When they found him Jesus said to them did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house? By staying and speaking with the teachers in the temple, he was fulfilling the will of his father Almighty God. Looked at from that point of view, Jesus was showing obedience rather than disobedience.
In my view considering the above-mentioned incidents Jesus Christ’s teaching about the family does not means that he was not aware the importance of the family life. His emphases on the whole family, Body of Christ which is eternal. That why Jesus was concentrating on divine family, which is a source for the whole human being to bring into the part of God’s kingdom. The prayer which our savior thought us , Our Father who art in heaven, is a beautiful concept of a family. Father and mothers are the most important component of a family in Christian life.
Jesus' teachings concerning children/family were faithfully followed by the early church, which believed that to receive a child in the name of Christ was to receive Christ Himself. Admonitions against the pagan practices of abortion and child abandonment were found in the earliest Christian writings. The Epistle of Barnabas commanded: Thou shalt not slay the child by procuring abortion; nor again, shalt thou destroy it after it is born. Thou shalt not withdraw thy hand from thy son, or from thy daughter, but from their infancy thou shalt teach them the fear of the Lord.

Kehinde Wiley, African American painter exclusively working in portraiture, creates gigantic works of art displaying african americans fused into iconic works created by the masters of art; Andrea Mantegna, Peter Paul Ruben, Jacques Louis David and many others. His process of selecting his muse in his paintings are scouring throughout the streets of Brazil,China, Israel and New york, starting conversation with people he finds interesting, these civilians are the ones Wiley chooses for his models. After the photoshoot he has hundreds and hundreds images and narrows them down to fifty, fifty go fifteen. He matches them up with historical backgrounds, wallpapers and textiles and they will become the paintings for his show.
My understanding of the gospel prior to this class was that God sent his only son to earth so that we may be forgiven of our sins. The gospel to me was also about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. As I was growing up I also learned about the great commission. While I learned about the great commission I realized all Christians are required to go out and take the gospel and share it weather as a missionary in a foreign country or the work place such as a school teacher. I grew up in the church and went to a small private Christian school where I was immersed in the teaching of the gospel. The
Today, as I attend school with the major heading as “Missions,” I hear a lot of talk about different methods in creating disciples. However, “Paul’s modus operandi for training was time on task” (pp. 59). In other words, disciples were made through time spent rather than strictly content. It sounds like relationship was a key aspect. Paul also focused on transferring these converts into true believers. It seems a lot in churches today, individuals are more focused on content rather than time. Therefore, they spend more time in the church “learning” than spending time with those that need “discipled.” With that, people in the church tend to “convert” others or brag about increased attendance, but have no plan to turn these individuals into true believers.
Christianity and Islam are two religions that are monotheistic, meaning they believe in only one God. Christianity believes in Jesus, while Judaism believes in Mohammed. While the two religions are monotheistic, it does not mean they believe in the same beliefs nor have the same beliefs about their Gods. While Christianity believes Jesus to be the son of God, Islam believes in Mohammed; a young orphan, whose parents died when he was six (father) and nine (mother) (Smith, 2004). Both religions have deep roots based upon their God, which helps to found their beliefs, but where are the two religions the same and where go they vary?
Jeffery L. Sheler says in the article, Who was Jesus, “Some followed him, believing he was God's anointed one, while others dismissed him as a pretender and a troublemaker”(6). This shows that some followed him trying to be a child of god just like Jesus but some people did not. Jesus was trying to make people believe in what he was preaching, but some people did not want to believe him. Evidence from Jeffery L. Sheler in the article, Who was Jesus says, “It was said that he was a healer and a gifted teacher who challenged conventional wisdom and spoke with authority and wit”(2). Jesus was trying to teach people about God to influence them to his beliefs. He challenged conventional wisdom to convince what he was saying was true. A quote by Robert M. Price in the article, Myth and Men: Are the religious founders unfounded? says, “Instead of hammering out laws he issues, teaching parables, and prophecies, which are later taken by legal force by his followers” (8). Jesus was a teacher more than he just made laws. Even though he did not give out laws and punishments, he still was a strict preacher. Although some people did not like what Jesus was teaching, he still kept on teaching because he knew that it meant a lot to
John nine verses one through seven is the being of the grace giving and truth telling of Jesus in this section. When Jesus spoke with the man that was blind I believe he ministered to him and gave him a brief explanation of who he was. The disciples asked him if this man sinned from birth or did his parents sin? Jesus used the truth telling when he answered the disciples by saying this man didn't sin at birth and neither has his parents sinned. It also gives truth-telling by letting the disciples know that it was to give God the glory. Now for the grace-giving part of Jesus, is him giving the Blind man back his sight. The reason why this was grace-giving was because this man had been blind his whole life, but when he came in contact with Jesus, he showed him grace by healing him.
Did you know that Jesus was hiding inside of that Ram when Abraham slaughtered it on the alter? God Himself had prepared this supplying and it materialized at the specific second it was essential. What took place in this trade is that God obligated Himself to perform what He had promised by way of the obedience of a gentleman. From this level on Jesus in human form is essential to carry forth the deliverance of our species from mortality. PS, He obtained the task carried out. This brings us to the on earth ministry of Jesus in human type.
On September 8, 2015, I have decided to interview my cousin Sally Chia about her relationship with Jesus. My cousin was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is 28 years old. She currently lives in Las Vegas and works as a pharmacist. I chose to interview her because I figured she had a close relationship with Jesus. This is because when I was growing up she was the one who taught me about Jesus and his teachings. I have known my cousin Sally all my life, which is for about 14 years. During the interview I asked questions about her own personal relationship with God, and she answered my questions with great answers.
Yes, I toured in a solo recreation of the teaching of Jesus called Jesus Of Nazareth for well over 1,000 performances from 1994 to 2010. There's a page on this on my website at http://www.billoberst.com/jesus-of-nazareth. I wondered what it would be like to hear the teachings of Jesus as fresh and revolutionary and surprising (rather than predictable, staid and boring), so I created this little touring presentation to find out. I've done it for people of every faith and for people of no particular faith. The astounding thing is how Jesus and His words unify and reconcile. His words liberate. A gruff old man (who, the preacher told me, had not darkened the door of that church in years) told me after one of these presentations, "I don't give
For the Glory of God, we are created: and that we may worship Him wholeheartedly, He provides our needs on a daily basis.
Some early Christians practiced infanticide by exposing unwanted female infants. Church fathers warned against this because they believed that children that were exposed were more likely to be victims of incest and/or become prostitutes. In turn, they warned against having sex with prostitutes because they believed that it may result in a father having sex with one of his own children. However for Christians, as with the Jews, it was considered a criminal act.
When Jesus is preaching He always says “Come, walk with me”. For us, it is sure that Jesus is with us in our everyday lives. We are sure of this because of our faith to Him. Therefore Jesus wants us to realize that if we follow him with all our hearts we are sure that we are in his protection but if you are away from Him, He is still with you that is because sometimes if we are making sins we come to realize the things that we’ve done wrong.
Christian Tradition course exposed me to the Christian Tradition based on Biblical and church history. The course taught me the differences and similarities of Christian Tradition from other major world religions. I learned about the significance of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Trinity based on the teachings of the Bible. The course also briefly covered 2,000 years of church history but with emphasis on the impact of the Council of Nicea, Council of Chalcedon, and John and Charles Wesley on Christianity. The professor emphasized the importance of the reformation that sparked a revolution in the church.
Christian Worldview 101 has enlightened me and allowed me to focus what I have read, viewed, and learned about Jesus’ life. In the following piece I will be reviewing the following topics and how they coincide with my own life and experiences. The topics are as follow: Jesus’ Teachings, Miracles, and His Death and Resurrection. I have chosen these particular topics because I can relate to them in some spectrum of my life to the present day as well as the fact that I specifically admire what these topics entail.
For us, who have the entirety of Scripture to look at, it’s not difficult to understand what Jesus is teaching His disciples. He was their master and He was about to leave them on a journey – a journey to the cross – where He would rise from the dead and be seated at the right hand of the Father Almighty! Quite a journey indeed!!!
