scientists have been using stem cells to help cure diseases and research different illnesses that come from deformed cells. In recent years, however, a debate has risen over where we should get these stem cells from. Because of the way stem cells are helping sick individuals and furthering research, the use of stem cells shouldn’t be stopped. The sources from which stem cells are acquired, however, should be limited. While acquiring adult stem cells is completely safe and productive, using embryonic stem cells is unethical in the way they are acquired. For this reason, the use of adult stem cells should be allowed, but the use of embryonic stem cells should be banned.
What kind of career is Massage Therapy? A very interesting and productive career which I would enjoy pursuing. Some reasons that this would be a good career for me are that it pays well, education is not extensive, it helps others, and it is something I am good at and enjoy doing.
After a long eight months, I can now look back and say that I completed my first year of college. It is safe to say that during that time, life was not the same as it was in high school. Many adjustments, such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be made. However, I think that those adjustments had made me a more accountable student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to enter my second year at Loyola, I am ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I personally feel that I am still a planet’s distance away from figuring out who I really am, but I think that as long as I can keep being the best person I can be, I can accomplish what I want to do during my post-collegiate career. In this essay, I will talk about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, emphasizing my field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the route I plan to take to get there.
In the beginning, I was not completely sure if this was what I wanted to do in life, but over time I became more confident in this grand goal and more confident in myself. Each course would teach me something new about education and about me personally. I am thankful for every educator who helped me along the way and showed me that I am not wasting my time with these classes and with this profession as a whole. My target is in sight and with a little more work, I will be making a change like I always dreamed. Every course I complete is another piece of a dignified puzzle and I am proud of the pieces I have gathered so

Massage therapy has been used for thousands of years as a form of medical care, the earliest time of use dates back to 2,700 BC from a Chinese book called “The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine”. The Chinese used this form of treatment for a person with full paralysis or an illness from fever and chills. History shows that Greek and Roman doctors also used massage therapy, as Julius Caesar had a disease called neuralgia and used massages on a daily basis to treat his condition. Hippocrates who was known as the Father of Western Medicine felt that massage therapy was effective, as it could loosen or bind a problematic joint. Massage therapy is also found in the history of Indian Medicine as the Indians used and still use
